  • I posted on Facebook about this commercial and a friend posted the link for this. THANKS SO MUCH for posting this video!

  • Oh man, Faygo sounds really nice, wish we had it here :c

  • I wAnT sOmE FaYgO nOw :o)

  • :33 < I need to get some of this.

  • :o)

  • Redpop (of course) and Frosh were my favorites. Remember Towne Club? Michigan's "bottle bill" killed that company. :(

  • And then ICP made this their religious drink...Faygo isn't quite as family friendly anymore

  • shangri-la faygo clip.nice

  • Faygo Remembers always seemed like a creepy line to me.

"We remember what you did >:3 better buy some Faygo, or we'll tell everyone"

  • Gamzee sent me :o)

    I REGRET NOTHING.

  • This terrifies me.

  • wHaT iS tHiS i DoNt EvEn???

  • that would be weird shit if one day you watched this video and you saw ICP in the background but you never noticed it before.

  • fAyGo iS JuSt mIrAcLeS BrO. :o) HoNk hOnK

  • A lifelong metro Detroiter, reminds me of being a kid in the 70s, Cool stuff!!

  • I grew up in MIchigan and Faygo pop is awesome !!! I know that "Moon Mist" is Faygo's equivalent to "Mountain Dew". "Sensation" = "Vernors". "Frosh" = "Fresca". "Dr. Faygo" = "Dr. Pepper". "60/40" = "Squirt". I no longer live in Michigan. I haven't sampled "Twist" yet. What does it taste like ? "7-Up" or "Squirt", perhaps?

  • I want to try this soda, solely for the purpose of seeing why Gamzee loves it so much.

  • The begining of juggalos.. :)

  • Thanks so much for posting! I'm tearing up over here :_( because I miss my home! Thanks for giving me a piece of it.

  • Like this if reading Homestuck and loving it and of course loving Gamzee brought you here~

  • I still have the 45 record!! My grandmother bought it for me when I was a kid.

  • Let me tell you about Homestuck . . .

  • Faygo does NOT remember. I had some Redpop at a party once when I was young and it tasted SO nasty.

... Then I bought some of the glass-bottle kind a week ago because I needed the old style bottlecaps for a project. And suddenly I get the appeal.

Maybe it really is true what they say about drinking pop with sugar from a glass bottle instead of high-fruictose corn syrup in a metal can. I'm going to have to look into this....

  • Doesn't the little girl towards the end look a lot like Drew Barrymore ??..i know it cant be, because I'M sure she wasn't born at the time!

  • that is one creepy laugh at the beginning

  • Heehee Gamzee. ^^

  • fAaAaAgOoOoO rEeMeEmBeEeErRsS

  • whoop whoop !!

  • HoNk ;o)

  • My mom reminisced when she saw this

  • I didn't live in the time of Faygo...I'm only here for Homestuck

    I feel guilty

  • @mikurulove10 They still make Faygo. I just had some.

  • Send your mom up to the store, tell that bitch to bring home a Faygo

  • @Gameathoner i love the faygo song!!

  • Bands likes Zeppelin, Floyd, Doors, Hendrix give you chills? Are you physically attracted to music? I AM!

But If you think this is good well...Introducing my channel. IT attempts to open your mind up to a whole new world of musical truth. Don't forget to CHECK it OUT & subscribe IF U LIKE IT! <3muchlove

  • One of the things remembered the most in the past was the Faygo boat song and I drank enough of it ...it was "healthy then" ? anyway, I knew many people shared in the memorys of that song. I can't think of his name but the fella singing it on the Boblo boat was a hit in himself. Something like Mr. Whipple remember ?

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Comment removed

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaahoooooooooooooooo

  • Send your momma up to the store tell that bitch to bring home a Faygo!

  • I always preferred the Faygo Moonshine, great memory and good times! Thanks a lot for posting this!

  • I love Faygo pop... I grew up in Detroit it is a part of our rich history.... Rockin Rye & Moon Mist :)

  • One of the best parts of my life was this song really got attached listening to it. Thank for posting it.

  • @limeliter When I first bought the VHS video from Faygo it was because I was compelled to. I HAD to see it again. I digitized it and posted it on YouTube, never imagining how much response it would get. I wanted to spread the joy of Faygo and of those Detroit summers in the 70's. So far, Faygo has not asked that the video be removed. I hope they don't. It's really wonderful to see the community that forms around the video/song. Thanks for writing!!

  • @curleyco I keep emailing them about the importance of this commercial tied in with their long, rich history in Detroit. The only response I've gotten so far is that they want to stay modern with their advertising. I tried to explain to them that the commercial will introduce a whole new era of customers, as well as reinvigorate their consumer base that has remained loyal through all of these years. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they reconsider it soon.

