  • Cullen is by far the greatest attacking full back ever, Cullen could kick too, but never really had to because when he got the ball he saw nothing but opportunities to attack. PAEKAKARIKI EXPRESS!!! All Black coaches didnt know what to do with his talents he played 15,14, and13 plus he played for the Hurricanes who always gave him BADBALL.

  • most exciting footy player ever to put on a pair of boots, and that includes lomu.

  • sorry but he is not the creates cullen edward is

  • Go to my channel to watch Cullen in HD

  • Would I get punched in the face for saying he is (In my opinion) The greatest All black full back I ever?

  • @MrSulinator11 No. You're not taking much of a risk saying it on a tribute video of him either.

  • 2:12 to 2:20 = What the hell?

  • greatest fullback and attacking player ive ever seen, and a good guy aswel not like some of 2days showponys. 1 in a lifetime talent, deans an mitchel need a bullet, mitchel what a joke only south africa would give the retard a coaching job, mitchel had a meeting with cully when he first become coach and thy talked about cullys hand grip on the ball what a joke, the all blacks all time greatest try scorer at the time wtf mitchel, thats when rugby was worth watching

  • I loved watching Christian play growing up, everybody wanted to be him.

  • To think Cullen has hit awesome form again in 2003 running in eight tries but that absolute plonker Mitchell dropped him because of 'personal' differences. Dropped for one hit wonder Ben Atiga and Ben Blair lol what a joke. Thanks Mitchell we lost Cullen too early. Stay in South Africa.

  • good old 240p

  • Serge blanco over this guy my ass

  • @86nugget19 I think the all black players are 9/10 the best players going, but to say he started this style of play is ludacris. Check videos of the 71 Lions tour to NZ and check out the British players running from deep and attacking the line like Cullen did.

  • @TheRadFactor So JPR Williams didn't run from deep at pace? People were playing rugby like this years before Cullen!

  • @scradley12 fuck off mate no one ever's played rugby like this, your nose too far u your british ass i think, this is the all blacks, uk players can't ever compare !!

  • the michael jordan of fullbacks. greatest of all time period.

  • yep our family is proud of him

  • As a South African i was glad he stopped playing against us but also Sad! He is one of the best attacking players the world has ever seen...and couldn't help admire him even scoring against us!! He doesn't run..he floats!!

  • Now that is a hurricane!!

  • He not only had amazing attacking ability, but his defence was rock solid. I can't think of a better FB to have graced the game, not even the mighty Serge Blanco had this much X factor.

  • Cullen is the one who changed the full back role to what it is nowadays. He is the 1st to make it a wing-like job in attack. His speed and steps were incredible,,

  • @TheRadFactor he pretty much made the fullback role like a centre. eg: running at pace and distributing to pass or dummy :) just a thought :)

  • paikakariki express

  • That last try is incredible- has there ever been a better counter-attacking fb?

    No.

  • @forret agreed!!!

  • great which pixel is him?

  • What a freak

  • I named my first born after Christian Cullen. He was simply awesome.I never get tired of watching his acceleration, step & bloody mindeness for scoring tries - often making other good players look second class - esp against the wobblies

  • Quade Coopers inspiration. I read he grew up idolising Cullen, and would practice his stepping style, to and from school when he lived in Tokoroa. Watching Cooper when he runs with the ball, reminded me of Cullen with his snaking runs.

  • @iaheto Now he just needs to learn to tackle like Cullen

  • @scoliva Geeze you're not wrong there.

  • all of it, wow. But 3.03 especially

marshall, mehrtens, lomu, any1, umaga, wilson, cullen = gg shame we didnt see much of this billy slater reminds me of cullen, but cullen looks more effortless

  • These were the days when the only attacking strategy was "get the ball to Lomu or Cullen" Oh to see them playing in todays game!

  • I was able to watch a lot of Christian Cullen when he played for the AB's and the Hurricanes.

    It was a privilege

  • Great vid. Great music...

  • The most balanced player of all time. A true great. He can walk on water!

  • One of my all time favourite players to watch. They dont make them like this anymore now do they.

  • Fuck You John Mitchell cant believe he left him out of the ABs , thats the only reason Cully went over seas

  • 1.18 Filthy SAFA

  • @k0rub0y Fucken Oath bro! Dirty bloody bastard. Cant catch him, Ill try and trip him! That cunt deserved an uppercut!!

  • @CrazyEvo5 You have a way with words. Talk tidy will you.

  • Greatest Fullback of All time !

  • lol my dad gives christain shit. they good mates though. he grew up in paekakariki. my town

  • impossible to tackle him. The coolest thing? he hadn't change run lines to score try, just run and run

  • was this filmed on a calculator?

