  • why arent the .50 cals in a closed thing on the M1 like they are on the M60

  • @GenerationKill1010

The cupola mount gun was a pain and added nearly a foot in height to the tank. It was a bitch to load inside with the ammo belt wrapping around the cupola. The .50 on both tanks is fired inside the vehicle, so you really don't lose much utility.

  • @than357 O that does make sense.Thank you

  • Is the M60A3 capable of firing accurately on the move like the M1? I know it has a stabilized gun.

  • @WASPfreak

M60A3 had a rudimentary stab system - you had to find the sweet spot (around 10-15 mph) that the sight would more or less balance out at and you could shoot and move. Nothing compared to the Abrams.

  • @than357 Oh, ok. I know for sure the Abrams can get a first round hit at 40 miles per hour. Do you have any info on the T-55/62/72? I heard they have stabilization systems, too.

  • @WASPfreak

No familarity besides their being targets - sorry. The limited elevation and depression of the gun is at least one issue that the Abrams doesn't have and would interfere cross-country stabilization.

  • @than357 Thanks a bunch.

  • 1970 i was in 2rd Armored Divsion HELL ON WHEELS and this brings back some old memorys and some of the BEST friends i ever met.....Thanks for posting this

  • I always like t55 and m60

  • Was this during a CALFEX or just regular Tank Tables?

  • @Robd40

If I remember right it was Tank Table VII or VIII. First time we had a firing range at Ft. Drum that we could do qualification on.

  • Six pack!

  • In 1974, I was a Marine tank commander in Cuba. I took the .50 cal out and fired it from the hip while standing on the ground. Almost as good as sex. OOORAH!!!!

  • trying to find one of these for sale is a freaking bitch.

if any one sees one for sale let me know.

  • Cannister shot work really well on Infantry.

  • The m60 would fucking kill the t90 and any of u faggots who disagree lol America best country in the world even better than all of it's allies if u disagree u can fuck off because u are a whining little bitch who deserves a boot on ur face and bayonet through ur chest fuck all countries except USA Brits are effin counts who don't know shit about fighting lol =)

  • @ak907jk Of course M60 would fucking kill T90 ..........Russian tanks are faggots tanks made of tin foil.

  • @ak907jk hey shithead, yer a disgrace to america, and you know jack shit about fighting, we have a saying in England "those that can, do....those that cant, talk about it" you talk a good fight pisswit, and thats all you'll ever do.

  • @johnguy1969 yes and you are a disgrace to humanity you hypocritical faggot oh man another bitch acting like he is so much better than everyone else you condescending little fuck piss off any ways I was just trollin you stupid fuck I had just made my account and trolled moron but go back to your pathetic little life trying to shit talk every troll i am not a troll but that was when I first made my account

  • @ak907jk i dont think i'm better than everyone else, just you limpdick ;)

  • @johnguy1969 hehe yea thats all you'll ever do is think your better than me

  • the r.o.c. has the m60-a1 so whats the difference with the m60 a-3? why dont they have that?

  • to quote some old school tankers..the m-60 is the best defensive tank in world that was back in 1999 while I was in ft knox training on the abrams

  • @anubis8181 Agreed. Get a decent loader & gunner and it'd clear the field. The TTS was far superior to the M1 integrated sight. As long as you weren't trying to shoot and move at the same time you were in business. Firing on the move was a pain until you hit that sweet speed spot when the reticle would stop hopping around.

  • The m-60 is archetype of what a tank is supposed to be. Today it is still a fine tank.

  • sounds alot like the 88 wounder if they have similar engines

  • 7Η ΕΜΑ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥΠΟΛΗ 99Β ΕΣΟ. 259 ΣΕΙΡΑ

  • fixed DAT screwup on the M60A1Rise

    main gun M-68 105 mm

    M-240 7.62 coax

    M-85 50 cal AA gun

  • I remember seeing m60 tanks at ft polk ...they shake the ground when they roll past

  • I've heard that the M1 has to be refueled every 6 hours as it uses the same amount of fuel at any speed. And the M60 had to be refueled on average every 48 hours depending on how far and fast they traveled. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is fuel consumption seems to be a bit of a problem for the M1.

