For all the stupid people. She's still an Arab. She was born in a muslim arabic speaking country. Just because Algeria isn't necessarily in the middle-east and lies on the African continent(Just as Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania and Libya) It's still considered to be an Arab country.... Thank you stupid people. Just for making me lose what litte faith I had in you. You obviously don't check out facts. Nor do you bother reading and investigating things.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION: Oh storyteller tell us a story Make it a tale Tell me about the people of old Tell me about 1001 Nights And about Lunja daughter of the Ghoul And about the son of the Sultan I'm about to tell a story We'll be far from this world I'm about to tell a story Everyone of us has a story in his heart Narrate and forget we're adults In your mind we're young Tell us about heaven and hell About the bird that never flew in his life
@alkhouzama She also sings very well in French. Overall, she moves between cultures with considerable grace, being deeply rooted in Tamazigh and broader Algerian/Maghrebi culture, yet fully Westernized, as when she sings with French balladeer Marc Lavoine. Some of her music takes its form from Arabic styles, some from French. She is always lovely and graceful, and a perfect ambassador of one culture to the other. The fanatics who hate her should be ashamed of themselves and the harm they do.
I really hate when berbers say it doesn't matter to be arab or berber, well i certainely wouldn't like to be mixed up with an arab.. i'm a berber and i will always remain a berber.
@dmouter1 berber is the name romans decided to call us!! meaning barbars!! we are all tribes! there are the imazighen the mzab the chawi ... and so on!! it breaks my heart to see people not understand that we are all different tribes united in one country!! very few of are are 100% arab but that doesnt matter! what matters is that we re all Algerians!!! we are all Algerians and a difference in a tribe shouldnt make us hate each other!!! learn your history first! peace!

One of the most Underestimated arabian Musicians , very talented .
Arabs probably didn't make big of her because of her Zeppelin , Beatles and CCR influences , and because of her western image and her political lyrics , and probably because she's a woman .

Souad Massi, is an arab singer figure with a great voice , with the quality westren style, and that whats makes her amazing, this song is one of my fav songs
@Tamerwn sorry, she is NOT Arab, She is Amazigh (Berber), she is just Muslim, we Berbers , we speak Arabic fluently and better than Arabs. We must make difference between Identity and religion ?????
she 's one of few talented people in algeria , she lived in algeria in the 90th and left in99 so she lived the dark periode that algeria went throught over the past ten years and i guess that the whole night mere was a source of inspiration for her , now she know all over the the world by her legendary songs such as ; raoui , yemma , bye bye my love and so many other songs however in her mother land the fucking system ignore the rue algerian stars and put them under contempte........amine

yeah thats true the song is very touching even if you dont understand the words, the tune resembles that old song hotel california,or maybe im imagining.
for my part i get the words and i can tell u they r so simple and beautiful .She's speaking about a story teller and that's what takes you back in sweet childhood's imagination
part 2 narrate and forget we're adults In your mind we're young tell us about heaven and hell about the bird that never flew in his life make us understand the meaning of the life oh storyteller tell it just as they told you don't add anything, don't leave anything out We could see into your mind narrate to make us forget this time leave us at once upon a time.
Tell me, O storyteller Tell a story, she is a legend Tell us the people of yesteryear From Loundja*, the daughter of the ogress and the son of Sultan Begins with "once upon a time" Offer us dream
Begins with "once upon a time" Each of us has a story to his heart
Tell me, forget that we are great As if we were children We trust all stories Tell us of heaven and hell The bird that never flew Give us the meaning of life

no anadas nada, no omitas nada
podiamos ver en su mente
narra para ayudarnos olvidarnose este momento
y dejamos en "habia un a vez"

Part 1
tell, storyteller,
tell a story! May it be a legend!
tell us of the people of yesterday;
Of Loundja, the daughter of the Ogress and the son of the sultan.
start with once upon a time,
offer us dreams and take us as far as the earth go back in time
Start with Once upon a time
We all have a story in the depths of our heart.

Tell us, as we told you
Without added, without removing Take care, we have a memory
Tell us, do we forget our reality Abandons us in this "once upon a time".
