this is obvious that a murder was made to look like a suicide. i don't know what were the investigative rules back in 1989 when the film was made, but i sure know that there must have been some kind of an investigation that would have led to Gene because of his fingerprints that he forgot to wipe off. but the film is not about that, so the script writer thought, well, lets show this killer to be extremely lucky and genius at the same time.
I understand him wiping down the typewriter to get rid of his fingerprints, but wouldnt it be suspicious to the detectives if they were to dust it & find no fingerprints? Maddy's would have to be there if she typed the letter herself.
Caroline Williams is not only pretty, but SO nice! She sang happy birthday to my friend's dad at Fangoria in L.A. a few months ago and he was thrilled. If anyone gets the chance to meet her at a con, do so. She's so sweet. :)
I think Matty's character was originally supposed to be gay, but most signs of this were probably masked under the demands of the studio. That's just the vibe I got from her character. Perhaps,. when seeing her Carol's face just before she died, she might' have regretted not telling Carol her true feelings.