  • is the gun smooth bore or rifled.

  • @bradlyfan

    R

  • I was on M60A1 and M551 Sheridans.........1970s & 80s!

  • Our tanks are nothing compared to the Russian T-90's!

  • @juanharryhenry You don't know what you're talking about. Every expert in hte field recognies the M1A1 Abrams as the best tank in the world. The Germans also have a tank that is very close to the Abrams.

  • @RBL5448 well the leopard 2 has almost no combat experience but there are some things that make the leo better than the abrams. 1. the abrams uses the same gun like the leo, but with shortened barrel. 2. the leo is faster and lighter than the abrams, 3. the leo has more combat range and driving range due to more efficient engines and can use almost every combustable liquid as fuel and lastly it uses no depleted uranium in is armour and ammunition

  • M60s performance in the gulf was extraordinary. The T-72 and the M60 are the same generation tank, and both were upgraded fairly evenly. The M60 wiped the floor with it despite having far less armor due to its outstanding optics (always a large advantage of western tanks...why the centurion wiped out T-55s and -62s in Israel with impunity.)

    4:37 Dat Continental turbodiesel... :D

  • @redreaper2020 T-72 and M60 are not the same generation(1970s vs 1960s)! Most of Iraq's tanks were old T-55 not T-72s and even the T-72s they had, were seriously underequiped( no thermal, basic optics, no composites or reactive armor, no tungsten core rounds, basic copper lined heat rounds...).

  • @S300V Western optics have always had the edge on Russian optics. It's why the Centurion and Super Sherman, both not the greatest tanks in the world (lightly armored, gas-fueled, etc) did good in Israel.

The Iraqis had no chance--Russia evened the playing field with gun-launched missiles (longer range but little accuracy at that range due to the beam-riding guidance--but at the same range as L/44 gun, has an advantage). IRAQ DIDN'T BUY THOSE ROUNDS. Therefore they were fucked.

  • @redreaper2020 You have to take into account that they never sold their good optics to third world countries (primarily because of maintainance issues). Centurion was actually pretty well armored for its time, and as you know it was always the Israel's air force that did the main job. Iraq didnt just not buy those rounds, but also didnt buy proper AT rounds. Btw M60 is a great tank anyway, infact the upgraded version was in some ways better than the M1 back then. Just wanted to point out stuff.

  • @S300V true. the optics wasn't maintenance, it was disinformation--give a worse impression, save their best for last. Russia did that VERY often.

Steel rod ammo was crap, the iraqis were not too smart with that. You have good points and I agree 100%

Israel's air force always had a big hand, but they were good with tanks. They always used their tanks according to the best assets of that tank--Centurions' range & gun, captured T55s' heavy armor, etc.

  • @fbiwheatley There was a M60 type machine gun in the M60. Next to the main gun is a coax type 30 cal fired by the gunner.

  • @fbiwheatley Actually, the M60A3 had an M240 machine gun mounted "coaxially" on the left of the main gun (the loader's position). An M240 is 7.62 mm as well, and the TC could call for its use against personnel, light targets etc. by calling "Gunner Coax Troops." The M240 coax was considerably more reliable than the M60...

  • @patrikasLTL Only if you don't get them first.

  • great video brings me back to 3-68th ar 4th inf div days with our m60a3s

  • one of the most shittiest tanks ever built

  • @Scoutrussp7 Get out.

  • I have the same opinion about the cupola as the Israelis, too big of a target.

  • Patricas, you dont know a damn thing about tanks.I suggest you stop lipping off about m60's.You can fire 3 rounds in 15 seconds when the loader is fresh. After heaving 25 rounds into the gun you start getting tired, which means your loading time will increase.A tank crew is a well oiled machine. When you live in your tank for 3 weeks at a time you get to know what the other crew members are gonna do before they do it.You react not think.Thinking wastes time.Thats a luxury a crew cant afford

  • For all of you worrying about armor thickness,Lets not forget that the armor is sloped. This essentially quadruples the thickness. An rpg can not penetrate an m 60 with a frontal shot. However it can penetrate the rear of the turret, this is where the armor is thinnest and is not sloped. This is the worst hit possible as it would set off all the main gun rounds and incinerate the crew.

