  • ni silat olahraga nih.. silat ni mana ada seni..

  • Is this from Nanyang Polytechnic's Seligi Tunggal Angkatan?

  • at 1:17 that must really hurt. lol

  • Funny no one uses this martial art in MMA, Mixed Martial Arts probably because it is useless

  • @deemo4718 It's used in Indonesian MMA.

  • @deemo4718 This is only the Sport side of Silat, which most of it's moves are watered down to almost nothing. You wouldn't have said that if you would actually research. Silat emphasizes on joint locks, interception and takedowns rather than striking.Silat also emphasize ALOT on the "art" part of Martial Arts. That's why it has dancing in it to confuse the opponent .

  • @deemo4718 As the other guy stated, its used in Indonesian MMA. Also, the point of MMA is to make due with the limited class time you have in the modern day. In otherwords you chose multiple narrow sighted martial arts that focus entirely on a specific aspect; rather than the martial arts that covers everything.

  • 1.00 tu silat apa ek?

  • 0:45 why he pause there???

  • Before this I had never seen a video of Silat practitioners. These guys and girls are pretty beast!

  • in the world of martial arts, this one seems a bit shit

  • I like that sweep move they do its quick as hell and has a long reach.

  • I read that bruce lee killed 29 silat masters when he was alive.

  • WHAT`S NAME THESE MUSIC?

  • good fights but where are the sticks?

  • 1:12 GOT! DAYUM!

  • Looks like San Shou

  • guys, this silat competition u c is not all there is to silat. ur just seeing just 15% of the whole thing if u ask me. silat is ore of a sacred ritual for asian indonesian n malaysian. i think silat is not even a for of martial art. its really a spiritual thing. im not really at liberty to say coz i dunno myself, but if, by a BIG ÏF that bruce lee got killed by a silat master, i doubt that its done by the commercialized silat master. i think its probably done by a REAL silat master.

  • HAHAHAHAHA FUCK THEMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MEAN THE LOSERS JUST KIDDEN I GOT BORED.

  • HAHAHAHAHA FUCK THEMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HAHAHAHAHA

  • 1:21 This MUST hurt! Wonder if guy is still alive..

  • This' looks so much kung fu. Has kung fu influced silat?

  • @TAC412 Silat was originated in Malaysia and Indonesia, so, if you noticed, most of the Martial Arts that originates from South East Asia looks quite the same.

  • @TAC412 you could say almost ALL of the world martial art are influenced by chinese kung fu... kung fu is the origin of martial art

  • Kalari or Kalaripayattu of ancient India is the world’s oldest martial arts. Infact, it is the mother of all martial arts in the world. Ancient buddhist monks who travelled from India to China to spread buddhism are said to have taught these martial arts to the Chinese.

  • @TAC412 For what I know being a Kung Fu and Silat practitioner, all Martial Arts are the same in terms of basics. The only difference is the advanced arts, which is just arts. There's no such thing as "the best art".Your opinion?

  • @TAC412 Silat is a Malay art.. the Malays had Significant influence from the Chinese and Indians so its no surprise to see Silat has Kung fu elements

  • Comment removed

  • @TheDhiva Bila masa aku ckp Silat dari Malaysia?

  • @TAC412

    Definitely.

  • This video was the best!

  • the take down technic in 1.13 is awesome!

  • Silat is good martial art, there is very good striking technic,or throwing take down technic of silat very nice to watch, very intertaining. Ucapan Selamat hidup selalu silat !!

  • cool

  • These guys don't mess around, do they? That's why I wish I could learn silat!

  • whats the difference b/w silat and muy thai...they look almost the same

  • @cradleofjohannes the silat focus more on fluidity and locking opponents movement rather than focusing on kicks/knee kick and punches in muai thai

  • @cradleofjohannes the silat focus more on fluidity and locking opponents movement rather than focusing on kicks/knee kick and punches in muai thai

  • @cradleofjohannes the silat focus more on fluidity and locking opponents movement rather than focusing on kicks/knee kick and punches in muai thai. unfotunately, silat as a competitive sport is based on points so most fighters just focus on getting points in rather than taking down an opponent

  • bruce lee did not die due to a silat punch or kick...he died because of hollywood !!!

  • well all round style ,,, impressed with its agressiveness ... style is well suited for combat ... i watched one vid vefore but dismissed it as silly kung fu type style ... its combat system is effective.

  • @TheSirSneaky

Wacth the film "Merantau". it's the first film based on Silat, similar to Ong Bak and the Protector except Merantau is better than them.

  • krav maga effiecent and deadly

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • Push-up satu jari versi indonesia ,jangan lupa tulis komentarnya, ya...

  • I guess this is like San Shou?

  • @lickmyfart sort of but not any more like kung fu than any other martial art.

