@persiandudeee azari of iran never persified ,azari are original persian who later some turkified by turkman tribe settelment in azarbijan.
azarbaijan is oldest persian province,persian language,culture,religion oroginated from azarbaijan(azarabadegan).
first time persian tribe were recorder by assyrians 3000 years back near lake orumiyeh?(in iran west azarbaijan province).
in fact azari are true persians ,whic my some have turkman mix or know both languge turkmani and persian/parsi.

1)REZA SHAH :was from mazndaran province which there is no azeri there and they speak an iranian dilect is called mazandarani wich is from parsi pahlavi(pahlavi persian)
2)khamenei is iranian azeri from father side and from mother side mashadi parsi
3)azeri r 20%of iran rest are fars,kurd,mazani,gilak,arab,armanian,....

@sspersian you say you get the info from cia world fact book i just checked it and it says 24% of iran is azeri (Persian 51%, Azeri 24%, Gilaki and Mazandarani 8%, Kurd 7%, Arab 3%, Lur 2%, Baloch 2%, Turkmen 2%, other 1)
there are many more azeris in iran but they are ideologically assimilated

@piquantugur according to book of usa congres:persian65%(wich included the :dari persian/farsi 51%,and pahlavi persian:mazani .gilak ,lur 10%).
in cia fact books:they devide the persian dilects,while mazandarani,gilak are almost the same as standard persian(dari persian).and azeri as 20 %-max24%.

1)peaple who are called azeri ,comes from persian land (land of fire) who are 100% thnic parsi,and speaker ,in 12 century by mongol invasion ,turkman tribes dominate azarbaijan and turkic become one of the dilect they speak.
2)turkey:is a new state made by kamal ataturk(a macadonian in otoman army),tryed to turkify all peaple in turkey(iranian kurds,arman,....