  • @dillapp21 Wow, what a great idea. A throwback commercial that perhaps melds into an updated one... ? I have a feeling a LOT of people would just love it!

  • fAyGo rEmEmBeRs :o)

  • HoNk :o)

  • old school juggalo

  • the fun we had in the 70's,,,boblo island, singing to commercials like this, i to

    miss my childhood

  • @abbsguy Oh how I agree. Those summer days in Detroit...(sigh)...there was nothing like it. I miss it too.

  • @abbsguy me to i am 43 and that was a big day to go the island. you should see what that boat looks like today it would make you sick. i did so want to take my son there its hard to explain how great it was. BOBBY

  • WHOOP WHOOP GOTTA LOVE DAT FAYGO

  • honk

    HONK

    honk

    :o)

  • Great stuff. @frednora- Try finding a life somewhere else.

  • This is horrible. No wonder Detroit is abandoned.

  • @frednora It takes a special sort of person, like you, to attempt to make something good and joyful into something negative. Most of the folks who post comments on this video are moved to do so because they have wonderful memories of Detroit and Faygo and this commercial. Perhaps you could take your darkness elsewhere.

  • @curleyco Oh come on it was just a joke... except for the part about the song... that did actually put me in a dark place (especially the cackling at the beginning, not even a Detroit fanatic can think that is at all flattering).

  • @curleyco Agreed. It's people like that who cause most of the deterioration and negativism towards good intentions.

  • @frednora Wow.. you suck. What exactly is your problem. This brings a smile to MANY faces as they remember their childhood. Get real.

  • @frednora Abandoned? Hmmm...All those people I saw fishing at the park today must have been figments of my imagination.

  • @mikoyan29 And all those pictures and reports of Detroit deteriorating at an accelerating rate must have been a figment of my imagination. It is a pity too, since Detroit 50 years ago seemed like it was a really neat place. It could have been a great city. Too bad its downfall has been so dramatic.

  • hahaha.! i heard my dad singing this in his terrible voice.! and i looked at him like wtf,??? and its now stuck in my head.!!!!

  • Is that a young Drew Barrymore at the end of the video?

  • Thanks for the memories of better times in detroit

  • whoop whoop mcl homies

  • HoNK

  • @HatchetxMurder11

    And Homestuck fans.

  • Comment removed

  • Whoop Whoop. MCL

  • HoNk HoNk :o)

  • The song is werd but I luv faygo WHOOP WHOOP!!!

  • Haha my family and I sing this when we have bonfires!

  • ...Climb in through the window?

    HONK.

    honk.

  • Honk. HONK. honk.

  • Damn, this is creepy. They might as well be chanting "JOIN US."

  • Sometimes the old ad campaigns are the best.. This is a great Summetime commercial. Even though Bob-Lo Island is not open anymore. Its still a good song. Catchy tune.

  • Totally forgot about Faygo! Fun hearing the song again after so many years. Does Faygo still exist? Moved overseas in '88 and haven't been back since '96. I remember "Towne Club", which I miss. No root beer where I live for many years. Sold here now, but still rare, expensive & only in cans. So happy when they started selling Dr. Pepper here. My kids love Dr. Pepper, but their friends think it's strange. My kids have never tasted root beer; have to splurge & let them try it! :)

  • @lynninpain They still sell Faygo AND Towne Club has re-emerged all over town.

  • mistermatt u r refering to a man named Frank Nelson , He was very big an the Jack Benny show before the others u mentioned , but lol thats not him in this Faygo commercial sorry lol but he is very similar

  • Honk. HONK. :o)

  • Little girl at 0:50 is drew Barrymore. Look at a photo of her from the movie "firestarter" and compare the faces.

  • @haibug16 Drew was not even born yet.

  • @charitablefabulosity Yes she was. She would have been right about 4 years old when this commercial was made.

  • @haibug16 Not firestarter NOT< NOT

  • Little girl at 0:59 is Drew Barrymore. Pause it at 59 seconds then go look at the photo of her from the movie "firestarter" and compare them.

  • HONK

  • Someone needs to make a flash video of this in correlation to Homestuck, like, now.

  • @arbitraryGamblignant Wat does "in correlation to Homestuck" mean?

  • @curleyco Homestuck is a webcomic. There is a character on there named Gamzee who absolutely loves Faygo.

  • @curleyco It's a webcomic.

  • @curleyco homestuck is a webcomic, and one of the characters is obsessed with faygo.

  • @arbitraryGamblignant

    /watch?v=Wh8JgiAXsAg&NR=1

  • @Ggirl18824 I already knew about that one, I meant the whole song, not the last eight seconds.

  • @arbitraryGamblignant How has it not been done yet...

I might have to do one if no one does...

