  • Is that Curt Kirkwood singing a duet with D.Boon on Lost?

  • @808pb Dunno man, I think he managed to get pretty damn specific for 90 second long songs.

  • I have an original playlist of the minutemen when they opened for black flag.

  • this is what FUN is!!!

  • 9:25 i guess the audience member is doing the vocal about MIKE WATT who I have met!!!

  • Most legit band of all time

  • OMG!!! Blasfemy!! youtube ust played an ad for a bank before this minutemen vid.. damned!

  • It really gives me agony to see how the bands are Punk and Hard Core today! Minutemen is exmplo of genius, both by letter and acidic politicized as for his sense of humor! AVE Minutemen!

  • Realmente me dá agonia ver como estão as bandas Punk e Hard Core atualmente!

Minutemen é exmplo de genialidade, tanto pelas letra ácidas e politizadas como pelo seu senso de humor!

    AVE MINUTEMEN!

  • Wicked!!

  • mike watt rules

  • Man, I would crap/piss my pants if I could see a show like that. D. Boon's politics were sort of dogmatic/rhetoric-based though. Don't get me wrong, he's right for the most part, bust just too generalizing. What an incredible band. Must've been pretty incredible for those who were there and pushing back against the bullshit our nation pulled in the '80s,

Love how the security just tosses the kid back in the crowd instead of kicking his ass and or detaining him.

  • Have to watch a commercial every three minutes -- worse than American Idol.

  • d.boon you have no idea how much you have influenced my guitar playing

  • rip dboon

  • i'm referring specifically to Corona in saying that

  • well, in part, but it's that nostalgic feeling in the song

  • Comment removed

  • ohh, I feel happy and sad at the same time!

  • @shintedtades lemme guess, because the music is fucking awesome, and d. boon died?

  • george hurley.. the buddy rich of punk.. awesome. RIP D.

  • JACKASS SONG??

  • So, was "Lost" a Meat Puppets or Minutemen song?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm 14. I wished I'd been born in a different generation.

    Mine sucks.

    This shit fucking rocks

  • "THEY OWN THE LAND, WE WORK THE LAND. WE FIGHT THEIR WARS, THEY THINK WE'RE WHORES. ITS WHO THEY ARE, ITS WHAT THEY ARE< ITS WHAT I HATE! IT's WHAT I FEEL, ITS WHAT I SEE, ITS WHAT I TASTE!"

    genius visionary D.!!

  • D Boon truly a god among men

  • @livershot God of men ;) my saviore, lol

  • we don't need no steeenkin badges..... god bless daniel...

  • LOVE THE MINUTEMEN ohhhhhh yessir.

    thanks for sharing BlankTV!

  • hey look girls in the front row! One of the benefits of doing music that isn't pure hardcore I guess. You get to have cute girls digging you up close instead of them getting forced out under threat of getting knocked the fuck out lol

  • so love d. boon ..

    mike watt, best bassist ever.......!

  • this is absolutely amazing!! thanks for uploading, i mean it, youtube would be completely sh!t without quality uploads like this one

  • these guys are great, ever since i heard "tension" i fell in love with their music.

  • All must bow down to the almighty MINUTEMEN!!!!

  • the cheerleaders is such an awesome song, a real crowd pleaser

  • lovely

  • saw them in St. Louis and they fuckin rocked! my bandleader got freaked and left. where's his courage?

  • the road is a devil why we stare at the sea d boon surf long lost boy we need you mindmelt spock moonman

  • Thanks for this post! great!

  • My favorite band since i discovered "double Nickels..." almost twenty years ago.... in my mind truly before there time!!

  • for me minutemen this number one

  • if u listen to the lyrics of minutemn with open mind and abit of knowledge of recent history and reality then....

was d.boon's passing in a so unfortunate carcrash.. an accident? with so much to say.. and on the verge of breaktrough after touring with rem.. meltzer?

  • If he died of some freak accident you might have something to work with, but car crashes are so ridiculously common. And back then nobody wore seat belts. Something like 40,000 people per year die of car wrecks today, when most people now do wear seat belts.