  • @916fanatic1 This is true of all armoured vehicles ever made.

  • @patrikasLTL The m 60 does NOT burn 4 gallons per mile unless you are on hilly, muddy terrain.Which would kill any heavy vehicles mileage. On the road it burns about just over a gallon per mile. This gives a 300 mile range.

  • What sort of protection does bare rolled homogenous armour offer nowadays? I know before rocket launchers and recoilless rifles became available that steel did just fine, but what about now? How do you use steel to protect against a shaped charge or, god forbid, a fin stabilised penetrator?

  • This is the closest video I have seen for what I did in the military, even the same model tank. I just remember alot more dust, dirt and grime....LOL.

  • Whats the difference between the m60 and the m1?

  • @slinedawg1990 two diferent vehicles, go to my site mate, we got an in depth M60 page and M1A! page

  • @slinedawg1990 M60 has a 105 mm gun and the abrams has a 120mm.Its diesel powered instead of tubine power. The m1 has much better armor and suspension and is 15 mph faster (governed). It also has much better protection for the crew. The ammo is stored in a compartment with blast proof doors and armor panels that blow off and vent the ammo explosion up and away from the crew. The m60 carries more ammo though.63 main gun rounds instead of the 40 or so on the m1.I was on m60's in the military.

  • @slinedawg1990 20-30 years of technological advances... It's a whole different system.

  • @slinedawg1990 Whats the difference between the M60 and the M1? About a million dollars!

  • @slinedawg1990 Everything. Some very early M1s (non A1) did use the same 105mm main gun as the M60, but that seemed to be more of a stop gap to get them into service quickly in Europe. Other than that, the M1 is a completely new design and has nothing to do with the Patton series of tanks.

  • @slinedawg1990 M 1 was created in 1980 and M60 since the 1960's ...M 1 is now the main USA tank ....while M 60 stills in reserve ...over 9000 M 1 's were built :) ..this is a simple definition ;)

  • @slinedawg1990 the m60 is in fact an upgunned, up armoured and "high tech" injectet ww2 tank and is based on the m26 pershing desing

the abrams is the american result of the german american tank desing workshop in the 80s

germanys result is the leopard 2

  • @TheLordZhufor not really. the m46 Patton was a upgraded Pershing. the design started changing on the hull, and most notably the turret, with the m47 Patton. the m48 was a whole new beast. if any thing the m60 is an improvement/evolution of the 1950s m48 patton.

the only thing that remained consistent on the m46-48 was that the gun caliper was 90mm and the tanks names were Patton. the m48 also did have upgrades to fit it with the 105mm.

  • @178thbattlegroup so while the tanks grate grate grate ancestor was the m26. the Patton line evolved so much that by the time the 48 was around. you wouldn't know it was a spin off of the Pershing unless you traced its roots.

  • @178thbattlegroup The engine from the 46 to the 60 is the same as well, they all used varients of the AVDS 1790

it went from carborator to fuel injection to diesel. They family resemblence is there if you look close. It was evolution not revolution like the M60 to M1. The M48 with the 105 was the M48A5 a bit cramped but a good tank.

  • @tangocharlie11 the m1 is strange.. some things are improved but most is a step backwards.. for example the engine on the Abrams sucks ass.

yes the resemblance is close on 48 to 60. but those are the only 2. the 46 and 47 look nothing like the other 2. or each other for that matter.

as for evolution. i already said that..

i fail to see the point of your reply comment.

  • @178thbattlegroup you have to have been an M60A3 crewman to understand what six pack means. If you are not a tanker it would pointless to discuss. I never had any issues with the M1 engine. Didn't smell right but it was very reliable. Most issues I saw came from rhe turret systems.

You wouldn't think it was a step backward if you traded in your 60 for an M1.

  • @tangocharlie11 I don't know about that. A baseline M1 with a modern diesel, like the AVDS 1790-10, and a few minor alterations would be ideal, but there's a problem. There aren't any vanilla M1s left.

