  • This is more like it, I LOVED the closing theme, great memories!!!

  • Anyone heard Andy Gibb sing the closing?

  • Now THIS is the theme I remember.

  • @MsTexas73 ME TOO!!!!

  • @bigeyezzzzzzz :^D Sweet Memories!

  • @MsTexas73 I'm glad I helped make them for you. I composed the theme, and my friend, Dean Pitchford wrote the lyrics. We wrote it in an afternoon in August of 1980. Seems like only yesterday....

  • @bigeyezzzzzzz WOW! Really? KOO! See this is one reason why I like YT. I meet interesitng people and read interesting background info. Thanks for sharing that.

  • @MsTexas73 Thanks very much for all your cheery words!!

  • @TG1980 Thanks for your compliments, and also, even thought Fremantlemedia owns All American Television and Pearson Television, it'll always be All American Television, Pearson Television, Mark Goodson Productions and Reg Grundy Productions.

and plus, during 1983, Reg Grundy brought back $ale of the Century w/Jim Perry on NBC

  • @TG1980 I will say this to ya, and I don't know about you, but even though CBS owns Paramount Television, it'll always be Desliu, Paramount Television and VIACOM in my book, just like SONY may own Columbia-Tri Star, but it will always by Screen Gems, Columbia Pictures Television, Tri Star, Coca-Cola, Embassy Television in my book, and NBC may own Universal Television, but it will always by Universal Television in my book and Warner Bros. owning LORIMAR, it'll always be LORIMAR in my book

  • @TG1980 Well even though CBS now owns Paramount and other Viacom Shows, I will say this, The Theme to Solid Gold, Entertainment Tonight (The Early Years), Real TV (before Ahmad Rashad took over has Great Themes that can get you fired up, just like the NBA on NBC gets me fired up and it's BETTER than American Idol and all that other Reality Garbage

and plus, Dionne Warwick and Marilyn McCoo will always Solid Gold just like Mary Hart will always be Entertainment Tonight

    Would you agree?

  • Well just so ya know: in 1983, Paramount Television had Solid Gold, Entertainment Tonight, Family Ties, Cheers, Mr. Smith, The New Odd Couple, Taxi, Webster and of course, Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley

  • Paramount Television, the company that was responsible for giving us syndicated/cable shows like Solid Gold, Entertainment Tonight, Hard Copy, The Arsenio Hall Show, Wipeout, Real TV, Star Trek: TNG, Star Trek: DSN, Maximum Exposure, Hot Ticket, The Insider, Judge Mills Lane, Montel, The Original Maury Povich Show, and of course, Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown as well as AXN & Life, Camera, Action

Thank You Paramount for all the shows you provided for us and please, continue your success.

  • oh yes... this is the best closing theme. what happened to music like this?

  • Why don't they show these on VH1 or Much More Music? Even after 25+ years, these programs would still be more fun to watch than the "American Idol" garbage.

  • VH-1 did show abbreviated versions of Solid Gold and American Bandstand in the late 90's. The biggest problem with these shows being rebroadcast in their original 1 hour format is due to music licensing. In many cases it would cost way too much too license everything and pay residuals to those involved so the shows end up getting edited down to 30 minutes to avoid some of those fees.

That's the biggest reason music shows such as this will probably never appear on DVD. Too expensive to produce.

  • @EONSFTFAN I think it was just American Bandstand that aired on VH-1!

  • VH-1 showed both American Bandstand and Solid Gold in a 30 minute format. I have a 6 hour tape of Solid Gold that I recorded from one of those marathons. I also have a 6 hour tape of American Bandstand as well from yet another marathon. The thing I remember about the reruns on VH-1 is that the announcer ALWAYS talked over the closing theme and I don't mean the late Robert W. Morgan. I mean an announcer with VH-1 would mention what was coming up next.

  • @icm1970 yes, Solid Gold, in fact ANY show is better than American Idol

American Bandstand, Soul Train, Solid Gold, Club MTV and even America's Top 10 w/Casey Kasem

  • @icm1970

Probably licensing fees for all the single songs heard on the program.

  • I believe this is the 1979 theme variation of the Paramount Television Blue Mountain Logo.

  • It is.

  • Yessir you are absolutely right and glad someone actually had the finishing ending credits of Solid Gold with Paramount's Blue Mountain for once.