  • Singapore =.=

  • -------------------------------8->

  • silat rulez

  • @Gameaddictivez

Be it Silat, Kung Fu, Kalarippayattu, Eskrima, or Muay Thai, these traditional martial arts are efficient on their own, only that they are only as efficient as their practitioners.

    good job dude..

    this will aspire me!

    silat is the BEST!

    lets the world know that!

  • this what happens if you put silat into sports.. should have stayed out of sport

  • @ezuan88

I agree. Asian martial arts are meant for the kill and teaching it as a mere sport is just castrating it.

  • test...

  • @TheBillbirk im sure u do like to do that

  • that slam at 114 ouch!!!

  • as a student of silat, i was pleased to see this video. they good. its what i must aspire to. nice to see on video

  • @woodchurch123 thanks:)

  • @woodchurch123 - are you serious? i thought this was a joke when i first watched it; this is some of the shittiest slap-kick 'fighting' i have ever seen. Its silly. Its like sub-par tae kwon do and when you consider how much tae kwon do sucks, thats saying something

  • fuhh, hebat sunguh!

  • please watch and subscribe on my channel...suport silat...

  • Jesus.....I can't believe my parents made me do pussy Wado-Kai when I was a kid!

I was breaking boards, silat students are breaking people.

  • @kjun13 What are you talking about its not the style man its how hard you work in it. Wado Kai some of the best fighters in the world. You just had crappy teachers. just saying.... no offense.

  • 1:12 - 1:23 I've been tossed around in Karate but still, holy sh..

  • malaysia, indonesia, thailand, philippines, etc...ur all frm the same friggin region- south east asia! so of course there'd be certain similarities in cultures, language, art n all...

all this bicker is like saying the chinese stole the origin of chopsticks from japan, n japan took it frm korea..or something like tht. see how useless it sounds??

  • i practice silat more and more i think the pendekar in this video incridible

have a wonderful technique and amazing speed !

  • @FORTHEPIG what do u practice ???

  • @FORTHEPIG ur a toilet cleaner ???? ouch shoudn't have dropped out right ?

  • worldcup

  • shit...

  • I practise karate, but i have to say..... RESPECT

  • @morningAngel09 fake. he died bcs he get cursed =.=

  • Comment removed

  • i cant believe what i am reading at the comments. there is no exact origin of the silat martial art except that it is was commonly practice in the malayo archipelago (malaysia, indonesia, singapore) the most plausible theory of its origin is that it is derived from south asia. now will you all get over yourselves and stop comparing nations you guys are basically the same race.

  • its known as pencak silat in Indonesia and Seni Silat in Malaysia

  • 1:31 mad move

  • @weirdmafia go to wikipedia and see it for yourself. i wouldnt blame you though, malaysia does pretty much claim everything from us

  • who says that silat didnt originate from malaysia ..... suck ur own @#$% .. explain silat nasru haq , silat cekak .and silat gayung ....

  • fyi; Silat origin is from indonesia, not malaysia, not singapore, not etc. FUCK THOSE WHO SAYS SILAT IS FROM MALAYSIA

  • @Muvviiitme ...silat is from malaysia u idiot ...... explain silat gayung , cekak helang and nasru haq ......

  • @Muvviiitme according to Malaysia dictionary if you translate the word of silat to english, it will be martial art. silat is a word. In every country that speak Malay we used to call every kind of martial art is silat. even kung fu we used to call it silat. BTW nowadays we know pencak silat is from indonesia and seni silat is from malaysia ;))

  • Very impressive!! Smooth and deadly.

  • What is the Silat style at 1:05, 1:39, and 2:16? It looks like a copy of Kung Fu...

  • Well, it WAS a silat exponent who delivered the Dim Mak (death touch) to Bruce Lee that killed Bruce 3 months later.

  • @paraconti

Don't believe in this kind of self-glorifying fairy tale.

  • @Skillking22

Don't be jealous that it wasn't your choice of martial art that did Bruce in pls. It WAS silat.

  • @paraconti

Please, Bruce Lee died of overdose of pills. I know you got that piece of info from a Malaysian martial arts magazine, isn't it? I read it before. Zero source of info + zero testimonies to validate the claims + zero evidence to prove that Bruce died of physical attack = self-glorifying bullshit. I have great respect for this Southeast Asian martial art but please, don't make any blasphemous fallacies.

  • @Skillking22

Bot you must really be jealous of silat! Look Bruce himself admitted he was expecting to die from the dim mak administered to him by a silat master in a no-holds barred challenge. Look up youtube to get the audio recording. And yes - it WAS Bruce's voice. His students also gave interviews to the same effect. PLS ACCEPT REALITY.