  • @arbitraryGamblignant ohhmyggoooddd yesssss

    actually, someone did. XD

  • @swordsmanProtoganist yeah but I meant the WHOLE thing not just the last three seconds or whatever :P

  • @arbitraryGamblignant i'm on it

  • @arbitraryGamblignant watch?v=Wh8JgiAXsAg&feature=related

    Already done.

  • @Sarkavonsy I meant the WHOLE thing. And plus now that has been done because of my comment :D

    Here: watch?v=RYCXYsBnLuE&list=FLgvjGE3IWEVdF9rjLcjNMjw&index=47

  • @arbitraryGamblignant Oh my gog that is awesome.

  • @Sarkavonsy I KNOW MAN I KNOW

  • I toured the Faygo plant with school in 1976. At the end of the tour, we each got one can of pop (our choice) and a 45-RPM record with this jingle on one side and the a full-length folk guitar version of the song as it was before "that's why we remember" was replaced with "....make Faygo". I chose a new can of red pop, so I could compare the color of red #40 with the red #2 in a can I had bought earlier.

  • Juggalos,, if you love faygo so much, why change the way things are. Will the faygo taste better if they start showing their appreciation to you in advertisements??They don't give anyone else special attention in their ads so don't feel so left out.

  • @HatchetxMurder11 WOOP WOOP on that ninja!

  • THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS, CURLY!! YOU MADE MY DAY!!

  • the guy at the beginning of the ad was an old comic actor who was on sanford and son and the jeffersons, etc during the 70's and would always play a sarcastic butler/store clerk, etc and would always start by turning around and saying, "YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS????" WHO THE HECK WAS HE??? PLEASE HELP!!

  • @mistermattmoose He was Harold Peary. His famous character was The Great Gildersleeve.

  • @mistermattmoose Harold (Hal) Peary (July 25, 1908 – March 30, 1985) was an American actor, comedian and singer in radio, film, television and animation remembered best as Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, a supporting character on radio's Fibber McGee & Molly that moved to its own radio hit, The Great Gildersleeve, the first known spinoff hit in American broadcasting history. It's on Wikipedia.

  • @mistermattmoose The guy at the beginning, Harold Peary I assume, is often confused with the ""YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS????" guy, who was Frank Nelson. He played various characters on the Jack Benny program, usually a store clerk. Harold Peary, with the distinctive laugh played the character "The Great Gildersleeve" on radio although he was replaced with another actor towards the end of the series.

If you like these characters, check out old time radio. I love the Jack Benny program

  • @HatchetxMurder11 i seriously doubt it.

  • I was drinking Faygo way before I.C.P.

  • yeah.............the ''old school'' ways and means of old Detroit.....and how it was before the advent of the ''decline''.....so sad, so screwed''..but i still got the memories....''no one'' can take that away

  • Ice Tea can use eminem as a sales man for their company but faygo can't use ICP? Wha?

  • One of the great pop commercials...and I

I drank faygo also...I'll never forget the song and the Boblo boat.

  • WHOOP WHOOP! MMFWCL!! I love Faygo. Got a fridge full of faygo.

  • Woop woop!

  • @HatchetxMurder11 I tend to agree with you. The statement "we are a family company" is loaded with all sorts of negative judgments...and I agree that it's a little disingenuous for that company to not acknowledge the financial support they get from Juggalos. If they were smart they would hire a young, hip PR person to act as the younger, more energetic face of Faygo to serve that part of the Faygo customer base.

  • This is what faygo said about the clowns y'all:Faygo is a family company and we cannot align with a group that uses such foul language in their music. That is why they do not support ICP

  • @lilbesreker Good for them.

  • @HatchetxMurder11 You may be right about that. What could Faygo do to show it's appreciation? Have they been bad about that in the past?

  • @recordjunkie1968 I have that 45 too. Also the sheet music!!

  • this song is on my ipod

  • Oh my god!!!! do i ever remember this!! i use to live in winsdor ontario near Detroit!!

and i still remember every word to this song

  • @dreadnaught2 Better made chips are the bomb still. Faygo redpop and a bag of Better made chips. Who needs a napkin, wipe your hands on your shirt. Miss the 70's and I miss my childhood.

  • @michigan21 Sigh..............I agree, would go back in a heartbeat if i could...

  • @michigan21 I miss that so much!! I moved to New York and it is not here. When I visit home I have I have to stock up

  • @michigan21 Food of the gods, indeed, but I preferred Rock and Rye!

  • @bigkkm my big thing was rock and rye and villia ice cream wow that was livein

  • Isn't that Tennessee Ernie Ford leading the charges in this commercial?

  • @Maxwell1901... it's Harold Perry, he played the Great Gildersleeve on radio back in the 40's N 50's

  • believe it or not...........i was the banjo player

  • so...... this was the gathering in the 70s.

  • My dad started Singing this. We couldnt het enough of the guy laughing in the first 3 seconds!