  • @slinedawg1990 The M-60 was a product of 1950's technology--basically an improvement of WWII's designs. The M-1 is a totally new design with radically new armor, engine and crew protection. If the M-60 has anything over the M-1, it is its 105mm rifiled cannon vs. the M-1's 120mm smoothbore....the trusty 105 is much more accurate at very long range, but tanks battles are rarely fought at such ranges any more.

  • @slinedawg1990 The M-60 was built to combat Soviet tanks in the 1960's and 70's, and the Abrams replaced it in the 1990's.

  • @TubaDudeNick Abrams replaced it in 1983

  • @WALancer I stand corrected! Thanks!!

  • iraq should bye these

  • The coax is the M240. The M240 is a far superior MG than the M60. It can also be dismounted and used as an infantry type light MG. Nowhere to hide form an M60A3 with TTS. Yes, I was trained and lived on an A3 for 4 years. It is a very capable MBT even today.

  • @georgeky1 Agreed, the m240 is probably the best light machine gun in the world. They will keep firing even when very dirty. And you can turn it into an mg42 just by putting it on the biggest diameter gas port setting.I personally fired over 1000 rounds without a single jam.Its easy to disassemble and clean tooAnd its's an open bolt design so you don't have to worry about rounds cooking off.

  • @fbiwheatley The M60 also had a 30 caliber machine gun next to the main gun. It was for firing at ground troops or whatever.

It was called a coax or coaxial as it fit in to a slot on the turret next to the 105 mm main gun. It was fast and fun to fire. It was controlled by the gunner.

    Bobby...

  • Thanks for the video.

It brings back old memories as a Gunner on the Qualification course.

We had IR sites only on the old A1 version.(Searchlight)

I was always proud to be a tanker when the grunts walked by us.

  • I agree with VickersIndependent: with a thermal sight the dismounts become flechette magnets. Toujours Prêt!

  • @M60A3commander thermal sights would have done well in the Hof corridor in germany. the warsaw pact tanks did not have thermal sights. Delta Company 1/2 ACR Toujour Pret.

  • Watch the video of the Centurion on Top Fives ;will tell you its max armour is 152mm. And will also say what happend to some T-62s when pitted against it; Soveit style en mass.

  • And by the way the M60 outlived the Centurion because it had thicker armour. The Centurion's armour was 152mm. So that means the M60's armour was far greater then 150mm.

  • ONCE AGIAN GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! That video US M60 A1 MBT states that the M^) had a max armour thickness of 120mm of armour; I have no idea where you get 150mm from. By the way the THERMAL SIGHT M60A3 can see right through those green bushes at the green men; can't hide there either. 4% why so when the NATO eqivalent the Carl Gustov can nail a T-62 at out to 700mm with superb rifled accuracy.

  • Well the IDF back in the 80's when they were phasing out the Centurion for not having enough armour still continued to use the M60 and still do today. Now the Centurion's max armour was 152mm at turret front, and the whole reason behind the M60's continued use was its armour, but wait this goes against,"the thickest sport is that little checkline on the turret which has 150mm of armour."So how can a tank with less armour then the Centurion outlive it!

  • Why would NATO officers call an AFV,whose low mobility, according to you, be a mere speedbump when more likely then not it will arrive last on the field after air power and recce?!

  • Hmm, I'd like to see a squad of conscript infantry, who more likely then not think they should be there, take a pot shot at a tank whose machine guns and cannon is firing angrily at them so as to disrupt their aim. Lets also see the max range at which an RPG-7 can also be used, it has an ASTOUNDING 4% hit rate at a tank at 500 meters. The M60's HE shell will smack them with 90% or better accuracy at 2,000 meters.

  • Those weren't RPG-7s that knocked out M60s they were AT-3s with over 400mm of RHA penitartion no tank of the day would've withstood a hit like that, and don't forget that IDF armoured tactics was to charge into an otherwise suicidal charge against any enemy. But that was only true until the IDF changed their tactics to easily neutralize AT postions bay lashing the launch point with MG fire do distract or even killl the operator.

  • Try saying that to IDF tankers that man the Magach 7 whose laminate armour array is proof against puny RPGs and even heaver AT-5s with 650mm RHA armour penitration!

