GameBoy SP's and Gameboy micros were built with a fuse that lasted only a set amount of time. The fuse would burn out after approximately 2.3 years of non-stop play.

They were designed to expire after so much time. Nintendo built them that way.

But if you're a Gameboy Advance fan, yours should still work. GameBoy Advances never had a mechanism that made them stop working.

Yes you can not play game boy games on it but even on the sp gameboy games don't take the whole screen and the backlight is not that important so play games on their original system for the best experience but this system is cool and unique especially since it was only made for one year

@LegoDerpy no they aren't. The Gameboy Micro was targeted to Mature Audience (pardon me for the word Mature) because it's aimed at collecters and people ages 18-30 or something like that. GB Micro can't play GB and GBC games it can only play GBA GAMES.

But I'm still getting it because of it's unique form factor and size also my GB Advance got busted.

@thedreadedzero he may be really have a gameboy sp with headphone jack becouse there are "GameBoy Advance clones" and if he dont know how the real gameboy advance sp looks like he may belive that its a gameboy with headphone jack .. and yes there is NO "Original GameBoy Advance SP" with headphone jack made. =)

i want minish cap... Of all the good game boy games i have, i only have one zelda gba game. That is the classic nes series zelda 2, the adventures of link. It's a great game, but I like toon link. I never really thought about this but, the sprites are like those in pokemon. (p.s. I have sp and micro. I need a charger for the micro. I might get one off ebay. my fingers are hurting, so i'll just subscribe.)

I don't know why Nintendo would release such a crappy product, I mean the GBA SP, did everything it needed too with playing GB, GBC and GBA game with a backlight(and later frontlit)screen. I know it was mainly to make more money, but it was a jip cause consumers who didn't know better spent money they could have spent on a GBA SP or GBA games on a system that was useless, even the Virtual Boy was better than this, at least that tried to do something new, this was a step back on Nintendo's part

i hae a sp and a micro i got my micro for a deck of yugioh cards and 10 buxs it came with mrs pacman i perfer playing on a micro then a sp and i grew up playing nothing but sp and aas soon as i got the micro i enjoyed my games more so saying playing on a sp is better is just an opion not really a fact so if you want to know which plays better try one out and decie base on what you perfer
