  • Thanks for posting. My Dad Owned this 78. I played it out when I was a kid. I Love the crackeling Record sound. Reminds me of the good times!

  • ah spike jones. I miss him. This is just too awesome.

  • This is so crazy man! I just wish these guys were still around now to ridicule and caricature our ridiculous so called world "leaders" of politics, business, financiers etc.

  • Man we thought this was the funniest thing we ever heard at 12 years old

  • noooooooooobbbbbb numark

  • If this really is a war chant, then they must be fighting with bunny slippers, beanies, and balloon swords.

  • I got here from the Thanksgiving parade... and because I recognized it from ponies.

  • As the sun pulls away from the shore and our boat sinks in the west. LOL

  • you should hear this live

  • Ponies.

  • lmao

  • Parish of space dust.

  • spelled backwards "ul ul"

  • I want to dance to this with Clara Dauga.

  • memories of cartoons in the morning is what this reminds me of :D

  • @BOT101st Brilliant! how did you get it?

  • @lotec11

Urm theres this internet website called online converter, use that, then download an audio software called audacity which lets you edit sound tracks and just cut it down and what not then connected my phone to pc and downloaded it to there :D

  • @BOT101st Thanks! it worked!

  • @lotec11

    You're welcome chap!! :)

  • Eu tenho um disco raríssimo deste cara que é muito legal, suas apresentações são demais legais, ouvia e agora assiste-se com maiores alegrias!

  • I had my dad record this on a casette tape and when i'm feeling down i listen to it, even though my kids look at me like i've gone crazy..

  • Aviva used this in a commercial that was always on in the breaks during The Wright Stuff!

  • spike jones had no right to be funny, he just was so funny i still laugh everytime i hear him, my first lp was spike jones to me its priceless

  • My God this is so funny.

  • Thumbs up if My Little Pony brought you here

  • @kamaradakamikaze Yeah... that show is overflowing to everything. If some brony some how thinks something would be funny with MLP:FiM, the resulting vid causes others to drift right on over the new connection. It's part of the master plan to assimilate the entire internet! MUHAHAHA... *cough*... ahem... that wasn't supposed to be public knowledge... >_>... Oh, well.

  • @Tjprower someone already did. Here's the link- youtube . com /watch?v=EAsR5jgXnUM

  • @fnerXVI What? That's the video that was already mentioned, I don't know what? 6_9

My comment was in reference to the video that you just redirected to. Thanks for sending me into a wild goose chase for 15 minutes trying to figure out what your point was. =P

  • @kamaradakamikaze I've been enjoying the last few days where My Little Pony hasn't invaded my life in any way shape or form. I completely forgot Bronies exist.

    You just ruined it.

  • @kamaradakamikaze What..The... Fuck?!?!

  • @MrBlackstar1992 There's a video on here called "Equestrian War Chant" which features the characters from "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" doing crazy things to this song.

  • @lutiff Hahaha :D I'll try to find it shortly :P

  • @MrBlackstar1992 Trust me, you'll love it. :)

  • @lutiff Yeah, it was fairly awesome :D

  • My god I haven't listened to Spike Jones since my far distance childhood....wonderful memories!!!!!

  • I miss the days of vinyl.

  • @Orlor - and shellac too! (shellac is what most 78rpm records were made from).

  • @Orlor I got this around 1951 in a two-7-inch 45 rpm record set; vinyl was red or red orange, sorry can't recall exactly.

  • Spike is awesome!

  • can someone do a version with lyrics please!

  • THE PARISH OF SPACE DUST!

  • I've always wondered which song Timon and Pumbaa parodied in their luau scene.

  • I saw a record turntable as recently as a few years ago for sale at walmart.

  • I want to learn to do that :D

  • I remember playing this record. My mom wanted to play Harry Owens, Thanks for the memory.

  • If someone asks me for the definition of 'fun', I would just play this record for him.

  • He had the tightest band on earth in those days. Brilliant!

  • 78 rpm records; jeeze i haven't seen one of those in probably 40 years. :-D

  • The King of Dr. Demento's odd crap.

  • Wake up people. This is so beyond southpark and all that you think is comedy. This is the root of not only annoying sounds, it's the root of hifi sound all to gether.

  • remembering Greville Raines ... my brilliant father in law who died in 2006 .... taken suddenly and soon but he loved spike ... listening to these tunes brings back so many happy memories :0) xxxxx

  • I used to listen to Spike Jones Greatest Hits on an old 8-Track. I was somewhere around 7 or so. Back in the early-mid 80's. Spike was awesome!! BTW, fantastic turntable. Where did you get it?

  • me "rodney hodgson used to fall about at this , sweet memories of the 50s

  • Ha haa, this is simply hilarious!! I knew already his versions "Cocktails for Two", "William Tell Overture", "The Fuhrer's Face" and others but it was the first itme ever I listened to this one!! Thanks a million for posting this relic and Happy Holidays!!