  • I was @ Boblo when they made this Tommy from mt.clemens michigan

  • The Juggalos where much tamer back in the day... *nods* Must have been before they learned about cake makeup. XD

  • I want to go for a ride on the Faygo boat...

  • Omigosh! Man...do I remember this one! Out of the blue, the other day I started singing this one. My 13 year old daughter looked at me like I'd gone mad. This brings back sooooo many great memories of going to Bob Lo and drinking...you guessed it Red Pop.

  • Nothing like a cold bottle of Rock & Rye to wash down your Better Made Barbeque chips while listening to the Tiger game on the radio! God, I miss those summers in Detroit...

  • @venusdetroit I couldn't agree more. Rock & Rye will always be one of my favorites

  • @venusdetroit I agree you with you about the Rock & Rye and the Tigers game, but I prefer Better Made Red Hot chips. I miss home.

  • ain't nothing better than a cold ass moon mist and a blunt

  • Detroit's the best!

  • AND THATS WHY WE MAKE FAYGO!!!!

  • He was from radio the great glidersleeve. Which started on Fibber McGee and Molly.

  • You can hear this at the end of "Cotton Candy and Popsicles" by ICP.

  • Ahhhhh memories-smile. Does anyone have the "when was the last time you had a good slug of a Red Pop (Red Pop)" commercial? Sure would love to see that again too......

  • Red pop, Moon Mist, Rock & Rye, Fruit Punch, cheap as hell.....you just really can't beat Faygo

  • Oh the memories....to those of you Detroit friends who grew up in the 70's

  • ...and then icp happend

  • scary cool!

  • Excellent. I still have a 45 of this song they were giving away as a promotion way back when.

  • The fellow leading everything as I recall played a "bartender" in earlier commercials dispensing Faygo. I'd like to see those if they ever become available.

  • Ah, memories. How I miss those wonderful boat trips to Boblo Island!

  • Whoop whoop mmcl!!!! JRB

  • MMFCL!!!!!!!!! this is at the end of a song on the wraith. WHOOP WHOOP NINJASSSS

  • lmao too funny that I found this

  • I can't get over that laugh in the beginning ROTFL xD xD

  • @dragoniod13 read post below you.

  • Comment removed

  • It's been ages since I've lived in SE Michigan. is that one of the Boblo' (Bois Blanc) boats?

  • Always played on Channel 4 and 7

    Faygo Orange is Awesome

  • No. That is not a Boblo boat. The Boblo boats Columbia and Ste. Clair were much larger. This is some other excursion boat. There were lots of them years ago. Those were dear old days.

  • @dallaskeffer Actually, it was one of the fleet of River Boats (Ferry) used on the Detroit-Windsor river runs. They retired that run in the mid to late 1960's, before the commercial was filmed.

  • Ah, Boblo Island!

  • Boblo boat! Very cool! I am old!!!

  • Not Boblo. Some other smaller excursion boat, a little more modern.

  • Still trying to find Black Raspberry Faygo again got for a while at a gas station here in Columbus in glass bottles never seen it in plastic. Faygo is the best out of glass!!

  • i wasnt around for the 70s or 80s sadly but i was around for the 90s. and i was introduced to faygo by the 90s rap group insane clown posse. who have made faygo skyrocket by their music. i love their music and this great soda brand. yay faygo, and yay for the wicked clowns

  • i wasnt around for the 70s or 80s sadly but i was around for the 90s. and i was introduced to faygo by the 90s rap group insane clown posse. who have made faygo skyrocket by their music. i love their music and this great soda brand. yay faygo, and yay for the wicked clowns

  • @fleshhammer5

Yeah kid. I left Detroit in the very early 80's and I've been everywhere since. I was living on the west coast a few years back when I saw the grocery store selling FAGO! The clerk said that it was because of your band "ICP". One of these days I think I'll find out how they sound.

  • @Jupiter98111 enless you like sample music with 40 year old dudes dressed as clowns rapping about cotton candy and killing poeple dont bother

  • i wasnt around for the 70s or 80s sadly but i was around for the 90s. and i was introduced to faygo by the 90s rap group insane clown posse. who have made faygo skyrocket by their music. i love their music and this great soda brand. yay faygo, and yay for the wicked clowns

  • mmmm delicious faygo got to love it. my fav has to b Strawberry kiwi but that will change as soon as i can find me Blueberry faygo

  • Whoop whoop!

  • You know I loved Faygo, but do you remember the real Vernor's. I remember the original plant on Woodward ave (?) In Detroit, but they closed it down in the late 70's.

Real oak wood taste, Pepsi bought them out and ruined it though.

  • Best..Commercial...Ever..

  • FAYGO!!!(: LOL

  • PONY RIDES WHERE!
