The .22 LR is terribly inadequate for self defense and should only be used if it's all you have. The .44 Magnum, while excessive, is perfectly acceptable. In defense of yourself or your family, your objective is to stop the aggressor by whatever means are at hand.
shut tha fuk up if we needed oil so bad how bout idk drill for our own fukn oil and if u think a handgun that big is bad how about a 12 ga 70mm slug not even a comparison at the least
shut tha fuk up if we needed oil so bad how bout idk drill for our own fukn oil and if u think a handgun that big is bad how about a 12 ga 70mm slug not even a comparison at least
??? Fact is, the .44 Mag is seldom used for self defense or home defense and shouldn't be. A 44 Mag can penetrate 3 or 4 or more walls in a house or apartment, making it unsafe from that standpoint. But it's a great cartridge for hunting game like deer and pigs. So the "argument" isn't really applicable.
All that this video proves to me is that if someone breaks in to your house with the intent to cause you, or a loved one, harm you are going to reach for that 44 mag before you go for the 22 lr.
Is .44 a bit of overkill for self defense? Yes, you can get the job done quite well with a .45 ACP. Should the government be the ones to tell you how you protect yourself or your family? Hell no!
The best "concealed carry" self defence" load, in my opinion, is the .380 that can be used in a Ruger LCP. Very light gun with a nasty kick. A Glock 17 in 9mm is a nice load for home defence. More powerful and very little kick. .38 revolvers are clumbsy, but very reliable. The .44 magnum is a joke . A bullet from that would probably blow a person in half. The .45 ACP is less powerful than the .44 magnum but the gun is heavy. I've never heard of a .380 outperform a .45 ACP
hahaha the guy who posted shit video is rediculous. first of all a .22lr is a worthless self defense round. second of all, no one really conceal carrys a .44 magnum, mainly .38 special, .380, 9mm, .40sw and .45acp. all of those rounds are very deadly, and it also doesnt matter what caliber you have its all in the ammunition you are firing. a .380 can outperform a .45acp all because of the load
I'm just kidding. I was just pushing people's buttons. Of course I like the .44 Magnum. I just said all that in case the Feds were watching and thought I was promoting excessive force. Only criminals use excessive force, we can't. We must ask them for forgiveness not put bullets in them.
guns are noisy when they go bang and they will damage your hearing. Big cars are bad, too. They guzzle gas and send we billions of dollars over to countries that hate us. I drive a small car.
A twenty two is not perfectly suitable for self defense and hearing protection should always be worn when firing even a .22. That being said a small car may be suitable for you but may not be suitable for those with a large family. The beauty of Capitalism and our once great country is the Constitution and the Second Amendment. If you don't want a big car or a big gun don't buy one. Don't try and regulate the rest of us. We kicked the British out for that already.
All of what you say is OK to a point. Someone with a large family should learn to keep it in his pants. I don't want to pay for his irresponsible behaviour in the bedroom, just like I don't want to subsidize some fat bastard in a jet plane who takes up two seat and pays the same as me in one seat. Besides, 4000 plus kids died in Iraq.Afgan so that you can ride around in your gas guzzler.
I drive a Honda and I am a Vietnam Veteran. You are very small man. You are proof that Global Whining is a man made phenomenon. In your case it's to late to stop the meltdown. I don't look at life in the sick convoluted, extremely self centered way you do but you have a nice day. Okay?
The body will NOT explode like those jugs. Water in the body is contained inside muscle, bone, and tissue. Are you seriously that ignorant? The notion of human rights ends at the exact moment someone breaks into my home. If you don't want to get shot, don't break into my home! I will feel very sorry for your family if they day comes that you have to defend them with a .22 sir.
Well I have a .22 a 9mm and a .44 magnum. The .44 is a lever action rifle and out hunting if I come across a bear I would much rather have the .44 than a .22 or the 9mm! So for that self defense the .44 wins. As far as in my home well I wouldn't try using a rifle in close proximity for self defense and I honestly don't want to clean up the mess afterwrds either which is the reason for my 9mm handgun. A .22 can get you killed if the criminal has a gun and doesn't die when you shoot him!! Period!
The 44 magnum is an awesome weapon but I do not approve of its use as a self defense weapon. A slug from this gun will blow a person apart since we are 70% water. A 22 will still stop someone and would probably not be fatal.
I think if someone wants a .44 magnum. Then that is THEIR right. Once you state that "this or that" need to be banned, you bring in the "government". Which is good for no one. The .44 mag has a place, I own one, I hunt with mine. I do not use it for self defense as that is not really what it was meant for. And if someone is breaking into my house to harm my family or myself. I will shoot to neutralize the threat in the most effective way. A .22 for home defense is not the most effective.
I agree that a 22 is not that effective as a 44 as a self defense weapon , but it will result in a greater chance of a fatal shot. Usually, if the criminal survives they can get a lawyer and sue you for use of excessive force since they would claim they were only robbing you to steal your possessions not inflict harm on you. The law works its wonders in mysterious ways. You should compare a "pumpkin ball" out of a shotgun to your 44.
It is more likely that you will kill someone with a 44 magnum than a 22 if the shot is not well placed. A 44 magnum is excessive and should not be allowed. As you could see in the video, the water jug exploded when hit by the magnum ( the body is 70% water) . A 22 just puched a hole in the water jug. I think people have been watching too many movies.
based off of control, comfortability, and your knowledge of the firearm of your choosing. to make a statement that these heavier caliber guns should be banned is ridiculous. As a gun owner you cant determine who lives or die, your concern as police officers is to stop the threat. EX: someone breaking in my home with heavier caliber weapons, usually more than one person, fully covered, I don't think I want to put my families life on the line with a 22.or 32 caliber. Its just my opionion. peace
First I like to say that, any true, knowledegable, gun owner, should know; and ( for those who do not) when purchasing a firearm, you do not purchase it base on one factor; being the caliber or size of the weapon. No one has the ability to determine if a 44 mag. or a .22 caliber will get the job done. I have witness people have died from being shot with a .22 or .32 cailber pistol and other have lived with heavier cailber. It all comes down to shot placement... You suppose to purchase a firearm.
I don't know WHO some people are being attacked by or being robbed by, but even a 22 would atleast make em take a step back, and even then you could shoot 2x or 3x, a 32 or 9mm would be excessive really if the person doesn't know what they are doing, cause one WRONG shot and they could kill the person, whereas with a smaller weapon they could simply incapacitate them.....
500 magnum is the most powerful production handgun from what i recall and anything less than a 32 is not good for self defense. in my tests i find that a compact 9mm with hydrashock or winchester silvertips are the best personal defense that is just my thought from my tests. not powerful enough to blow someone in half or throw your aim off to bad incase you need to make a follow up shot . home defense i would go with a 12 or 20 ga with bird shot so it dont kill someone in the next room
just what i found to be the best FOR ME you know different strokes for different folks but i agree i do not like large caliber pistols there worthless for defense maybe there ok just for self defense against a grisly bear but probably wont have time to wrestle that gun back down for a second shot befor it gets you lol
The question should be "How much is enough?" If you recall, one of the guns the Virginia Tech murderer used was a 22 Walther. A 44 magnum is a diabolical weapon and should be banned. I am a gun person but I believe in gun control. These excessively large calibers serve no purpose. I think a bullet of sufficient power (i.e. a 22, 32) to stop but not kill is all that is needed.
Don't bring a 22 to a magnum show down with a bear