I'd like to believe Boon died for something more than just bad luck, but there is nothing to support the assertion.

  • maaaaan fuck them badges! who needs em

  • d. Boon was remarkably agile for a dude his size.

  • d boone fat. i love it

  • red hot chili peppers teachers,

    sorry hillel slovak from israel

  • fuck yea.

  • Mike Watt rules!

  • Watch close at 9:33 someone in a blue tank top runs across the stage and grabs the mike in front of Mike Watt. I think it is Curt Kirkwood from The Meat Puppets, you can hear him singing along from the edge of the stage then he yells Minutemen Rule!! during the guitar solo.

  • I totally loved it. the minutemen rule!

  • Who is this

  • The Minutemen, silly

  • 4 months after that Boon died!

    R.I.P BOON

  • Wow... I would LOVE to get a copy of this concert on dvd!

  • i can't believe this was posted....thank you so much blanktv! im 16 so i was never alive to see these guys play, but man! this is one of the best bands ever...and i cant rest until they get the recognition they should!

  • In my opinion one of the best bands ever to come out of any scene any genre anywhere any time. Real honest music with groove, feel, and meaning. No bullshit here.

  • we were fucking corndogs

  • rightbrigade: Meat Puppets wrote Lost but the Minutemen do a hell of a cover of it here!

  • Holy shit there is footage of these guys on here NICE!

  • around 11:00. d boon is in the crowd, he's going mental, and security throw some kid off stage, and boon stops playing to say "hey, man".

  • por dios que temazo!

  • thanks so much for posting SICK!

  • I find it interesting to think about how much we lose and how much we gain by only having rough recordings of awesome bands like The Minutemen. Production can make things pretty and nice, but you lose so much when everything is cleaned up.

  • do unto others though

  • congratulations. today this video was selected by the NYC Punk Rock Evolution Foundation.

  • Did the Meat Puppets write 'Lost' or the Minutemen?

  • don't be silly. sst arizona, this time not pedro. talk about unappreciated

  • that drummer is amazing!he somehhow throws in all kind of wacky jazz fills and shit.brilliant.tight as fuck.

  • George Elliot is tight as fuck. IMO he's what made Minutemen's sound so different from the other "punk" bands of the time.

  • you mean George Hurley

  • BEST. BAND. EVER!!!!

  • Pretty sure Fish & Roses covered Badges, though their version sounds completely different musically

  • Yes, Fish & Roses did cover Badges (a mighty fine interpretation as well)......

  • It doesn't look like D. Boon missed too many meals....hell, everyone outta go out and buy a tele - pronto!!!!!!!

  • Cheerleaders has to be one of the most powerful and direct songs from the Minutemen. Amazing.

  • Best dancing ever!

  • d. boon was a very under-rated guitarist.

  • jackass kinda ruined corona, but i will always love it

  • at least a generation learned what good music was

  • a new generation learned who the Minutemen where.... I was rocking Double Nickels in my car and my girlfriend perked up and said is that the Jackass song!! LOL!!

  • Mike Watt is a beast on the bass.

  • Best Punk Rock bassist EVER!

  • do you have to see the body bags come off the plane just a little bit just a little bit just a little bit too late can you hear them call your name? can you count the lives they will take? do you have to see the body bags before you make a stand? can you hear them just a little bit just a little bit too late
  • when you hear them and call your name can you count the lives they will take? do you have to see the body bags before you make a stand? the cheerleaders call our their names on the sidelines they can feel the players sweat and i wonder what it is they see? all the rallies will never set them free can you hear them call your name? can you count the lives they will take?
  • we'll talk some reason we could look at the past will the nation grow? prosperity may last can we look at the problems ahead? with our heads in the sand we might as well be dead cheer him on the leader of the team he'll push on through at all cost to win but are we free to think for ourselves or doomed to repeat our mistakes?
  • 'Cherleaders' is sick as fuck. Anybody have those chords? Whoever puts up Minutemen tabs/chords will be classified a hero forever. Shit, is that Cris Kirkwood? What a bill, Meat Pups and Minutemen. I'd die for a gig like this.

