@longanprod When I animated this, I wasnt thinking about that. Ive since gotten much better with animations like this, and Ive even thought about doing another fighter-based animation to show how far Ive progressed.
Looks nice, but some of the asteroids seem to accelarate or slow down mid animation @0:15 for instance. Did you set the the asteroids up as a particle emitter?
Explosion and path following need a little more work but I give you an a+ on the modeling. Also, you might want to experiment with trying to put in shields for the phasers to ram into in the begining.
@KJStokeman Thanks! The models aren't mine, save for the asteroids. And Im not really all that good at shields or explosions unfortunately, but hopefully I get there someday :)
@deltanalliance Id say its mostly because of all the asteroids that it took so long to render. My computer has an Intel Core 2 Quad processor at 2.33 GHZ and 4 GB of ram, running on Windows Vista.
@thedarkarcon4 Not bad, Chris's Q6600 could probably near that performance.
I probably render videos & animations twice as fast as you :P
Though of course, I do have the AMD 6-core 1055T overclocked to 4Ghz with 4GB of DDR3 RAM on Windows 7 x64 which does in fact run unbelievably fast >:D
@CJCA915 I used a standard video post lens effect glow filter with a yellow to orange gradient, then for the geometry i used Digimation's lightning plugin with 0 kinks and 2 segments with a speed of 1. The arc chaos and segment amplitude are set to X=0, Y=0, and Z=0. For the source and target, I used two omni lights for each "lightning bolt," and gave them both orange video post lens effect flares.
@thedarkarcon4 coolio, I just finally finished redoing Dennis Bailey's V2 Refit, that Mylex is using, he sent me the model in 3ds format, so I had to redo it myself, and it looks amazing, rendering should be up soon.
@CJCA915 Unfortunately, when I have the ray and star checked as renderable in the lens flare settings, they seem to crash 3ds mid-render, so be careful.
Don't the ships ever spin, rotate or anything. it kinda looks like just ordinary planes flying flat because of the gravity.

@sticky170 Thanks! Yeah, when I did the animation I believe I used PFlow for the asteroids.

Overall tho, nice work.

@thedarkarcon4 yup, as corny as it sounds, I was orgasmic when it's almost done, the beacon flares, and the stuff, it's just ugh. haha.
Got my new keyboard today as well, made an unboxing vid of that.