  • Rapid as, his running technique is incredibly smooth, looks like he just glides over the pitch!

  • wholly fuck he is wicked, my favourite All Alack ever

  • 1.23 Matt Burke gets blitzed!

  • Cullen was fantastic, but not during a long time in his career, during 3 seasons maybe? He is an enigma.

  • Serious gas

He just commits defenders then blows them away

  • great tries but crap angles and shots mate

  • Cullen was a Legend. I haven’t seen any player yet with the skills to match Cullen. Christian Cullen was one of the best Rugby Players of all-time to wear the Black Jersey. Proud to be Kiwi.

  • Never get tired of watching this video. What a gift to rugby........messed up by NZ , Williams et al.

  • @selvanator It was not messed up by NZ, It was messed up by one man ... John Mitchell who dropped him from the all blacks just as Cullen was peaking. This guy was seriously the greatest all black EVER.

  • @ImEasyAs

yea i feel you on that 1....John Mitchell ruined the all blacks team...

undoubtedly the best fullback of all time!!!!

  • the best ever. no doubt.

  • THIS GUY WAS SICK....LOVED WATCHING HIM PLAY

  • miss those days.i used to look foward to watchin him play and u new something unreal was going to happen.mad respect cully.THE BEST.

  • Was he the inspratio for the harness racing horse's name?

  • @suprsonickath Sure was

  • @suprsonickath Yes. The Horse was named after him

  • His ability to change direction was ridiculous

  • Brilliant! Love it!

  • THAT SPEED. He's the best of all time

  • Cullen was one of my all time fav players. And i'm a Scot!

  • i named my budsack after him

  • wish this guy was in Jonah Lomu Rugby (playstation game) instead of Osbourne!

  • Cullen is one of the best if not the best that this country has seen. What the John Mitchell did to him was disgusting and should never of happened. We need players with his skill to stay in the country so they can teach the new players their skills.

he'll always be one of my fav players of all time

  • I watched him back then, and I still watch some those clips today, and I still dont really get it like, how the HECK did he get through there? again and again.

must've been something about the lines he ran coz he was never the fastest around especially later years, sure was quick but not THAT quick gee

watching how he creates all those gaps when you think there's nothing there, that kind of vision it's just beautiful is no longer rugby it's pure art... one in a generation talent

  • @brettthejet100 dude he was rapid but more of a 400 meter runner type of pace, he had an awsome 10 meters on him and amazing change of pace, no cacau but the guy was the dogs. he lost his gass due to being over weight and his knees were knackered, probably due to massive weights he was lifting!

    A legend

  • greatest fullback? I would go further to say he was the greatest player ever.

  • He's so awesome we named our son after him.

  • Comment removed

  • If I had to fuck a guy, I mean if my life depended on it, I'd fuck christian Cullen

  • What gave Cullen such a great side step? What sort of training did he do?

  • Comment removed

  • Jason Robinson is a good rugby player, good speed of the mark and great agility.

Christian Cullen, pound for pound dicked all over all those others who tried to leave their mark.

he's got it all. just too good.

  • Gosh I have soooooooo much footage of Cullen with AB's, Hurricanes & 7's on videos. Keep an eye out, will start uploading them up very soon!!

  • hahahaha my last name is cullen :)

  • Great stuff!!!!

  • u dont get to see such brilliance ths days

  • Greatest back three of all time -by a long way. Christian Cullen, Jonah Lomu, Jeff Wilson. Magic.

  • This man had power, pace, vision and great defence,he could slice any backline to shreds,he saw and used the space on a field that only a select few had the ability to see. Christian Cullen you were pleasure watch!! - from a Bok supporter.

  • Only attacking running back Id put up there with Cullen would be Rupeni.Cullen was also great in defence and my favourite player by far.

  • I named my first born child Cullen, after this guy.

  • @planet9 Fine name. Great player.

  • @planet9 : My 1st Born is also Cullen named after the GREAT, My Son is 10, But fortunately my Son is a Messi fan and want to play Soccer. Dam Laaitties

  • @planet9 dats so depressing. I hope your kidding. if not poor kid

  • Being an Aussie, I'm not frightened to say that Christian Cullen is the greatest rugby player I have ever seen. Just brilliant!

  • @aussiepev I like you mate !!!

  • @aussiepev Now that really is a compliment coming from an Aussie. I've always thought Christian Cullen & Darren Lockyer were very similar players.

  • @Tehui1974 thx mate, Lockyer

's good, Andrew Johns better, but no-one can score those tries like Cullen...Caucau or Rokocoko at their very best maybe

  • can't believe he stopped playing for the all blacks at only 26 years old. absolutely disgraceful how he was handled by the NZRU

  • @hanros98 In fairness, he was half the player he was before his injuries. He lost his dynamic pace and everyone was watching him more with the hope he would get back to his best.