  • Em9- A- G-C-A-D-Em9

  • Thanks a lot man! I really appreciate that.

  • I'm glad you checked back and found it! Long live the 'Pedro corndogs!

  • Another thing: some people comment on his looks, mainly his weight, just like I did, but he was like a flipping ballet dancer up there. (I'd give anything to dance like that! I'd have a new girlfriend every night!) And he didn't miss a step or a note! He was obviously in some kind of ZONE when he was up there. I feel sorry for people who don't feel this band. And it wasn't just him, it was the whole flipping band! Just incredible! (BTW, my previous comment was a reply to rborollajir).

  • DAMN straight D Boon could dance. and he'd dance in italian leather shoes that his feet were bulging out of. Oh shit that's an awesome MEat Puppets cover they're doing

  • Watt Rocks...hell the whole band rocks!

  • fucking awesome

  • This is too good. It hurts! Absolutely incredible band!! Pure emotion and honesty. The best of rock'n'roll. Should be a Hall Of Fame for true rock legends not that absolute Corporcrap Jann Wenner spews out!

  • Long Live D Boon!!!!

  • they were so fucking ahead of their time it is mind boggling. 99.9% of the human race can't even comprehend how deep this shit is - twenty + years later.

  • Amen brother, or sister, or whatever you are. However, let me add that anyone who gets this shit has to check out Captain Beefheart's stuff, specifically Trout Mask and Lick My Decals Off. There is no doubt the Minutemen knew the Captain's work intimately, esp the jangly guitar parts. It's a shame about how D Boon died: obviously overweight, so seatbelts were uncomfortable, so that's why he freakin' died. SHIT! Same thing happened to Sam Kinison a few years later. Such a shame for all concerned.

  • IIRC he was laying down on the seat because he had a bad fever.

  • Are you high? I like Beefheart and Trout Mask Replica is incredible. IT"S ONE FUCKING TAKE. but the Minutemen were much better musicians and wrote more melodic songs than avant-garde.

  • @rborollajr and they still scare the ROTHCHILDS!!!!!!!!

  • Never rip on Boon

  • music was so better on those time...

  • the funkiest punk you will ever hear along with the Big Boys. The Minutemen never dissappoint!

  • corona's my fav

  • be nice if the singer could stay in tune.

  • not that i mind all the footage of Boon, it just would be nice to be able to see more of Watt and Hurley.

  • tears in my eyes. d boon was so great

  • this was just a few months before he died then... hey d it's gigi from pedro

  • great honest rip D.Boon and thankyou

  • I fucking went to heaven and God told me I am worthy. Am I really? I love this stuff beyond my own existence.

  • amazing

  • D Boon = Great intelligent song writer, man of principle ...... a great loss.

  • Dinamita!!!!

  • Attention Mike Watt had his and the Stooges gear stolen in Canada a few weeks back keep your eyes peeled

  • watt n boone.... legends r.i.p boone

  • The Minutemen eran lo mejor que tenían, norteños primermundistas.

  • man im always breaking g-strings. you should try a thicker gauge

  • OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE.

GOD, I fuckin love this band.

  • one of the best bands of ALL TIME.

  • i wish this was one of the popular bands for puns to listen to

  • BIG BIG music! GREAT voice! Blessed 2 know this band. It cures me.

  • The old indie scene will be missed. :( The Minutemen, Husker Du, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Sonic Youth. . . so many more, so little time to listen to what I wish I had grown up into.

I advise trying to find a book called "Our Band Could Be Your Life", it's a collection of biographies(I suppose) of some of the bands I listed and really helps understand and appreciate this era in music. Fuck being a rockstar, punk rock roots for life.

  • my brother got that book for me for my birthday. it's highly recommended. i don't even listen to half of the bands in that book, and it's still a great read.

  • Ain't no words for so much greatness!

  • bpitaca and rx2411 are the same guy. Me, that is.

