It's really smart to spend billions of dollars on weapons of mass death and destruction, instead of spending it on trivial things like hunger or poverty. Even peaceful space exploration (which is typically tied to war development) is a better way to spend the money. At least theres a return on your investment. What do we get here? A destoyed atoll, an irradiated ocean, a damaged atmosphere, and a happy military success. WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?