  • Burn John Mitchell!!!

  • man i watch this alot the greatest fullback ever.

  • Will there ever be another Christian Cullen? Absolutely amazing player. Greatest Fullback of all time.

  • @selvanator haha thats the question, people say cory jane might be but i think he has a long way to go

  • It's been said time n time again, and will continue to be said long after we are gone............. Christian Cullen = The GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Best Full Back EVER!!!!...

  • actually the greatest out an out fullback ever. i remember watching him when i was well little

  • Rugby...back yard American Football on steroids....

  • @Brewhaman other way around, American football players are the ones on the roids and American football is the backyard game.

  • @BroomeBlocker4 Opinions are like assholes, in that, everyone has one.

  • that try at 2:10-2:20 against scotland was beautiful i remember watching that game

  • @nzballer best try i reckon ive ever seen

  • no1 in rugby history can match up with this master!!

  • Even thought it's now 8 years since Cullen's last match as an All Black, people still go on about how good this guys was.

  • @Tehui1974

of course bro, Christian is a bloody legend, and always will be

  • @1Matio1 I remember playing him at college. Even though we beat Kapiti College comfortably, everybody in our team was going "wow, who was that guy in the backs?"

  • Christian cullen,he da friggin man,no one could touch him

those were only line breaks, his ability to chip and regain the ball then score was

magic to watch....i still hate mitchell to the max!!!!i meet christian at the tote bar,and yes he was pretty wasted lol,but even though he wasnt selected,he still shook my hand and still backd the a bz,top bloke,i heart this guy!

  • Great complilation. In my opinion, the greatest running back of all time.

  • damnn the last try is wonderfull i made one like that too

  • omg that last tri made me scream

  • quick bastard.

  • best full back ever, retard jihn mitchell

  • @hanros98 I hope John Mitchell is still continuing his "journey" face down in a cowpat somewhere.

  • Awsome!!!!

  • THE FUCKEN BEST EVER

  • the last time rugby was interesting

  • 2:02 SCORPION!!!!!!!!

  • A great era of AB backs, Cullen, Lomu, Umaga, Wilson. Some of the best we have ever produced and certainly amongst the most exciting.

  • my faveourite all black of all time.when i was little i used to get my head shaved so i could look like him

  • The guy who posted this video must be well fit.

  • Such good balance. Outstanding player. An all time great

  • Paekakariki Express! Yea i use to love watching him rip up!

  • awesome vid....in my opinion the 95 team was the best we ever had..they got robbed no way was that a foward pass an the ref was a fukin mile away. walter little was in... but no they wanted a hollywood ending

  • @Itzoficial except that Cullen first played for ABs a year later. Glen Osborne was fullback in 1995

  • @Itzoficial

cullen didn't play in the 95 cup

  • @Itzoficial food poisoning as well :(

  • @Itzoficial wasn't it Lomu who received the forward pass?

  • @Itzoficial Bro Its all done now bro. Just have to look to the future aye. The way things are going with the majority of the talent heading offshore to chase big contracts it leaves little hope for our local crop to grow. Im sad to see the decline in talent at 10 and the mongrel in the forwards... The NZRU needs to do something to improve the future of the sport in our country. When more people show to a soccer game than a S15 game thats gotta say somethings wrong!

  • Great choice of song! "I would stand in line for this. There's always room in life for this" Hell yeah. But sadly "then it fell apart. Like it always does".

That last try.... beautiful. Also, check the clock on those last two. First one is ~10s for a straight(ish) run of ~90m. Second is ~14s for the full length of the field... plus dancing through the entire opposition defense!

    Bring back Cullen (and Buck)!

  • He was the man

  • Like a scythe through the defense, best FB of all time.

  • this is a very american question of me to ask, but is his 40 yard dash timed? i'm really curious

  • no they use meters not yards and they dont test that

  • Thats a good question pal but because these top guys have to achieve massive endurance and aerobic qualities as well it is not as relevant in rugby as it is American football.

Pace is hugely important in rugby but if you compromised your stamina for it too much you then have a team that was outstanding for 20 mins and then publicly eviscerated for the next 60.

A good analogy would be a 100m sprinter vs a 400m runner that could occasionally do well at 200m.

    Explosive acceleration is important too

  • Thanks, i played rugby last year at my university after playing football since i was kid and all the way through high school. It was tons of fun but i just wasn't built to run long distances like that, i did not have the pacing part figured out at all.

His explosive acceleration is just so impressive knowing that everyone around him was also trying to run faster; he was just blowing right past him.

