Someone several years ago found that there were 6 people still alive who had worked in the silent film making business. Probably by now they are all gone. No one left to tell us details of how silents were made.
Bob, I have always loved this song and the beautiful lyrics. This is so different, you just can't be melancholy listing to this great orchestra and this upbeat arrangement. It is PERFECT and your photos of the beautiful actresses show your excellent taste in women! :-) Beautiful! Thanks.
I love the one, two, three taking turns at 55 secs in the musical segment...and the muted horns right after. It's a sappy melody, but is so heartfelt...gotta love the decade!!
It is always enjoyable to see the cover of the sheet music. There is a lot of good art there. Thanks.

Beautiful rendition. This is vastly different from Walter Van Brunt's 1915 recording for Edison.

Beautiful rendition, more interesting than Whiteman's

Love this!I know it from a few years later when Al Bowlley recorded it.Maybe it took a few years to reach England

Glad you like it. I bet Al's version is super! I have not heard anything that he did that was not perfect.

Al recorded it in the states in 1935, While he was still with Noble. Don't believe the orchestra is Noble's though.

Your welcome Fred. I like this house band a lot.
pax41 3 years ago
Fred the record does not credit the vocalist but I am almost sure this is Franklyn Baur. Do you know?
pax41 3 years ago
Rust says its Baur. Wonderful arrangement. This is only their 3rd side.
