Ed wasn't really being the b*****d in this scene at all. And he was actually right to keep Roger away from Christina because Christina is now officially Ed's daughter.
It's probably his wedding ring with Peggy. They may have still been technically married at this time, though she left him the year before when he confessed he had fathered Holly's baby. Check out classicgl's clip, "Roger/Peggy 'sorry'" on this site.
Roger & Holly didn't get married until a year or two after this clip. Ed & Holly's quarrels led to a divorce. And Roger & Holly got together for Christina's sake... but it didn't work out too well. : )
It was about a year and half after this (July 1977 -- again the original 2nd birthday for Chrissy/Blake -- again, later revised vs. January 1979 for Roger & Holly's marriage).
Actually Peggy took Roger back and they got back together. This clip (from July 1977, Chrissy/Blake's original 2nd year birthdate - later revised) is after two other events that underminded their marriage: Some loan sharks that Jerry McFerrin (Ben's younger brother) borrowed money from to keep Roger's club, "The Metro" afloat beat up Roger, and when Roger testified in Rita's trial for murdering Cyrus Granger about their one-night stand.
Does anyone have video of the first Holly, Lynn Deerfield?

it may be hard to believe to some but Roger actually was sympathetic in this scene...at least to me he was.

This is when Daytime Drama's were at there finest. I like the guy who played Ed Bauer at the time.

That's Mart Hulswit, who also played JB King Esquire in "Shining Time Station"!

I wonder if Roger and Ed would have been fighting over Blake like this had they know what a mess she'd turn out to be. LOL!

Is the ring on Roger's finger his wedding ring with Holly?

What happened to Ben's brother? I wish we could see clips of Roger at the club...I think he even sang and played guitar.