  • That guy running in support at 1:24 is Jeff Wilson and he was easily faster with better acceleration but just didn't have all the other X values in high enough quantities to impact a game like Cullen could.

Now that you have played both you can see why it is so difficult to compare Amer football with rugby as they place value on hugely different physical and mental attributes.

You could say they subscribe to completely different philosophies. Although that may have too large a 'cheese factor'.

  • not cheese at all, that makes perfect sense. i was just too 'stuck' in a play by play mentality, when i really needed to be in the ebs and flows of the gameplay. i wasn't terrible, i was just a more successful football player.

i'm considering coming back out to play next season, as my senior year may be less demanding academically, but i'd better start training now if i am going to.

  • Yeah, I suspect the play by play approach would definitely stifle you in a game of rugby where everything on the periphery of your senses has to be given equal billing to the task in front of you.

Plus when those studs (cleats) make their clattering sound on the way out of the changing sheds you have to want to be completely in that mental groove for 80mins solid and expecting no respite.

That's it!! Rugby on YouTube for me this afternoon.

Have a good season brother, hope you do well.

  • Jeff Wilson didn't have all the other so-called "X values"? I could not disagree with you more. Wilson's skills and abilities were awe-inspiring - I have been watching rugby players for a long time and I have seen few like him. As his career progressed, he just got better and better. He did the right thing in retiring at the very peak of his game.

  • Don't get me wrong bud, he was freaking awesome.

I didn't say he didn't rank super high on the good bastard list, I just personally think Cullen ranks a touch higher despite Wilson's obvious top speed and acceleration advantages.

  • thats all those SA a&%holes know... very little skill but alot of dirt.... but thats what made him the gr8st back of all time; not even their dirty game could contain his brilliance.... i named my 1st born after him n i get goosebumps every time i see him go.... and im a (black) SOUTH AFRICAN

  • i remember a commentator referring to cullen as hot knife through butter!!! cant judge cullen on every aspect of the game but he was, is and forever will be THE best attacking fullback of all time!!! maybe untill he has a son who decides to play rugby lol!!!

  • How's that dirty south african cunt at 1:18! beaten for pace so he throws his boots out there to trip cullen!

  • I think you'll find that the word 'cunt' is so perfectly descriptive of a South African that you could just say 'How's that dirty cunt' and we would all nod our heads knowing exactly who you were referring to.

  • yes im sorry, next time, im talking about something dirty a yarpie does i will be sure to just say cunt. wont take long!

  • The only player i know who could make something out of nothing, from anywhere on the feild.

  • He is still my hero.

  • I played fullback and CC was my hero!! Pace and power, superb. Got a pic of him at home with my mate from NZ. Pride of place!!!

  • fuk off cullen's way betta den Cedric.. Cut him up left, right and centre.. Heyman sux..

  • i love him

  • who.......... no way

  • 2:20 brilliant:D

  • 2bad his injuries wore him down

  • Cullen Ruled alright, kicking was prob his only no so good area of his game. John hart started to play him at centre, then he got some injuries then John Mitchell the spud didnt even select him, thought Ben blair an the Atiga were better.

  • Just makes me cry. They don't make 'em like that anymore. The man was pure brilliance.

  • the man is a genius

  • What a legend!!!!!!!!

  • he was the team

  • I miss him so much :(

  • greatest full back ever

  • @duncandohnut1993 Agreed. Only Jason Robinson comes close.

  • @pudseypumper i dunno, on his day, Robinson was pretty awesome. However he was a little inconsistent. From what i've heard and seen, Blanco's got to be up there. But Cullen's definitely the best

  • What's the name of this song??

  • Moby - Extreme Ways

  • rofl haha go the all blacks, but did anyone here about quade cooper on the weekend rofl arrested for burglury his wallabie days are over but i betcha they still let him play since hes one of the wallabies best and they need all the players they can but still even tho he's nz born

  • FZ6A320 i agree , imo we lost that cup purly based on that decision

  • far out we had some mean players back in the day

sdill do, but just not as hard as the origional, ohh except mayb richie mc'Caw

    go new zealand!

  • The GREATEST rugby full back of them all. I really miss watching you carve your magic on the field, no other is in your level. I can't believe everyone including myself still remember and still pissed off at Mitchell. How many more world cups would we have won if this man was on the team. True legend

  • I can't believe New Zealanders allow Mitchell to stay in their country! Dropping arguably the most gifted rugby player of all time!!

  • We dont, he lives in Australia now.

  • @FZ6A320

Certainly a valid point, however, Jeff Wilson is the most gifted player in the history of the game.

  • @FZ6A320 We got rid him, sent him 2 OZ
