  • You play and sing so wonderful...congratulations !

  • You're too good to be true, Kamel!! Bravo!!

  • Marvellous. Some people are simply touched by God and given genius. Actor, singer, pianist. What next?

Kamel sang An die Musik by Schubert at the funeral of his voice teacher, Todd Duncan, about 10 years ago. I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

  • She smiles so enviously there thinking: 'yeah, play your octaves now, matey, let's see what i'll do with that piano later!"

  • Muahahahahhahahahah! I thought the same thing! ROFL!

  • Clever! hehehehehe

  • i can see that martha was enjoying BRAVO!!!

  • Nice performance! (but by the way, it's not from "West Side Story" but from My Fair Lady!)

  • Who is that CAMELLO ?

  • Ha, I thought you would play the piano and Martha would sing, hahaha.

Very very nice, I'd like very much to know how to improvise like that. I like your voice, it's deep but not exagerate.

  • Also, may I ask if this was an improvisation? If it is, it's even better!

  • Haha, I saw this on another website.

Just beautiful. You made it so expressive, and got me addicted to the music. You even made Argerich smile! Looked like she enjoyed the performance too. =)

I'd love to hear more of you. This is the only video that I've seen you perform the piano. Hope you have more performances that you will record because I really enjoyed it! (especially at 2:15!)

  • Thanks. Yes I improved that. and at 2:15, I think I crashed something in that chord, but somehow I like it. I should sing it half a step higher next time, it needs a little push now. Did you see my improv on twinkle twinkle with Peter Bucknell (viola), it's on here as well, check it out.

Thanks for your nice comments. Kamel

  • Hmm, more like the transition from 2:13 to 2:14.

I also saw the improv., not just the 'Twinkle Twinkle, but also the random improv. with the Cello. Amazing stuff. The connection between you and the other instrument is amazing! Plus the on-spot arrangement is just unreal. It seems to help if you know a lot of techniques.

    I can only dream...

  • what's the name of this beautiful song..?

  • "On the Street Where You Live" from West Side Story.

  • oh.. in that case... hehe sorry my stupid question... thank you

  • not at all. you're welcome

  • oops, I meant My Fair Lady.. thanks Lacson1234

  • Wait, kameliokamelio, you're Kamel Boutros? You must be very proud of having performed with Martha Argerich. I'm infinitely envious, though I have no musical talent. I'm also very impressed with you; it must have been very intimidating playing an encore on the piano with the world's best pianist staring at you from a meter away. And if that playing was improv, I'm doubly impressed. Bravo.

(Out of interest, when was this recorded?)

  • thanks .. I think we did this summer of 2005, can't remember exactly. Well yes I almost always improv the accompaniments, it's tough sometimes because I could go nuts on the keys and then not breathe very well for singing! thanks again, Happy New year.

  • Considering just who Martha is and what's she's done, my hat's off to this man for playing an improv right in front of her.

  • How intimidating is that? Playing the piano and having this woman stare right at you.

  • No. I think he was married to martha, not to Charles Dutoit.

  • I believe Kamel Boutros was married to martha argerich at one time. They may still be married.

  • That's funny. I think you mean Charles Dutoit.

  • Martha looks impressed!

  • Please forgive my ignorance. But who is Kamel Boutros? I just google him on the Internet and only found that he is an actor and showed up in some Hollywood films. And I am not even sure whether or not this Kamel Boutros is the same guy as the one I got on the net. Where can I get the complete profile of Kamel Boutros? Where can I get this impressive video? I do appreciate his voice. And it is the first time I see Martha Argerich as an "audience" on Youtube. ^^

  • Hi, yes I did films as well, that's why I pop up on IMDB. I have this video of course, but I need to make the sound better somehow, little time these days. Ciao stravinsky and thanks.

  • I love this guy for he is a real musician, not just a dumb & beautiful voice. And he can play the piano quite well. IF that was his improvised piano playing, it was even more impressive with such creativity that even Martha must be impressed and enjoying at that instant!! BRAVO!

  • Thank you so much for saying that. It's very humbling that Martha likes my improvs & Singing. THX again.

  • She must be wondering "why I'm in the middle of this..." LOL