  • @paraconti

Just accept the reality and wake up from your Malay-centric self-glorifying illusion. Medical reports hadt already confimed that Bruce Lee died of OVERDOSE OF MEDICINE. Furthermore, students of Meor Abdul Rahman, the alleged Silat Master had already denied any bouts of their master with Bruce Lee.

  • @Skillking22

God you're ignorant and stupid as well. I wish you'd just go away as stupid idiots should. IT WASN"T A MALAYSIAN SILAT MASTER WHO KILLED BRUCE. It was Dicky Dzulkarnian, an Indonesian master. And before you start your nonsense, he was OFFICIALLY acknowledged by the Indonesian government as having fought Bruce in the match. The fight was recorded, you idiot. It's even on Youtube! God do you even bother to check your facts?

  • @paraconti

Hmm, I was already expecting you to say that. I busted your Malaysian myth, and now you tried to change the tide by putting in someone else - Dicky Dzulkamian. Epic fail. Master Dicky Dzulkarnian made a public statement that he had never ever fought with Bruce Lee during a Silat championship in 1987 in Malaysia and had apologized should the myths hurt him and his family. The fight is not even on Youtube, asshole.

  • @paraconti

Eh just to let you know Bruce Lee died from ''excess fluid in his brain'' the main factors in his death were

    1) Stress related

    2) Reaction to a tablet he took

    3) illness whilst filming & some believe that his use of ''hash brownies'' had an affect on his overall health this is backed by various autopsy & chemists who analysed Lee after his death.

As for fighting a Silat master the closest Lee would have come to knowing Silat back in the 70s was from Dan.

  • @paraconti NOT an F_ing Chance! iam not putting your art down but this is bullshido. find me proof i looked and found nothing,

  • @paraconti

Please, there are already tonnes of myths surrounding Bruce's death, and you Malaysian retards are just one of them fucking opportunists trying to capitalize on his death. I have great respect for Silat, but you have no dignity at all.

  • @Skillking22

I don't think you even respect your own mother. You're prolly a fat lonely retard with pimples and no girlfriends, no friends even, and it's no wonder why. Stop talking nonsense and maybe ppl will take you seriously. I mean, it's like you're carrying on abt this because you NEED someone to reply back to you. Look, go find real friends. heack I sure don't want to be yours. Incidentally, you're on my block list of psychos, so don't bother replying. I can't see you anymore thank god.

  • @paraconti

Now I truly have great respect for this master for his sincerity, and I have high regards for Silat for its beauty and efficiency, but not assholes like you who lied just to glorify yourselves and put others down. You don't even qualify to learn martial arts in the first place (if you had learnt one). You are absolutely a disgrace to all martial artists around the world. And for making pointless personal attacks, I salute your utmost stupidity. Get fucking lost.

  • @paraconti

PS i do Silat , give me evidence not only of Bruce Lee being in a region where Silat was known back in the 70s. Or even better yet give me evidence of ''death touch'' there are techniques that kill from heavy striking to certain areas on the body, but that can be explained through human anatomy & physics, but there is NO such thing as ''hit & you die 3 days later'' techniques

  • @tvrulesnation chuck Norris round house kick XD

  • @paraconti 1 NOT an F_ing Chance! iam not putting your art down but this is bullshido. find me proof i looked and found nothing,

  • silat is the best

  • This style looks very nice and real.

  • great a circus

  • I consider Silat Is the best! unlike any other martial ats, silat considers on 2 arms or 2 legs snapping and mainly used on defences. Within a chance, they knock down the enemy when they have a chance. Silat arts are mainly practised in all malay and indo-china countries, yep! dont get that wrong, muay thai is silat! Silat Tomoi! its called

  • @T3TLOL You are correct, the traditional Thai styles, especially in the North look just like Silat and so do many arts in Burma and Cambodia. It's a great art and all of S.E. Asians should be proud of it.

  • @248thEvan: in the end most martial arts looks the same in sparring. It's the philosophy and training method that often differs. Very few actually uses swords, however the techniques can be applied to a stick or a many other weapons, The defensive techniques are still useful as well even if it's not a sword that you defend yourself against. Sword training is also useful for training your wrists. Nothing is a waste of time, each experience improves you character in many useful ways.

  • @248thEvan Wow your post is full of shit. "karate that you can actually use"..... would be karate.

As to the second part of your post, you obviously don't understand anything about martial arts. Go bang your head against a wall.

  • this song is why my new psn name is KlFREESTYLER

  • whats the song title ?

  • @Dx3lessSln freestyler..sorry for the late reply..:)

  • mari mencuba Silat Jurus Minangkabau

  • 3:12, such a bad ass.....

  • mmg gempak la..

p skang da xleh da nk men mcm ni...