  • I was on the m60 with 4/69 armor based at lee barracks in mainz.8th infantry division

  • man this brings back good old memory when I was a tanker with the 1st and 3rd armor Div. Germany..

  • Comment removed

  • M60 MG is 7.62mm, .50 is more powerful for AA role.

  • @TankNutDave I belive Swedish army uses a HK machinegun on the tanks.

  • @Axbent The m240 is the best machine gun made anywhere in the world, during the time i was on m60a3 tanks i never saw one jam or stop firing.

  • Does anyone know a PC Game with the M60 Tank in it?

  • yes yes wargame it against canadas leopard 1a3 and it does prevail in thicker armor sniping at far ranges...(why bother? because mission#1 was defend wisconsin!)...yes nato friends etc...

  • yes bladensburg1814 mainly is correct...ammo logistics must be a huge concern in a 100 hour non-stop slugfest!...no tank in combat is perfectly safe but its far far better than leg infantry in a cold mud foxhole in sleet cold rain...no way! let me die like a knight in shing armor!

  • I love my old tank and miss her far more than any human girlfriend!...i can visit 3 different ones in my area when a need a monthy fix!...

  • The video does in fact state that the M60a1 has 120mm of armour. This is only true for the turret sides ;but not for the frontal glacies. We wouldn't want the Soviets to learn about the M60's true protection from a documentry; it was the Cold War after all.

  • I honestly think they should not have stopped the js-3 stalin and t-10 lenin family line in 1960 (kruschev!)...the t-44...t-55...t-62...t-72...t-90 line is idiotic...t-64 evolves into t-80 and ukrainian t-84..better but same concerns...still idiotic designs! honestly I would take an m-48a5 patton 3 even before russian or chinese junk!

  • my numbers of rounds in each soviet tank autoloader ready to fire are averages .(each tank has slightly differing ammo loads )..intended to give reader an idea of battles and why russian tanks kind of have an idiotic design unless you have hordes to overrun american minefields....

  • clarification: soviet t-55 and t-62 do not have auto-loaders...its soviet t-64...t-72...t-80 and russian t-90..(note russians did not deploy t-90 into georgia war aug 2008...just t-72 vs t-72! oh the horror!...turrets must have popped off like flying frying pans!)...study grozney chechen war about russian t-80 disasters

  • so after both sides fire off 20 rounds they are forced to stop turn around and go hide somewhere to reload there second 20 rounds into carousel autoloaders...american tanks still have 40 rounds left to counter attack shooting them up! while they are retreating backwards then routing demoralized hot cramped crews!...wargame it out!

  • remember norman schwartzkopf was a student of erwin rommel but also ulysses s. grant...use indirect approach of liddel hart but meat grinder down on the enemys flank like grant!

  • so soviet chinese or iraqi must reload their carousel autoloader after only 20 rounds...thus must reload very very cramped tanks 3 times for every american m60 to reload its 60 rounds into litterally detroit cadillac ergonomic comfort and fred estare style!

  • so let's wargame the math (think like 2 gangs of feuding cowboys in a shoot-em-up movie) soviet warpact or iraqi tank company has 10 tanks with 20 rounds ready to fire equals firepower of 200. american armor company has 14 tanks...14 x60 rounds is firepower of 840...thus we can spew out 4 times more big bullets per unit frontage...now this math is vindicated in golan heights oct 1973 (same 105mm nato gun on centurion)

  • typo! correction spelled carousel...as in soviet carousel auto-loader system

  • comprehend that a tank battle can last 100 hours straight...logistics is the key...our girl m60 carried 60 rounds of ammo soviet and chinese types 20 rounds in carosel auto-loader system and then must reload from the other 20 rounds inside very very cramped tank into the carosel autoloader...so it a psycho firefight I can spew 60 rounds while comrade clownsperm gets only 20 ready to go!

  • I have also wargamed kuwait war 1991 using mbt-70 apollo instead of m-1a1 abrams...vs iraqi

  • to best analog the m60 tank study the following!...1973 arab-israeli war...1982 israeli syrian war in lebanon...iraq vs iran war 1980-1988 (shah of iran had #650 of them!)..kuwait war 1991 usmc used them to slaughter iraqi warsaw pact surplus and red chinese types...so there is plenty of combat history to study...

