Goddamn I use to play Kingpin life of crime religiously on heat.net... I was a youngster...Then one day it was just done, and you had to pay for gamespy... Back in the day DGXTiger
Hey i almost won some money playing Quake on Heat.net! My handle was Silent_Assassin the owners of Heat would play Quake from time to time. Mplayer was really cool too
@PizzaParlorArcade Nice. Aside from the stuff I bought with degrees, I won a Dreamcast in the Quake: Da Bomb lobby. As a 15 year old kid with no job, I have never been so excited in my life.
Those were the ol' good days, tweaking the Quake II game to super rocketjump, binding a script of one's invention on HEAT.NET's server or cheating using the Ratbot's autoaim, lol, that was fun.
I was camper of the year one year? xXminionXx *waves*
Seriously would like to know where some people are nowadays? I remember hobiggitybag, Ralph2 and a few others. Community was great. And respect to Sega. They were ahead of their time.
Oh Dam, Didn't know this was here until I caught up with Tapewormz and he linked for me. CmeSeeU = GeneralHEAT = ProfessorHEAT = Grillo!
How the hell you guys been? Dam I miss the old network, Quake DaBomb (grandfather to CounterStrike imo) all the cool contests and paintball trips, E3 Trips....
Some awesome heat.net exclusives and rewards just for playing as well, I was a "HEAT.NET Footsoldier" back in the day and got tons of swag. I guess things like Xbox Live and PSN are spiritual successors to this great gaming service.
Oh god that brings back memories. MAINGATE MALE VS FEMALE LET'S GO! I got a lot of free crap from that place. I managed to snag $300 from that Unreal Tournament Tournament. Those were the days.
Man I remember as a kid getting this disc in the mail and watching the video over and over and thinking this was the hottest shit ever. I remember playing DeathDrome alot.
I remember Heat.net and had a lot of pride for it. I was in Baron's Club for the longest time. I was ESCxEevlsoul. Had the largest/2nd largest Quake 2 clan on Heat. After Heat.net, went on to Counter-Strike and played on a local Chicago server where ColonelKill also played on...as well as GeneralHeat and one of the other admins who ran Footsoldiers Club.
Ever hear from Reniu or any of the other guys? I know Grillo's been busy with life. It's virtually impossible to find any reference of heat.net on the net since geocities packed it in. All those heat recruiting sites are gone. hehe
Takes me back to 98-99 for sure. I loved playing Quake II CTF, that was my shit

Code-Red from the Quake lobby WAY back. I really miss playing Death Drone, that was an excellent Tron-style game.
By the way, Heat > mPlayer

Reinu is that you?
dhahlen 3 months ago
@dhahlen No, Reniu (Doug) won POTY in 1997. I won it in 1998. I was also pretty good at Battlezone. ;)
I've been trying to locate Reniu on the interwebz, with no luck. Trying to get him to join our Steam Community Group which is Heat.net.
Feel free to join us yourself. What was your Heat alias?

i seem like an old gamer now, I use to play on heat.net didn't really like mplayer, found it hard to setup for my 13 year old brain back then.
Heat was idiot proof.
