  • One of my favorite parts was that piano solo.

All of it was WONDERFUL though, especially the handsome guy at the end :)

    Thank you!

  • Oh,you did spot that fella.

  • Of course I did. I was able to watch this to the end. And you're not an ugly old man.

Remember I met you so I know!

    :)

  • Ginny,I aged 5 years in 5 months.I'm turning gray,inside + out.

  • That piano solo was a tribute to Vincent Lopez

  • It was beautiful!

  • Thanks,Ginny

  • You should leave it. I think yours sounds different than mine. Yours is an earlier copy.

  • According to our expert(FredL)it's the same tune.Bluebird only made one take to hold the cost down.I'll upload the flip side "My Moonlight Madonna" a waltz later.

  • Did they have to put that hated song"Happy Days Are Here Again"in the middle of "On The Air"

  • I used to know three of the four tribute bits Rudy inserted in this wonderful arrangement. I can only remember two, The Vincent Lopez and the Ben Bernie (It's A Lonesome Old Town). I'm working on the other two.

  • @phredl No. 1 is The Perfect Song (Amos and Andy), No. 2 is Nola, No. 3 is It's A Lonesome Old Town, No. 5 is Happy Days Are Here Again. Not sure about No. 4: Rose Marie?

  • Fred, I LOVED that piano solo.

    boo hoo sniffle sniffle.

    HONK!~

  • That reminds me of the song"You've Got Me Crying Again"

  • Bob,has this on,so I'm going to delete it and move it to DailyMotion. That handsome guy is now an ugly old man.Where is E.Quogue, never heard of it.I used to haul Yaphank+Smithtown a lot.

  • Interesting, we both have the same label and song posted but the numbers are different. The recordings are even a little different. I wonder why they re-recorded it?

  • A actually Bob it's the exact recording as on the earlier Bluebird. Yours may sound different because a better quality shellac was used. The reverse sides are different also. #5097 is "My Moonlight Madonna" and #7467 is "Love is the sweetest thing" which was originally on #5175. Unless you only want originals the better sounding one would be #7467

  • Fred you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge. I hope to one day know as much about these great recordings as you. I prefer the later to the earlier. The music has a much brighter sound to me. Thanks

  • Pax,I checked Genia's list and didn't see this on.I never cared for this tune but figured someone would like it.Just now when I checked it,there was your version.I'll remove it and upload "My Moonlight Madonna",the flip side.

  • Moonlight Madonna???

  • My Moonlight Madonna, June 20-1933

  • Thank you for beaufull melodies and very good performance of Rudy. E.

  • Thanks, how are things in wonderful Poland?

  • Super great arrangement of the Carroll Gibbons signature song. My favorite Vallee Bluebird. The bits of songs that he plays are the theme songs of other band leaders that were "on the air".

  • This is your favorite Rudy Bluebird? I never liked it so I didn't upload it.I just dropped Rudy's"With Her Head Tucked Underneath Her Arm" It was A quick death into 100 pieces.

  • Yes it is! I've had a copy since the mid seventies. It has all the elements required to be a great song to dance to. Nice catchy tune, superior arrangement and perfect tempo and let's not forget Rudy's excellent vocal.
