  • This is one of the main reasons, if not the main reason I bought a windows phone 7, and there has been NO mention of ANY advancement on this whatsoever. No better demos of this, no blog updates, dates, betas, comment on whether it's still being implemented, nothing. It's almost like this was a fake idea showed but never published as an incredibly cheap, desperate plot to get people to buy a product, by lying to people about features and ignoring the features with no support for it. Typical M$...

  • Good job MS coming all the way to Dubai to advertise your cool XNA to Arab devs, while we still cant even publish to WM7 or 360 2 years later!

Believe me C# is one of the most used languages in Dubai and we do know what XNA is, just open these devices for us and we would gladly develop apps and games to our fellow Arabs before its too late!

Well it is actually too late at least to me, one of the very few pro Arab game developers

P.S. Yalla apps is a joke right? getting 50% only is not cool!

  • Eric Rudder Playing is very cool

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Eric Rudder is great.

  • Wow this guy is a well polished public speaker.... Wow that old guy can play a horrible game which he is horrible at....everywhere. Wouldn't expect anything else from MicroPenis.

  • If you bought the Zune HD, you have been screwed lol!

  • super :]

  • XNA is awesome! C++ R.I.P.

  • really even after gus talked about how annoying and stupid it is to post drunk tank on here

  • Drunk me probably couldn't handle a motion-controlled game, I'd probably

    tank my high score attempts.

  • Sorry Gus, but DRUNK TANK

  • @RocksTarhottie231 Nobody cares. Games before whores!

  • Some of you seem to be overjoyed at the prospect at being locked into proprietary software platforms from a single corporation on all your devices. Fools do love their chains.

  • This is already being promoted in the tech press as Microsoft showing off "cross platform gaming goodies". There is a problem here though in that while it is "cross platform" in terms of devices it is not truly cross platform in terms of operating systems, which is what "cross platform" usually denotes.

The media should be careful not to buy into Microsoft's definition of "cross platform" since when Microsoft uses such a term they use their own definition and not the one the rest of us use.

  • @Keruaran Makes perfect sense what you're saying. "Cross platform" should definitely include all operating systems, not just windows. Maybe they should come up with a new term "cross dysfunctional windows something...

  • because live video is delayed 15 seconds so if something goes wrong, the video feed can be cut.

  • That would make sense if it was that long before. However the BBC reported its collapse 23 minutes before and CNN reported it over an hour before.

  • hmmm... I agree, that is rather strange.

  • Indeed.

  • Again, what are you trying to say? and if you think that MGS4 has a shitty storyline you can skip all the scenes.

  • Or play god of war 3 or MGS4 or littlebigplanet or just cause 2

Not sure what your trying to say here

  • that game is also on the Zune HD

  • what phone is that

  • @Steeeve15 Its the new Windows Phone 7 Series phone

  • I think people are missing the real point of this here.

The philosophy is you never have to stop your game and come back later. Or that you have to play a different version on a different console. The idea is that you can resume the same game or app on a different platform.

Imagine Netflix or Windows Media Center with this functionality. If you're watching a movie on a PC, you can pause and move it to your TV. And if you need to get on the bus, or even a plane, you can resume it on your phone

  • I think you are missing the point.

The problem is if I am playing any popular console or PC game like Modern Warfare 2 I can't play it on my cellphone as it isn't powerful enough.

On the other hand if I am playing the mobile version of Call of Duty why would I want to play that on my HDTV? There is no cross over market here

Steam already does this allowing you to pick up play from any TV.

If you pause a movie you can just play it from that scene elsewhere BTW.

  • Either way you would still have to have both the game, the movie, or the piece of software on all 3 devices. I believe you are under the impression it will magically stream onto the other device or just appear there. It's pretty much the same thing as having a multi-platform game and being able to select your levels. I think it needs a lot more work in order to really be worthwhile. What he's saying is it auto-synchronizes to your last save point on X program. It could be useful in the future.

  • In the computing world "different platform" has almost always meant different operating systems rather than merely different hardware.

This is not about true cross platform functionality which is already available with non-Microsoft software. This is about Microsoft selling Windows and Windows related products and keeping you locked in to their software platforms.

  • This is mainly about gaming right? In the gaming world cross platform is not solely about the software. It is about the hardware. If you play a game on one set of hardware and do the same on a different piece of hardware you have indeed crossed platforms. That game is not interacted with the same on all hardware.

  • Obviously its not solely about software. The operating system stack that runs on more hardware platforms than any other is GNU/Linux. Microsoft is doing what they always do: Attempting to impose their own definition on commonly used terms in the computing world. Their definition of "cross platform" is not "Runs on Windows on a PC and runs on another OS on another hardware platform", their definition of cross platform is "Runs on Microsoft, runs on Microsoft, runs on Microsoft".

  • I ported this demo to the iPhone months ago using MonoTouch and XnaTouch ( on codeplex ). Same code running on PC, Xbox, ZuneHD, iPhone and it would seem Windows Mobile 7 has finally caught up :).

XnaTouch will be adding 3D API support as soon as its announced next week at the GDC.

  • this game is old. this game is on my zune hd. I guess only people with Zune HD know about this

  • omg!

    asone . ru

  • eh not really..on paper ps3 is better but when it comes down to development of games, 360 is better im not really getting into a war here...im just stating the facts...

  • @dkc4475 Even if that was true, who cares. Really.

  • actually exactly what i want

  • i think the new caption feature on youtube is hilerious. its so off.

  • why people get impressed on this?

  • the new world order is upon us..wake up people and get informed..check out my page for info

  • Bad presentation. "Uh, but uh"... "um..like"

  • oh yeah i hate that mummy guy 2

  • This is not really new. This game has been in the xna studio for the last couple of years. All this shows is that windows phone 7 = zune phone

  • The newness comes in the ability to continue a game across 3 platforms. No other company has something like this.

  • Three platforms? I only see "Microsoft platforms". At least one of which has about as much chance at success as the Zune.

  • And the game still has to be ported to Windows Phone. From there all you're doing is a user profile & saved games, nothing that others aren't already doing. I can play Quake Live through a browser on any half decent device that runs a browser. And someone who wants to create a game that truly runs on the most number of hardware platforms possible can already do so with Java or Qt for example.

What Microsoft is offering is far from true cross platform gaming. Its nothing but lock-in.

  • Congrats

  • Microsoft FTW

  • /watch?v=RutQcxAuTs

    para rir

  • this step is awesome, microsoft is finally taking things in the right direction! apple will fall between android and windows phone 7 series! Die apple die!

  • Comment removed

  • @itsbiju if by a long time you mean this fall, then you're right :P. That looks a lot like an XNA Game Studio demo. XNA Game Studio already exists for PC & Xbox and Zune. I assume that means we've just got to wait for Windows Phone 7 Series this fall :). I'm not sure about the cloud sync'ing of game state though.

  • What game can be played on those three platforms right now where you can pick up where you left off?

  • it is going to take a long time before we see cross platform gaming like that.

  • Indeed, but this is a good step in the right direction.
