All the compositing was done in After Effects, but I think pretty much any compositing software would give you the basic tools that you would need.

I filmed my kids faces delivering the lines. Then it was just a question of masking out everything except their mouths and resizing to fit the lego faces. A bit of colour correcting, and feathering to the mask edges to blend them in. Job done.

The mouths turned out to be really easy. I was going to animate/lip sync but I just comped the actual footage of the 'voice actors' - masked out their mouths in Adobe After Effects, colour adjusted the skin to match the lego face colour, feathered the edges to blend any remaining hard edge and hey presto! Much easier, and looks better too! I checked out your vids - really good. Keep up the good work!
