Yes a good good song is good song I know Sandy Denny was a great favourite of Mary's and her songs keep appearing on her albums and on stage. Lovely thanks for the treat
That's true.. I think this is beautiful. If you can't say anything nice & don't like it, just a mouse click will get you away from it. Please let the rest of us enjoy the show.
Actually, I preferred Judy's version until the Uilleann pipes struck in. The perfect accompaniment instrument to a tune such as this.. Now I've got a new favorite.
Say which is your fave version of a tune and respect others their right to their choice. Age has brought that lesson to anybody who has long enjoyed music. This celtic one is very good too. Thanx for the posting.
I agree my friend !! All to often on u tbe i find i run into a mussey snobs who picks at someones post or song or artist or just someones grammer lol and they seem to have lost sight of what music brings us....!!! A personal revelation...thats all that counts !! so enjoy and peace out a bit for fxxks sake ! lol

Thank you, LordofDiblin. "Lose the debate...." (and you are a lot more tolerant than me - what I really wanted to say was how the fuck can anyone really REALLY hear music with all that fucking knowledge competing with it!! Ah, but I only thought it, or maybe dementedly whispered it to you). Thanks again.
I love this woman's voice. First saw her singing "Hard Times Come Again no More" with the McGarrigles, Rufus Wainwright and Emmy Lou Harris on Youtube. It's so nice to discover this artist. Thanks for sharing, and let's remember lovely Sandy Denny today: 6 January 1947 – 21 April 1978
Lose the debate folks about who sings this special song best. Whether it's Sandy Denny, Judy Collins, or whomever else it is a song to be enjoyed and embraced. It's all personal preference.
Mary makes every song she sings her song. Sweet, crystal clear voice that pierces your heart with honesty and opens it to an understanding all of life's frailties.
What a song ! So glad Sandy Denny wrote it. Nina Simone's version is the one I love most. Rather than comparing (with meaningless statements like, "no one has ever done anything with this song that gets even close to Sandy Denny") amazing singers doing a beautiful song why not appreciate the mastery of each of these singer's versions of this great song?
fantastic .. Wee Mary ... love to hear this song and your version .. best ... but love Sandy .. anyways ... the Glasgow ... Scotia Bar .. had a good memory of your visits ... .. Slainthe ..... love from Glasgow to Mary Black ... great voice .. great girl . !
Hi Maray how do I know where the time goes. it is the Ireland fiire of SFran it is a long losts song bird from the Cinic by way of Marilyn in San Juan Capistrano you are the best. the Dancing Doll. What a memorie. Merry Christmas your voice is the bell of Irelandl.........BLouise
oh i agree, this is very pretty . but with the internet and all these days it could fall into the wrong hands. anything can happen in a world where "pink moon" is used in a car commercial ...
GREAT VERSION, We Need to hear more from Mary and the emotion that she knows how to deliver. God Bless and Rest In Peace dear Sandy and Eva. Please carry on Mary. We need you and your talent today more than ever.
a great song by a great singer .. very rare .... Sandy made it good song ... wee Mary .. made it great .... if you see this Mary ... regards from " Scotia Bar " in Glasgow ... manys a happy night ..sessions ... great version .... slainthe !
Sandy denny was a friend who came and closed her soul spirit around our new and beautifull meeting. Since we married by our dad in australia and we are still sailing high. This song and you version is unberleivable and magestic, the arrangement is just ...........Thank you for you voice and honesty. Proud of you A.
I love everything I've heard Mary Black sing and one song that she does that is my favorite and that is Both Sides the Tweed. I would like to see that song on Youtube
I know, by right of authorship, this is Sandy Denny's song. But, if I didn't know that, having watched all the other versions on the tube, I would think it's Mary's.
From Englands finest folk singer to Irelands ! I adore everything about Sandy Denny but more recent Mary - Mary Black my hero , I have so much to thank her for - aside from her introducing me to the legend that is Sandy Denny .
First, just covering this song shows good taste. Second, sure Sandy, Kate, and Nanci's versions might be better--but those three are the greatest and most tasteful singers of all time. Third, did anyone notice the spacey backing and recording--very sensitive.

.....Sandy gifted us and the world with the words and essence
and is the real essence of the "meaning of those words"....
It was time for her to go....but, she is still here with these words
with no thought of time....who knows where the time goes...
Love remains and grows thru the emotions and breath that she gives this great body of work....
Our loves in this life never really leave us..
Sandy gave this song birth...now, others life, if only
for a moment in time--

A very average version of a great, great song.
Sandy's versions are much less showy and convey far more emotion that this with its silly tricks and daft whispers - lounge music!

Very nice version - I first heard this on a Judy Collins recording in the late 60's. I've never strayed from my love of accoustic music.
