Thank you sooo much! I bought a vanity strip and got it home and thought "what do I do with it now?". I almost gave up! So glad you posted this!! Off to Home Depot!!
Thanks for the video! I had no idea it was so easy and inexpensive
I also found out you can buy a switch for a couple of bucks and add it to any cord -- another easy and cheap solution. YouTube won't let me post the link here, but you can google "How to install an in-line cord switch" and it comes right up.
@JourneyToNY I love your videos! You're so funny! Thanks so much for this video!
I seriously didn't want to buy a 200$ Vanity and have my dad do so much lighting work but this is a really cheap way to light my very unlit room. Thank you!
GIRLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I love you. You are the bomb. I love it that your a chick teaching me (another chick) to do it myself because God knows my man ain't no handy man! Life saver!!!! I saw a really nice vanity bar at home depot and was so freakin' bumbed when they didn't have the plug. Now I have a solution. Thank you so much, I am sooooo grateful. I appreciate your video so much! Mwa Mwa Mwa
I just watched a vid about this type of vanity so I went to the site and I was like damn! Thanks girl this is a steal going to save me a pretty penny...Handle that!
girl you're talking my language-I don't know what it's called. lol i can't wait to tackle this project for myself.i'm so excited.thanks for doing this video.hope you do more like it.
Thanks for this. I'm a photographer and always wanted one of these and have been waiting a year for my friend to make me one. Now that I saw this I'll just go make my own. Thanks! :D
Girl u made my night!!! I was just searching/googling for something like this. I was thinking this was possible and heck I work at Home Depot, so tomorrow I'm gonna get with my boy in Electrical and he's gonna help a sista out! Thanks so much :)
Thank you so much for making this video.. needed better lighting for my vanity and came across this video. Going to home Depot today and getting everything :)
@Jennalenna8 I dont remember what brand it was, I snagged it out of Home Depot, and since I am cheap, lol... I am sure it was the cheapest one. It didnt cost me more than 15 bucks.
@MakeupbyTrish i am not sure what daylight bulbs are, but i use ones that have a high wattage so that i can really get a good view of how much makeup i'm applying. Like a 100 watt, is good for me.
Thank U soooooo much cause I wasnt about to pay no dam 299.99 for a Vanity mirror and this is sooooo freakn easy and lest costly so again thank U for an awsome money savn tip.....SMOOCHESS
Girl, I love you! lol I have been searching forever for a way to make this happen and your video showed me! So simply!! Thanks. On my way to home depot!
Hey Hun, what was the cord called that you bought? I have vanity lights that I bought 9 years ago but never got an electrician in to fit them so this sounds great. We don't have Home Depot here in Australia so I just went to Bunnings (similar I think) and I couldn't find anything matching the description :(
@showponyklb its an electric plug, thats what home depot called it. go to a hardware store or any place that puts in lighting for your house and see if they have them. i'm sure they are somewhere over there, dont give up girl, lol. i hope this is helpful.
if you don't mind me asking, how much did all of this cost. I really need to do this in my bedroom and let's just say I'm on high school kids budget-_-"
Thank you SO much. I just moved to a smaller place and lighting is at a premium. I was at Home Depot and Lowes this morning looking for a "plug in vanity light". They weren't very helpful about how I would go about rewiring one. One quick search and you fixed me right up. WTG.
@demeatrist mine only had 2 wires, but you can either tuck that extra wire into the back and see if the lights will still work, if not, twist it with another wire and cap both of them together.
HI girls! Thanks for the idea too, The silver swirls are the threads:0). I took it a step further and cut my cord to four feet and installed my own switch closer to the end, and hid the wire behind PVC conduit. I'm lucky to have a Trapeeze mirror I recently bought from Targe't-LOL! and my vanity light complimented it well. My husband wasn't too keen on the idea but, for a small bathroom remodel that didn't have a hard wired vanity light in the plans it works out great! Thanks!
I have been surfing this damn web for hours days weeks months years trying to get somebody to help me out with this simple solution! And I love that you don't know the names of that silver thing inside the orange thing with the whirls on it - cuz I don't either and I don't care so you are PERFECT for teaching
@JessyJewl911 LOL @ me not knowing the name. I feel your pain though. Just like you, I was searching for this forever. I was surprised that no one had this! I went to Home Depot and Lowes and the rest and no one knew what the hell I was talking about. I ended up buying these on good faith and was shocked that I made it work, lol. I am happy to have shared this with you, I knew I could not have been the only woman in the world who needed one or was puzzled that they dont come plugged in. Thanks!
awesome ! i went out and got everything i needed to do the exact same thing after living with bad lighting in my bedroom for months and double checking my makeup in the car...LOL you are one smart cookie....thank you...
This is a great idea! Thank you. I am moving into a new house and I will have to create my own makeup vanity and this will be perfect for the lighting.
@MyFitBeauty thank you!! Girl thats easy, i used a push pins. I tried to match the holes up on the wall to the ones on the back of the bar. took me a few tries but i finally matched it... so yea, just some cheap good ol push pins... the ones that you use on like a info board...
Wow! This is exactly what I was looking for. I was on the internet for hours trying to find vanity lighting with just a power cord (without all the wiring installation) you are the only one who demonstrated step by step how to do it. So excited. Can't wait to do this! I'm subbing. Thank you so much your the best!
@bellefemme00 HEEY you go gurl! Yes, werk it! go out and get you some good lighting. I did the same thing for years. Trying to find a vanity light plug in only to find out they dont exist. What kinda bull....? Anywho, thanks for the kind words and enjoy your vanity bar!
Wonderful!I had the same idea,I want that "starlet, theatrical lighted vanity"& mostly a perfectly lighted place2do my makeup.Without perfect lighting ur makeup no matter brand is gonna look wonky,My?is,I want to do the sides as well.Is there a way to connect the top strip to the side strips into 1plug?if so could u demo?oh how much did ut items run?TYRTSOMUCH!
@LoriliLee everything ran me about 23 bucks! what a deal huh?!. hmmm... @ your question. I may be able to tell you how to do it... ill do a video response and explain as best i can. so stay tuned...
@MaKeUpByMaRiSoL no ma'am, the bulbs do not come with the vanity bar. you can use any normal light bulbs you like. but make sure you get a good watt bulb (60 - 100 watt). the higher the watt, the better the light. you may be slightly blind and start to see spots if you stare directly into them though... lol.
Thank you sooo much! I bought a vanity strip and got it home and thought "what do I do with it now?". I almost gave up! So glad you posted this!! Off to Home Depot!!
