Thanks for posting. :) I miss rock dassies. Used to see them all the time growing up in Natal. I always wanted to tame one of them, but of course, the buggers would run away the moment you moved. My family and I left SA a few years ago...I'd go back, just to sit and watch the dassies like I used to when I was a little girl.
South Africa's loved natural species. Stuff snakes and big game. Dassie, related to the elephant, not the rat as would appear, is loved by all real South Africans.

The dassies we saw on Table Mountain had no problem climbing onto people's laps to get their food! A bit unnerving!

Yea, I used to see rock dassies all the time too, when i lived there. Their awesome, very timid though.
