@ZDrums24 Our understanding of warming/cooling trends and what affects/effects them is fairly comprehensive. You can't point to one extreme as a standard by which to judge all other trends that have similar contexts (your PoR). The rate of increase in temperature has been observed to have increased within this cycle and that can be explained by basic science. The context is trends of warming/cooling over time on a global scale generally and specifically different points in time of this cycle
Global Warming is happening. That really isn't up for debate. The question is about cause. The earth has been following a very erratic cycle of warming and cooling almost since its creation. Who is to say that we humans caused the slow climb of temperatures we are experiencing?
Not that we should stop trying to reduce our impact.

There are greenhouse gasses and the way they work is an established scientific principle. There are greater concentrations of these greenhouse gasses due to human effects on the environment. Scientists with data and understanding of the underlying principles are the ones to say we are contributing to the increasing (accelerating) temperatures we are observing.
@3wsgabav3 Yes, but a good scientist will admit that our understanding of the universe is pretty limited. My point is that the earth already has an established pattern of warming and cooling. At least once, the earth shifted from what we consider the norm to an ice age in under 3 years (such a radical shift does indeed make this warming patter look slow). We do not fully understand this pattern of warm periods and ice ages and its causes as of now, so how do we view global warming in context?

@KindKristin The problem with the cooking oil solution is that it is horribly inefficient and not very clean. A primary reason no good alternative fuels have hit the market is because nothing really can compete with gasoline or diesel for efficiency or reduced emission on a practical level.

Carbon is regularly emited all around the world from everything that decays naturally ie; sticks on the ground break down and release its carbon into the air simply from chemical process known as decay. Humans and all living things exhale CO2 and the plants and plankton absorb it, break the chain apart and then release the O2 back into the air.

The family I live with is expecting to save money as you seem to use less power when you know how much is used.

No, that's just a form of weather shifting. Here in the UK our summers are getting colder but our winters are becoming warmer - hardly ever any snow in most parts, in fact, some winters are warm enough to not wear a jacket.
On the whole, the World is warming slightly, and carbon fumes are 'assisting' (not causing) this change. By cutting emissions we could help to slow down the affect, but i wouldn't be so sure about reversing it.

CO2 traps heat, the Insutrial Revolution, all those Nuke stations, cars, airplanes, etc, all contribute to rising co2. @ZDrums24 Our understanding of warming/cooling trends and what affects/effects them is fairly comprehensive. You can't point to one extreme as a standard by which to judge all other trends that have similar contexts (your PoR). The rate of increase in temperature has been observed to have increased within this cycle and that can be explained by basic science. The context is trends of warming/cooling over time on a global scale generally and specifically different points in time of this cycle

Global Warming is happening. That really isn't up for debate. The question is about cause. The earth has been following a very erratic cycle of warming and cooling almost since its creation. Who is to say that we humans caused the slow climb of temperatures we are experiencing?

There are greenhouse gasses and the way they work is an established scientific principle. There are greater concentrations of these greenhouse gasses due to human effects on the environment. Scientists with data and understanding of the underlying principles are the ones to say we are contributing to the increasing (accelerating) temperatures we are observing.

@3wsgabav3 Yes, but a good scientist will admit that our understanding of the universe is pretty limited. My point is that the earth already has an established pattern of warming and cooling. At least once, the earth shifted from what we consider the norm to an ice age in under 3 years (such a radical shift does indeed make this warming patter look slow). We do not fully understand this pattern of warm periods and ice ages and its causes as of now, so how do we view global warming in context?

@KindKristin The problem with the cooking oil solution is that it is horribly inefficient and not very clean. A primary reason no good alternative fuels have hit the market is because nothing really can compete with gasoline or diesel for efficiency or reduced emission on a practical level.

You are so right man and what everyone isnt understanding is that CO2 doesnt come from burning fossil fuels, you get CO1 from that. Carbon is regularly emited all around the world from everything that decays naturally ie; sticks on the ground break down and release its carbon into the air simply from chemical process known as decay. Humans and all living things exhale CO2 and the plants and plankton absorb it, break the chain apart and then release the O2 back into the air.

Agreed. I've never seen anything on tv to scare me about global warming. I try and watch all news networks to here all sides and weed out the bullshit.
I currently live in the US and I enjoy watching "Planet Green" as they have some good ideas on energy savings. I bought one of those electricity usage monitors that you place on your home meter. The family I live with is expecting to save money as you seem to use less power when you know how much is used.

I notice how all the pro-climate change comments are getting negative scores and anti climate change comments are getting positive ones.
Moreover, the well illustrated pro-climate change comments that are only one step from digging up masses of rigorous peer-reviewed literature that underpins the copenhagen conference are getting the lowest ratings.

No, that's just a form of weather shifting. Here in the UK our summers are getting colder but our winters are becoming warmer - hardly ever any snow in most parts, in fact, some winters are warm enough to not wear a jacket.
On the whole, the World is warming slightly, and carbon fumes are 'assisting' (not causing) this change. By cutting emissions we could help to slow down the affect, but i wouldn't be so sure about reversing it.

Im in UK's hottest place and it makes me laugh to hear you think the winters are getting warmer.....and what do you base that on? Your how many years on the planet? (32?) We get snow! And i brought a wnters coat on Saturday ;) As for the world warmng.....actually we are in a period of global cooling...not warming! And there is not evidence that carbon rises due to human activity....does human activity cause the ice on mars to melt?

They analyse really tiny changes and how slowly or quickly they happen to get estimates

And actually, yes, there is evidence that CO2 rises due to human activity on Earth. The most obvious clue-in being the steep climb of ppm of CO2 released starting from the Industrial Revolution.

It is not just human influence but natural factors that affect the Earth's climate/environment. CO2 traps heat, the Insutrial Revolution, all those Nuke stations, cars, airplanes, etc, all contribute to rising co2. Surely this must have some affect on the Global warming issue, seeing as more and more pollution is being churned out constantly, every day, month, year and for the forseeable future.

uh, yeah, but that doesnt stop heat build up, it isnt enough to take all the co2, and isnt going to do shit really at all when more than half of the rainforest gets cut down. Rising heat levels will kill the plants.

Yes u idiot, of course, its what they consume, but when theres excess CO2 and they cant take it all in, which is currently happening right now, as of 2009, co2 acts as a greenhouse gas trapping heat inside the earth and rising heat levels will kills plants and trees that dont live in those types of conditions. Do you understand? So no, all is NOT well, and you have alot to fear, as this raising heat levels, means biological threats of new diseases and forced population changes.

It's about using our resources properly, and not in a corrupt way like we are now.
We create inefficient products so that they run out in 2-3 years and then you have to buy the product again, they do this because it gains profit

Companies wouldn't produce efficient products that last 60 years or so because that would make the company lose money since people wouldn't be buying any more products since they've already got one that lasts 60 years. So they create INEFFICIENT products that last a while and then you have to buy more. It's crazy and if we didn't have such a profit way fo thinking in this world we'd be able to create efficient products for everyone to use.

no doubt the temperature changes but who is to say it is from us. Ever hear of the sun, the galactic alignment or the tilt. climate change is a natural event that still would be happening if we were all living in caves. The universe is always changing get over it. The fact that some scientist have been caught changing data or room temperature while giving a speech shows that the government is power hungry. Explain why each member of that meeting flew intheir own private jets? It doesn't add up.