  • The band I played in was called 'honest injun'. I remember the Minutemen doing 'Jesus and Tequila' during sound check and man - they were SO good. George Hurley had a golf club bag that he carried his drum hardware in and I thank him for the idea and inspiration because to this day I still use a golf bag to carry my cymbal stands etc.

  • what band are you in now

  • I used to play drums in a band back in the day and we had the good fortune to be able to open for these guys in Mtl Canada on their "Campaign Trail 1984" tour. To hear "Corona" or "History lesson part II" brings me to tears every time. Truly one of a kind - soulful and affecting music from the heart.

  • What was your band called

  • maybe the last great original band.

  • for a big guy he can move

  • Watching D. Boon always makes me cry. For Life. For Love. For Soul.

  • Well said. I feel exactly the same way.

I saw "We Jam Econo" at its opening night in NYC some years ago, at the Walter Reade at Lincoln Center. Afterward, the filmmakers talked about making the movie -- they so had the spirit. And I went up and told them this: "Thanks for makin' this movie, because when I'm in the presence of boon and watt and hurley... I remember who I am. Simple as that."

  • punk rock changed our lives

  • Thanks a lot for posting :D

  • simply amazing!

Look at d. boon hoppin around there fuckin amazing band

  • I saw em at LA street scene w/circle jerks!!Biggest riot ever..they stopped the streetscene the yr after!D boon died 2 months after the show!D Boon didnt have t sing good he was GREAT!

  • he was certainly a better guitar player than singer.

  • They must just give you Nobel prizes like candy.

  • Saw them live many times - I turned 50 in Oct. This is the only version of their great anti-war song The Cheerleader I could find online.

And I can't find any recording of The Product.

    WTF??

  • Today (April 1st) would've been D. Boon's 50th birthday. Born on April Fools Day 1958. No joke.

  • D.Boon died in a van crash, just in case you were assuming that's how he died dw.

  • That's why Watt calls him the Man in the Van idiot.

  • Who's the idiot, me or the guy who thought it was drugs? I was just informing him of the fact.

  • These guys are phenomenal! Check out the doc 'We

Jam Econo'. SST really was an awesome collective

of influential and creatively fertile bands that

comes along every once in a great while. RIP D. Boon.

  • The Minutemen are one of those bands that only seem to last for a moment but will be with you for a lifetime. R.I.P D. Boon

  • That was fucking Rad.

  • jackass didn't steal it, they used it for the theme song of the show, giving full credit to who wrote it (paying them royalties too i suspect), use your heads ffs

and yeah jackass is funny in a demented sort of wow i can't believe anyone would do that sort of way, and yes The Minutemen is one of those bands that influenced a generation of musicians, even if they didnt really have a huge commercial smash single (arguably besides corona as the jackass theme song)

  • van crashed

  • drug overdose

  • a very untimely and misfortunate car crash, i beleive.

  • I saw mike watt 3 times in fl. wish I saw the Minutemen.Punk with A capital P.One of the best bands ever. Are they punk mr.Iggy Popp.

  • It's December 22...a moment of silence....

  • this is not the jackass song, it is the minutemen song. jackass stole it.jackass is sick but the minutemen are a lot better

  • Wow, the singer is alot bigger than I expected! Great band though.

  • Thanks for posting this fantastic, stupendous clip. Agreed, one of the greatest--not punk bands, or indie bands or whatever--just one of the greatest bands, full stop.

  • One of the greatest bands ever.

  • No shit, what a barnyard!

  • God, are you an idiot.

  • what was the point of that? you suck.

  • wow, you're way off.

  • Great. Goes suck on some Dickies then.

  • Holy shit. The Only Minority is bitchin' fast!

  • Scientist Rock! I'm seeing a lot of San Pedro here.

  • D. Boon, big man yet so damn graceful. You don't see that enough.

Floppin' chi-chi's? See it too much.

  • Hve you seen the documentary "We Jam Econo"? Check it out!

  • Wow dboone's last year on earth. Crushed when I heard the news

  • This badges version is way better than the release version on "three-way" - love d.'s little improvs.

  • fuck yeah!

  • you can sy that again!