  • I confess I am guilty of creating wargame plans on how best to invade canada from wisconsin and upper michigan...on a hobby teaching level with other tank officers...

  • during coldwar as a wisconsin tank officer I conducted modern microarmor wargames using real highway maps...i ran many unofficial battles against canadian leopard-1a3...the m-60a3tts proved superior!

  • my darkest cold war secret to confess...as a tank officer in wisconsin using modern micro-armor and real highway maps wargamed many senarios vs canadian leopard-1a4...very nasty tank battles!...m-60a3tts was superior...these were unofficial lose cannon wargames vs. canada

  • now in future war between greece and turkey in thrace tank battle...both using german leopard family and m60 upgrades I promise you 50 percent of tanks will be destroyed on both sides...logistics is crucial..who can reload and refuel fastest in battle...

  • cold war nato vs warsaw pact m-60a3tts proven killer vs t-55 type-59 ..t-62 ..t-72...against russian t-64 and t-80 would be harder...(american tank officers deeply know that to expect about 33 percent to even 50 of your tanks to be knocked out...) with m-1a2 abrams family odds tilted in americas favor

  • yes! e.r.a. bricks are added to defend against atgm missiles and rpg anti-tank weapons!...tanks don't attack alone they use caution and combined arms!...infantry aircav attack helicopters and artillery help wipe out enemy anti-tank teams so tanks can duke it out!

  • when I was a tanker they nbc cs (tear) gas attacked my tank and we did everything nbc drill and it worked perfectly!...m-60a3tts was a beautiful girl I loved and cold war winner!

  • The maximum armour on the M60a1 'needlenose' is 250 mm at front of turret at that checkline , 225 mm at the frontal glacies, and ballisiticly shaped turret also increases protection from rpgs.

  • u no what would suck? if reciol was never discovered

  • Thank you from an old dinosaur tanker who served on the M60A1 and later the M1A1 and the M60 was an excelent tank

  • @texasdustfart I love the A3 I served in. Watching this video made some wondeful memories.

  • at fort knox ky I got to crawl all over the mbt-70 apollo...and the m-1 a1ha...i highly recommend it...

  • she was to be replaced by the mbt-70 apollo by 1972...also compare her only to other tanks of her cold war generation and her constant victories in the middle east and kuwait...

  • we have at least 3 on monuments in milwaukee area...i visit her often and each time I give her a great big kiss on the front glacis...i love her more than any female I ever had sex with or dated!

  • she won the cold war 1960-1997...so the girl is sweet 37...let her rust in peace now!...(still better than most russian crap)

  • prepare battle carry sabot...already loaded!...outdraws russian autoloader every time!...it also helps to have air superiority...and caffine!

  • I was a first lieutenant of armor...lets study its line of ancestors...m26 pershing..m46 patton1 m47 patton2...m48a5 patton3...m60...m60a1...also king tiger with porsche turret...mindblowing!/84th div usar milwaukee

  • I have to reach far back into my memory...105 mm Sabot rounds had a flat traj out to 1600 or 1800 meters (can't remember). You could set the range finder to 1800 and aim at the base of the target where the tracks of the target meet the ground. If the target was within 1800 meters (most were)..... then you hit it. A real fast way of shooting without screwing around with range selections on the ranging computer. I seem to remember that 105 mm HEAT had a battlesite range of 1100 meters.

  • To patrikasLTL's comment about Leopard 2 having faster firing rate than a M60:

Dont forget that the M60A3s fires with a smaller 105mm gun while the Leopard 2 fires with a larger 120mm gun. It would only make sense that a smaller ammunition is easier to load thus achieve faster firing rate than current tank rounds with a manual loader. Technology may improve over time but the manual labor is pretty much all the same.

  • Auto loader faster then manual human loading? Your kidding right? There is no auto loader in use today that can out load a human. I was a TC for the M60a3 and during my stint as loader I could load a HEAT round from the standing ready rack in 1.8 seconds. 3 rounds down range in 15 seconds. I also have loaded 120mm in an M1a2 and still could maintain a 4 second or better load time.

