Don't just put them in a cage that one has already marked. Don't just let them fight it out as someone else advised. Just like people, some rats won't take to each other.
@dminter100 great what kind of cage do you have? and get another one from the same sex they are happier in pairs.
suggestion for letting them getting introduced to eachother (this avoids alot fights), get them both on a flat surface and put something the first rat likes on that flat surface to (I mean something like a tube from the cage) get them used to sharing, wash the cage and put them in when they are used to eachother ;) (sorry for my bad explanation im really bad at explaining things XD)
@bob0s062 you need to put them on a flat surface with a tube from the cage and they should get used to each other, wash the cage (so it's clean (duh!)) and put the new rat in first(!!!), let him/her explore the cage for a minute or two and put the other one in and everything should be fine. if they start to fight you should let them as long there is no blood.
I have mice right now but I hope after I get my mice their bigger eco friendly cage to get a little ratty or two. Probibly two girls or maybe get a little boy and have him fixed. My vet is magical and can fix rats so eventualy I can get him a friend.

Yeah, a bit small. But its tall, so its not like its incredibly terrible. Recommend a longer/wider cage. I have a tall cage too and my rats love it. But I give them their floor room as well.

I have two pet rats. Lizzy and Mandy. Lizzy likes to lick instead of bite!And is super friendly! But mandy still bites...but she is adorable and friendly still! I think the only reason that she bites is that she just thinks that I am giving her a treat!Enough about my rats, Margot is so cute! How old is she and where did you get her?

I used to have a pet rat but i died cuz oh driving drunk whit no seat bell. cops were chasing her she wanted to stop but she could not do that cuz her legs were to short and she could not reach brakes after 500 miles cops shoot her in the tires she stopped the car (somehow)?... she started running to the woods and finally bear attacked her she took her knife and stabbed bear in head 4365 times. after running 10 miles she realized that she was in her cage and running around. she lived long ever..

@m4n734 : first off, if mom doesnt approve, it's best to wait till you have a place of your own so as not to step on any toes.. I would kill my child if he brought home an animal I didnt want in my house.. lol (Like a scorpion.. I think they look cool but I have a fear of venomous animals). Secondly, Most petshops where you can purchase your rat also suply the cages and everything else you'll need.

@AltoButterz It could be that he is getting bumblefoot. or he may have got his lil paw caught in the door when you were closing it by accident. That happened to my lil Max. Look up on Bumblefoot in rats though! I hope he gets better! Good luck!
