  • Havery is ghetto down hood shit hood

  • this was once a vibrant hardworking middle class white community at one time, up until the 1970s when White Flight decimated it. we went back in 1990s and our old neighborhood from Ashland to Page to 155th was pure black ghetto. not a screen or storm door left on a house and all one-way streets clogged with junked cars. trash everywhere, SAD sad.

  • we got out in the White Flight when the blacks began the race riots along Page and Wood Sts... we lived on Paulina by 150th.

  • Thanks for posting these old movies showing how nice the Chicago area ONCE WAS.

  • What a vibrant city Harvey was. Thanks for posting. I was there.

  • WHAT DA FUCK HAPPEN TO HARVEY??

  • I lived at 15040 Broadway My old house is a empty lot. SAD!

  • Bet you kiddies of that generation went to Dixie Square Mall too...take a good look in the sidebar, and we can all take a good long look at what happened to that, for good example. I've never been to Harvey, I live near Illinois (in Iowa) but never been there and I wasn't alive in '72, but this is a sad reflection knowing how Harvey ended up :(.....

  • Now days Uncle Sam on a bike in Harvey would be riddled with bullets.

  • I accedently went through that CRAP neiborhood it had gangs EVERY windows was boarded up. IT WAS RUINED BY MEXICAN AND BLACK GANGSTERS.

  • Harvey is fucked thanks to the liberals who took over. Game over there. A small Detroit.

  • @CookCountyDissident Thank you for posting that. Liberals ruin everthing! Detroit is absolutely right. The truth is the truth, whether you like it or not. When Harvey, Chicago Heights, Dolton, Riverdale, and Blue Island were majority white (like all sububrs should be), it was much safer. All of the homes were in better shape and business wasn't just fucking blues clubs, chicken shacks, and other bullshit. I will never forgive the people that let this town and its people rot like a corpse.

  • I lived at 15305 Lexington from 1963 to 1971. Those 4th of July parades always made the holiday. Cool footage.

  • I lived less than a half a block from where this was filmed ,in 1972 on the corner on loomis and 154th the optimist club used to sell christmas trees in the good old days, but now harvey is a crime ridden hell hole.

  • Harvey is so far away from looking like this now!!! It could turn around with the right government...but they dont care about that place anymore.

  • Lol the right goverment... just get rid of the nigs and it would be fine.

  • get rid of the nigs?? you racist dickhead!! die of cancer, asshole.

  • It is sad that Harvey is not even close to looking like this anymore

  • My father was a firefighter in Harvey and i used to ride on the back of the ladder truck,i remember this parade,my brother just had gotten out of the army i was 10 years old then.the good old days! Thanks for the memories!

  • Would love to include some of this footage into the "Dixie Square" film. Please send me a message if your interested.

  • WTF?!?I can't believe this is Harvey

  • I was at this parade!