  • Can see how Spike's material gave some inspiration to a certain T.A.P.S. Milligan KBE ;-j

  • I wish they had Spike's Travelogue parody that used this song on Youtube.

  • I have this on the original 78.

  • thank you jj from dk. your efforts are appreciated by crazy people everywhere.

  • I know this was probably made in fun, but it's just gibberish. There are no discernible Hawaiian words.

  • One of his siilliest, yet funniest, recordings was titles,"The Jones Laughing Record." It begins with an elaborate introduction on the piano, leading into "The Flight of the Bumblebee" on the tuba. Then someone sneezes, someone giggles, and it's absolute mayhem from then on.

  • Some enterprising young animator has a timed track here!

  • go blue!

  • it sounds like it has the same rythm as the hula song in the lion king. dosen't it?

  • @ThePsycoticboxman

the hula song in "The Lion King", was the original "Ta-Hu- Wa- Hu- Wai" which Spike Jones was parodying in this number.

  • @paperdain but wasen't this song made about almost a half a century or so before the Lion King hula song came out? so how is it a parody of that song that wasen't even made yet? i think he might be the actual creator of this song and the lion king producers took the same rythim of the song and made a new one out of it.

  • @ThePsycoticboxman

No, Disney got the rights from the estate of the original writers of "Ta-Hu- Wa- Hu- Wai" which was preformed in it's original state many times by the Lawrence Welk, Don Ho and many others long before Disney used it.

  • oops Lawrence Whelk singers

  • @paperdain oh! i see. i got a little confused there.

  • Who would have thought then that ALL "popular" music would sound like this?

  • @Jujigatamesan You've lost me - could you explain?

  • @firestartertwistedfi

Juji probably meant that today's "popular" music is just as unintelligible as most of this song.

I agree with Juji totally, if that's what he/she meant. At least Spike Jones was funny.

  • Spike was something special. This is just WONDERFUL.

  • Classic Spike Jones. SWEET turntable, by the way!

  • Sounds almost like they were singing in Finnish.

  • i can remember being 10 or 11 and sitting in front of our record player listening to this and yelling at my brother to stop making it skip. i know practically every word to every song from side B of one of the records in a 3 or 4 record best of set that was my grandparents. today's comedians could never match this

  • OMG! I never heard this before. I never realized Disney stole this music and re-wrote it for Timon and Pumba in the Lion King!!!!

  • @cuteycindyhoney I know right! I thought it sounded familiar.

  • @CarpeDiem121892 I listened to it several times before I realized where I heard the basic underlying tune before!

  • @cuteycindyhoney It wasn't "stolen". It was used with permission and given attribution in the scrolling credits right after "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" and "It's a Small World". Disney may have stole from Tezuka, but they didn't steal from Johnny Noble and Leleiohoku.

  • @Stoneth Now I feel foolish.I never noticed in in the credits. I haven't seen "The Lion King" in a couple of years. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I guess I have to acquit Disney on this specific charge! (^_^)

  • loolz!

  • great memories - my Dad loved this too, and we always broke up when he'd imitate it

  • I just bought a Spike Jones cassette from an oportunity shop with all his hits and this is on it. I remember his stuff in the late 40's when I was a kid. Now a pro muso this stuff is very clever and very good. Great musical talent. Love it...makes me glad to be human.

  • 1:10-1:33 LOL

  • And now the rest of spike jones, where is it

    like Blue Danube

  • My dad used to sing A lot of Spike Jones and his "SPLIT HIS KNICKERS " to us lot when we were kids, he would have us in stitches with laughing....such a long long time ago...thanks for sharing....

  • @chalyminx My Dad, too. "Cocktails for Two" ;) My dad also enjoyed Mickey Katz.

  • When I was younger I used to be able to imitate most of these crazy sounds. Now if I try it feels like my tounge is gonna fall out. The 2:04 was my favorite.

  • When I was a kid my dad had this record and my brother sister and I would dance around like idiots listening to this song. Thanks for the memories

  • I used to have this record! I loved Spike Jones as a kid.

  • if you play it backwards you hear secret messages like "areee you achin' yup yup yup, for some bacon, yup yup yup"

  • Yeah right! Spike Jones was a covert CIA operative sending secret hypotic subliminal messages to children which is only now manifesting in us oldies, hence the surge in dirty old men thinking lecherous thoughts and perving on the lovely young things that cannot be ignored. Ba da boom! Ba da bing!

  • Thanks for sharing this tune.

    Eric - Studio ChinChan

  • My dad died in 69. He loved spike jones and had several of his albums. Thanks for the memories!

  • Sorry to hear about your dad.

  • He died 3 decades ago. I think he's moved on by now!

