Since most of the people in South Ossetia are not Georgians, why not let them have self-determination, and split from Georgia if they want to? Let the place be divided in two, with Georgians moving to one part, which can stay in Georgia, and the non-Georgians moving to the other part, which can go independent, or join Russia.
This is how we handled the Servian province of Kosovo. So if it is fair for Serbia, it's fair for Georgia.
