  • GTA Liberty City Stories. <3

  • Love this tune - serious house.

It does sound similar to Slam's Positive Education, in my opinion, especially the rythym structure, don't you think?

  • classic tune...pure and simple. Memories of Garnier at Rex Club early 90s.

And it doesnt matter what pigeon hole anyone wants to put it in. Just enjoy it for what it is.

  • i have this badass on vinyl :D

  • sublime. period.

  • I MEAN THIS IS BESIDE,S MUSIC A PURE FORM OF "ART"...

    That,s the way it is!.

    ;-))

  • Sick tune ! <3

  • Great record....and who cares what the fuck it is. Music is music. And this is MUSIC.

  • @konspiracykid True music lovers who enjoy identifying evolution in sound/ the creation of other genres care. It's very interesting to observe. I don't see the use in fighting over it though... You're meant to enjoy it. If two people share a specialized interest like this type of music, they definitely shouldn't ruin their connection by arguing over concepts...

  • @GenoClown couldn't agree more...I love hearing influential tracks that help to take the music in new directions. What really bugs me is when you get people arguing over genres until they are blue in the face. I think time has got something to do with it too...when I first got into the scene in 89, we knew what genres the tunes were but that never really mattered. On a typical night out djs would play chicago house, detroit techno, british breakbeat, hip-house, belgian new beat: we loved it all!

  • gta ftw

  • nice track, but boy YT f*cked the sound on this one really good ;-(

  • GTA Liberty City Stories... ;)

  • i own the 1992 DJAX records 2vinyl copy :)

  • @EmieltenHoor I still have mine to!

  • @EmieltenHoor And so do I!

  • this track screams old school chicago!awesome

  • Altered state of conciousnesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • Class tune!!

  • Ron Trent? Any relation to Ras Trent?

  • definitely a true work of art

  • For me this is Acid House with Detroit Techno influence. That said this does take you to a place acid house tunes don't normally take you..... High over mountain scapes breathing it all in. Beautiful.

  • House, Acid House, Acid House Techno Explosion Amazing Genre? Hot Tip, stop giving a fuck and star just enjoying this song.

  • excellent has a c in it.

  • @jimmyjubejube so has pedantic..and? lol.

  • i kinda like my shitty pressing on warehouse records...it adds to the grit of the track !!!

  • This is so classic! Old school techno!

  • exxxxxxxxxxxxeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnntttttttt

  • Damn people, who CARES what genre it is? Get over yourselves, you aren't cool just because you can tell the difference between house and acid house.

  • the 1st time it was played it was at the REACTOR club 1990

  • hahahaha....heated debate on utube :>

    enjoy the music retardz. =P

  • @smallz2k more like the finer points in life.

  • Lovely piece of work this

  • how fuckin good is that all these years later?

    goosebumples

  • yeah !!! my favorite track !

  • HAD IT SOLD (GUTTED) BUT I CAN STILL LOOOOOOOOOOVE

  • Ah, the smooth synth chords, the swinging drums, the synco-breaks. A masterpiece. Timeless.

  • definitely Acid House.

  • Do you know what Acid House means ? I think not...

  • @606outburst Listen, chump, I know my music. What can I say about Altered States? The original mix became a club hit among devotees of Techno in the early 90s, but Trent himself was a runner for the Chicago House scene... I would say Altered States is a blend of House, Techno, and Trance, with very subtle Acid accents...but in truth, it's entirely un-formulaic.

  • .... you are right in every single word but tell me one thing: Where is the TB 303 in this track?? That Warehouse Records released massive Acid House tracks is a fact, but "Altered states" contains all, except of Acid....chump

  • @606outburst That's a TR-909 line, hombre, also common in Acid.

  • ... I would say - we better stop now. Of course it is a TR 909, but this is a drum machine (TR= Transistor Rhythm) and it has n o t h i n g in common with a TB (Transistor Bassline) 303. You cannot program a "(Bass)line" with a 909. Trust me, because I own both. Better leave it or read "Acid house for beginners" ;) ... hombre

  • @606outburst Listen, smart-ass, do you take me for an idiot? You're the one that mentioned the 303 in the first place. The point is, there are Acid House ACCENTS in the song, as demonstrated by the abundant use of 909 lines. Period. I happen to own both a 909 and 303 myself, so don't pretend you're a leading light. Case closed.

  • @gasfgiop I love how my comment morphed into a debate over what this track is. I'm gonna have to agree with you here. When I said techno I was being very general. Altered States DEFINITELY has a huge acid influence, but like you said, it's really a blend of everything at the time and by its very nature resists narrow-minded categorization.

And for everyone else, buy the repress! Top notch mastering, much better than the originals.

  • @gasfgiop you sound like your getting wound up.hahahaha

  • @teltronicz When you're this passionate about something, you can't help it.

  • @gasfgiop don't be an arsehole, doesn't make you a pro because you own either drum machine.

  • I dropped this tune at M.O.S. Ron Trent and D.J Disciple, both, shook my hand.

  • Detroit Techno

  • What kind of music is this?

  • Are you joking?! It's techno, dude. I see your German. You of all people should know what this is!

  • more of a house track dont you think?

  • That kick is the essence of techno! Sure, it's pretty atmospheric, but this is techno at its very roots.

  • @rydimryderd

what's race got to do ith anytthing?

  • First of all, a person's country isn't a race, it's an ethnicity. Second, Germans are blessed with techno clubs in even the smallest towns. Third, on a whole there's a much larger cultural appreciation for electronic music in places like German.

  • 3 words

  • I remember when I 1st played this, my sister was like, 'It sounds like the whole house is ripping apart!' lols

  • Truth. Music.

  • a true work of art