  • who compland.let me guess someone from a nother country

  • Spike Jones makes me smile everytime I hear him. Even though I wasn't around when he was on tv.

  • oh mi god, wonderful I love it, I lost it, but I forgot never it, thanks, thanks, many thanks!!!!

  • i wuv spike jones

  • how is he doing that weard sounds?? lol!

  • Great record but that 'record player' is oh so horribly modern...lol!

  • i really love this song and it being on a scratchy 78 i love it even more there is nothing like that sweet staticy scratchy sound i love

  • Great, of course. Like most Spike Jones send up (that I know of so far), there are

original or "straight" versions, you may want to listen to, to get the context, which always preceeded a Spike Jones mock up, such the 1938 version of Hawaiian Chart by Rudy Vallee & His Connecticut Yankees, possibly the best of the straight versions. You may want to check that one out - and of this writing, you can find it here on the Tube, too.

  • Brilliant!!

  • LOL... I just played this vid and my wife looked at me across the room like I'd lost my mind. EXCELLENT!!! There will never be another like Spike Jones...

  • @bps3013 LOL, I'm getting that look right now xD

  • Not until Your boat has sunk into the west

  • I live in Washington and you'll receive no arguement from me. Aloha!

  • I knew some moke would come on here and complain. Just STFU.

  • Ich wollte immer schon nach Hawaii - schade, daß Spikes nicht mehr da ist :-D

  • Has anyone ever heard "I Luv Wabbits"?

I'm not sure this was ever officially released.

  • Away away ah - Hubba hubba hubba!

  • i cant take the way he sings, but i love to hear him talk

  • Well someone didn't get the reference, judging by the thumbs down. Cripple Creek?

  • Yep. : D

  • Oh lord---ROFL!

  • i LOVE this song! my grandpa has this :)

  • Nice turntable

  • Wow this is priceless. THis is the kind of music used in the OLD, (worthwhile) MGM and MerrieMelodie cartoons!!

    Thanks for uploading

  • Great music 5*****

  • What a gem....I laughed so hard I almost choked on my mai tai! Spike Jones & his team sure knew how to get wacky and "go native" in a GREAT big way!

  • "As the Sun pulls away from the shore, and our boat sinks slowly in the West...."

Says it all, here. Absurdity for its own sake.

  • To you, maybe. But this, with its sound-effects and weird noises, etc., was wacky for its day -- when "novelty" records were rare and WWII, etc., was making folks happy to have some silliness. It also satirized the popular song it's based on -- Hawaiian War Chant -- and, unfortunately, also probably denigrated native Hawaiians -- at least, if you look at it from today's perspective. But it also was an evolutionary step towards today's cartoons and media.

  • 'probably denigrated native Hawaiians"

only if you want to be very po-faced about it

  • and brilliant Jazz

  • That's the common version - there's a rare one out there with guy guy that yells HALROONEY!

  • Reminds me of Bugs Bunny...."eena OOH!"

  • Ahhhh... it has that tranquil island feel, doesn't it?

  • hahahahahahahahha great music !!!!

  • funny for even today!

  • My dad introduced me to Spike Jones when I was a kid and we listened together and laughed together. Some rare, good moments with a Depression Era dad.

  • Lol haha this is really giving away my age but i rolled out of my crib with Spike Jones. I'm so grateful my Mom and Dad was open to all music. Thanks for these postings

  • Just great.

  • god, this is hilarious and I have no idea why.

  • GS336. That's the best kind of hilarious, ain't it? :D

  • Awesome!

  • I have this song on an original 78 RPM, along with a few others, which were my great grandma Burke's. I also have a working Victrola Model 2 to play them on (but I use a 60's era record player instead, as it is not quite as harmful to my 200+ 78's).

Spike Jones is a part of the music of my life.

"Ugga, ugga, boo, ugga, boo boo, ugga)

  • Because you can't have one without the other!!! Go Blue!!!

  • When you think you have a problem, just listen to this and you will forget all the problems you ever had. This is quite a "healer"!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unrivalled!

  • if only they had music like this today

  • My grandfather played me his vinyl copy of this the other day. We were in stiches!

  • i have some high audio quality spike jones songs on my profile (some of witch are new to youtube)

  • The gargling and glug effects are a collective hoot! That takes tremendous talent and a lot of practice. you don't believe me? Try it!

  • Vocal effects provided by Carl Grayson (including the opening narration).

  • as the sun pulls away from the shore, and our boat sinks slowly in the west...

  • Wonderful!!! If only someone would post his "Bugler's Holiday" . . .

  • can sombody post down in jungle town please

  • This is vaudeville at its best. No doubt about it. Thanks for the fun.

  • Top stuff, well done!!

  • Definitely EPIC, greatest musician...EVER...

  • WOOT WOOT WHOOO HOOOO