  • Your comment:

"M60 just.. CANT make 3 rounds hit in 15 seconds"

I beg to differ. I was a gunner on an M60a3 in Germany in the 1980's. I fired three sabot rounds at three seperate popup targets at around 1200 meters using the "battlesight" technique. We got off all three rounds with three hits within 12 seconds. I was told they heard our rounds and thought we had an autocannon. Damn good loader, he was very, very fast and efficient. You can load sabot faster than HEAT.

  • brings back some good memories

  • you have these earthen tanks, many left here you advertise them and sell them to various idiots.

  • wy dont they use m1 abrams

  • My Grandfather used to drive M48 and M60 A1's.

  • But...but...but... I use to work with those tanks. How did I get old so fast? ;)

  • I don't know which video you were watching, but no where in this video do they state that the M60 goes 60mph... Get you r facts straight before you start talking trash.

  • @geo8x6 M60 tank would go 30 MPH max on the floor in High. There are those who would shift to neutral down hill to see what they could get out of it. Actually the M60 weighed 56 tons.

  • @98gsoup I was talking about an M60A1, which would not go faster than 30 MPH. At least not the ones I drove.

    Bobby...

  • This tank better than t60! good mashine really

  • Bullshit.

  • In what year was this video?

  • *****

    Doc

  • the family tree of the m-60a3tts is briefly m-26 pershing (ww-2/korean war)...m-46 patton...m-47 patton...m-48a5 patton (105mm british upgun) m-60...m-60a1 (see king tiger porsche turret)...m-60a3tts...go one step at a time to comprehend exact evolution line!

  • 5-stars...m-1 abrams has english chobham-burlington armor (classified)...west german 120mm smoothbore gun ...with du-238 atomic waste silver bullets (restricted) night vision thermal optics...the m-1 abrams is the child of the mbt-70 /panzer-70 program!...only its night vision thermal optics related to m-60a3tts...its older brother is actually the west german leopard-2!...a whole different generation!

  • the MBT-70 was a joint venture between Germany and the U.S.

Needless to say both countries went their separate ways because of cost overruns and program problems.

  • 5 stars the m-60a3tts is still a very good tank vs soviet/russian/red chinese designs.... I also got on and inside the m-1 abrams at ...it is a light year beyond the m-60a3tts tanks!...crew protection is far greater...crew comfort the same...night vision same...speed much faster...upgunned to 120mm range better(both tanks fire du-238 silver bullet rounds-restricted info!) m-1 burns up a lot of gas... must refuel it often...rather heavy for some bridges!

  • tts means tank thermal sight...sees heat...looks exactly like the movie predator-1 with arnold schwarzenegger...(who owns his old austrian army m-47 patton tank!)

  • one of the 84th divisions milwaukee monument tanks is a 10 min. drive from my house...i visit it often...it is repainted solid olive drab green...i will film it for youtube....waves of cold war nostalgia!

  • m-60a3 produced 1978-1987 over 5000+ tanks produced...many sold or given to u.s. allies all over the world...also e.r.a. upgrades ...etc...very roomy tank and nice smooth ride...night vision sights superior!

  • wbhat u think of abrmas think its inmprment of the 60

  • patton family...m-46 /m-47/m-48/m-60...all offspring of m-26 pershing...roughly...king tiger panzer influence on m-60 a3 turret design!

  • us army and usmc all use m-1 abrams ...m-60a3 patton-4 sold overseas to free-china-taiwan!

  • I was a usar armor 1lt...m-60a3tts...84th div milwaukee...thankyou...thankyou...thankyou! 5stars and cold beers!

  • Are there any active M60s in the army or the marines?

  • non in the US except roles like AVLB's. Still being up-graded and used around the world for example M60T up-grade and Phoniex are new.

  • Turkish army have 1000 upgraded m60(called SABRA Mk3)

  • could never tell its m60

  • funk U.S.A vao si fude seus otarios

  • т 62 better

  • The M60 is superior than the T-62

  • M60 front armor of 120 mm, T-62 about 300 mm, 105mm gun of the M60 against the 115 mm smoothboregun of the T-62. M60 has no chances.

  • where the hell did u get that info?? 300m are u sure?
