Great bike man, looks and sounds great. I ride a 2008 Deluxe with Big guns 3 street Sweepers and I keep scraping on hard right turns. Love the sound but I even bounced the ass end over a few times this year she hit so hard. Thinking of getting a set of Legend series Pamonas from Samson..... any thoughts? Again, great ride ya got there....
@robertv9 Thanks for the comment! I have also had some issues with the pipes dragging on right turns. I recently cut the one-piece heat shields off at the end to prevent it. I know the pipes cost $700 new, but the way I ride I had to do something before I laid her down. I am soon buying a set of Samson Long Cannons and adding a set of "Spit-Fire" flame throwers.
@ kalzx they sound alot better than a street bike, street bikes sound like fucking mosquitos ,harleys are badass beutiful bike man loud ass hell man. ride safe!
The baffles are removed, unfortunately the BG3s have a one piece, welded heat shield and welded baffles. I bought the "Legend Series" which have one piece clamp-on heat shields and bolt in baffles. Samson is catching a lot of heat for not informing people in the right way about this. BG3s are still bad-ass pipes though.
I've got Samson as well on my 89 FLHS but no baffles and my heat shields just have old school clamps on them. Had to replace the clamps today actually 2 were busted :(
It is just the rear, the front forks are actually 6" longer than stock now. The longer forks stretch out the wheel-base and lower the whole bike. This weekend I will be making new videos and posting them.
Hey Man, The bike sounds SICK!!! Love it! I've got an '08 Nightrain with basically the same setup. Is your bike lowered at all?? I can't tell. I'm thinkin about lowering mine but I don't comprimise the ride too much. If so how much, And how do you find it with a passenger??
Thanks man, the bike is lowered 1 1/2" in this video. Now it's lowered in the rear 2 1/2" total with a 18 degree rake kit that has 6" over stock tubes in the front. The ride did'nt change much with the first lower, the second did make it more stiff overall.
I have a 04 train and digging the ripsaws. I want to get the LS rips and remove baffles as well. You said you added the Vance and Hines fuelpak. What air intake is that? How much difference in HP and gas mileage did you see?. How much should I expect on the tune from a harley or performance shop? I pretty much want to run the same set up and looking for some advice before I put the money forward, any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Your setup is second to none that I've looked up!!!
Thanks man, the intake is Screamin Eagle, the fuel controller is Vance&Hines. I did notice an increase in HP, but the mpg went down slightly. Assuming yours is fuel injected, all you have to do with Fuelpak is email them what your set-up is, and they send you a map to plug into the unit. Easy stuff, no need for a laptop. If you want this sound, you will for sure need the LS ripsaws. The BG3s baffles are not removable. I did all the work myself so, if you have any more questions let me know.
Hey larrwill. I like the sound of your pipes. I plan on buying the same pipes for my softail standard this spring. Have you had any problems with the legend exhaust? Like chrome peeling or the welds cracking? Ive heard some people with big gun 1s and 2s that have had that problem.
I could not be happier with the Legend Series Rip Saws. I did a lot of research before I bought them. They are made to the same standards as the BG3s. They have a one-piece heat shield that is removable, unlike the BG3s that have a one piece non-removable shield. Also, the BG3s have the baffles welded in, and in my opinion don't sound all that good. The other difference is, the legend series are brand new, and the BG1s and BG2s have some age on them. I would highly recommend the Legend Series.
Thanks for the info. Cant wait till this spring to hear them on my bike. In this video do you have the baffles in or out. I agree with the guy that said best sounding bike on youtube...without a doubt!
ya i made the mistake and bought the bg3 rip saws couple months ago and they made it sound like a honda but only difference i do believe with your pipes and the bg2 is that you have seamless heatshields and the bg2's will have them all the way back until the turn downs but thanks for the recommendation i will def look into that.thanks man
love the sound so much i just bought a pair of the big gun 2 rip saws after watching your two vids man haha love the sound.i'll post it this spring when i get them on-keep it on 2
Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm not sure about the Big Gun2s but, I did discover the Big Gun3s baffles are welded in. I bought the "Legend Series" from the Samson website and removed the stock baffles to make it sound like this. Over the summer, I ran into a fellow the bought the BG3s with the same bike I have, and he was pissed at how much better mine sounded than his. If your bike is injected I recommend the Fuelpak from Vance and Hines. You can fine tune it for no baffles.
best sounding bike on youtube. i have an 07 wide glide with SAMSON legend boloney cuts no baffles with performance rings, sounds the same. why have a Harley if it doesn't sound like this!!!!!?????
best sounding bike on YouTube by far. I have an 07 wide glide samson legend boloney cuts no baffles with performance rings, sound the same. why have a harley if it doesn't sound like this!!!!!!
It's an injected 06, the Ripsaws have a one-piece heat shield. They are seamless just like the BG3s, the only difference is, the baffles and heat shields are removable. Two weeks ago I was at an event with a lot of bikes, and met this guy with a 08 Train that had the Ripsaw BG3s. I started mine and he about sh** because he didn't know they came with baffles in them. He was pissed about not being able to remove them.
Yeah i can tell they didnt have baffles. Nice and loud. I was looking at the legend series before i bought the big gun 2s. Hey do the legend series have heat sheilds? I noticed your pipes didnt have any seams, Are they all one solid pipe? I was looking to buy the original big guns but they have no sheilds, and they tend to turn blue. So i went with the 2s with no baffle and heat sheilds.
sounds nice brother!!

The internals of the engine are stock. I added the Fuelpak from Vance & Hines to reprogram the fuel management system.