  • The throw at 1:12 was badass man

  • @Chematofit Yeh I hope the dude can still fight, it looked like his neck was history!!

  • when silat olahraga was first introduced, the rules were not that strict. in the end, after each fight, almost every fighters had suffered either minor injuries or permanent injuries. after a lot of consideration, this is the result after taking account of reducing possible damage to young talented fighters. and thus, it was reduced to almost nothing. and the principle in silat is that, u fall down u die. thus it focuses more on standing, but there are also lot of submission and ground moves

  • @cyru, silat is quite the mixture of grappling, striking, locks, throw downs. the only thing is that silat olahraga which is demostrated in this video, is a very limited, sports type of silat. even the practitioner of silat finds it difficult to play in olahraga due to the limitations imposed. most of the moves are not allowed. in fact, the limitations are about 90%. the only thing remained if i may give my opinion, would be the hand moves, namely 'bunga'.

  • Alot of times they end up on the ground. I dont understand why they don't grapple more often. Or... is it in a form I dont recognize. Sure, they can trip some guy really good, but where do they go from there? The opponent is basically on top of em...

  • @CYRUSsoreal1987 They use Stand-up fighting rules.

  • most of these low 'swipes' are meant to break legs, crushing the shin-bone with the heel.. at least that's how I learned em o_O. Obviously this is not allowed in tournaments. I guess it's all about the takedowns here

  • silat is from indonesia, and i live in indonesia :)

  • take it easy dude. Its just an art. Every martial art from asia is an art of using hand and foot to take someone down. The sword fighting is an art to train your speed and observation. Its good for health too. try it if u dare. hehe

  • wtf 3:10

  • bomfunk mc's -freestyler if im not mistaken!

  • 3:10 Lesson learned : Don't let a Silat master catch your leg or hand. :)

  • I think if Silat Master catches a leg of anyone who has even highschool level grappling experience, he would be doing himself a great disservice. He would not do anything with that leg, but will wind up beaten on the ground. Silat guys especially should keep the action standing.

  • @BushidoCode72 True. Silat specializes in striking and take-down techniques, but not ground technique, although ground technique from dominating position also performed in some branches of Silat. Furthermore, some of the techniques were also forbidden as they are too lethal.

  • can some tellme name of music used here? please, tks

  • @hk5iiq

    It's "Freestyler".

  • LOL @ 1:31 LMFAO Siiiick!

  • Wich styles are in these video?

    Pencak silat?

  • the only thing that resembled silat was 2:58 which is a type of stance.

other then that this video is bullshit.

Silat is an art not a sport, seriously it wil be such a shame if it takes the same path Taekwondo did (mcdojos, barely recognisable, bad techniques, half trained gurus)

1:04 do that to a silat practicioner (that stomp) the first thing they will do is trap your foot or sweep your foot.

this video is actually embaressing Silat, seriously what the fuck is this meant to be?

  • Is there real Silat on YouTube, can you link us to it? Any video anywhere on the net that shows Silat the way it should be IYO?

  • Comment removed

  • interesting thx

  • @fourplusseven

ay no problem just alot of people have posted styles that arn't even silat up on youtube or if so have represented it VERY badly.

as you saw in that video Silat includes more than just trying to kick somebody out of a circle ring.

hence why if this art does get into the olympics its fucked, the whole history of silat doesn't correspond with a sport.

watch the Human Weapon ''silat'' episode it will give you a brief eg of Silat & its history.

  • theres a lot of silat video in youtube..serach for

    "silat gayong malaysia" or

    "silat pusaka gayong" or

    "silat cekak hanafi"

  • 1:10 awesome!!

  • @kurniasan

Do you mean the lifting the opponent up and slaming him down?Yeah,it's my favourite attack.

  • @Wee2Yang, yeah that. I wont do that in real life :(

  • these guys are in for the kill!

The 3 girls who do forms are amazing btw!

  • this ain't no silat this is a wrestling match

  • i'm doing pencak silat my own.

but it's very hard to learn.

and it's indeed the most deadly fighting sport on earth

  • Silat KungFu and TKD r the most dangerous martial arts on earth and also the most misunderstood and misconcepttonmised arts on the world. I agree this silat depicted here is just the sports category and yet u can see itts very very good . IMAGINE THE REAL ONE :O i dont want to bear to thk of it . Its jsut fucking brutal Jusst like mortal komBAT !!! LOL

  • @MechPhantom tkd is the worlds most useless ma

  • no its not the most useless. if you get round housed in the face by a tkd guy like dude got kicked in his face in the above vid its DEATH. axe kick= death, side kick=death, wheel kick=death. im not even tkd and i know this. i dont sleep on any ma.

  • LOL? how would u know . Remember this expect the unexpected.

  • what is the song in the beginning?
