@wildman00sax If he is runnign a 160* T stat the needle would go to the 1/4 mark on the gauge. You gotta be careful with 160* T stats too because the knock sensors don't activate until the coolant temp is past 160*. I've heard stories abut guys popin pistons because of it.

@Vettedragn Glad to hear you still have the car. Sorry to hear though about the transmission. Remember that I had the transmission done by ZZP. That transmission didn't have the 1" GM chain, so something tells me once you do work on the transmission to go ahead and add the 1" GM chain. I don't think its sold anymore so you'll have to buy it from someone used on the forums. Get some new videos up!
Gotta love automatics and turbo'd engines not originally designed for it. In boost when you punch the pedal and you stay there smoothly. I've got an L67 supercharged, cammed, P&P intake and charger, ZZP headers, 3" downpipe, K&N intake, tuned motor and adjusted tranny, running the Thrasher 3.4 modular pulley (3.25 is in the drawer, waiting to get an intercooler) and I thought it was good. Now I know better...

@ThriftyCougar I'm the same person, that's my old account. Turbos and superchargers do things differently. Turbos are more fuel efficient but you run the risk of more damage to the engine if you over boost. I run 10 psi with the 'charger I have and the 3.4 pulley and no risk to boost creep or spike. However, I use a lot more fuel and there is the parasitic power lag that is inherent with 'chargers. Turbos are certainly good, you just have to mod more carefully.
i love gtps. my dad has one and he went 180 miles per hour(265kmh).if ur wondereing how that is possible is because if u look at the top speed of a gtp it shows 150 miles(240kmh). the meter stops moving, but the speed is acutually getting higher me and my dad tested it on a highway and it was FAST!
I would think the tranny would still be holding up. Before I sold it to him I had a brand new ZZP tranny put in. The only thing I would've done was switch to a 1" GM chain, but it has a 15/16th.

I think it was within the first year that I had it the trans made a grinding noise and the tach was jumping on it one night. I parked it cause I didnt want anymore damage before I could disassemble it and see what was up. I went back to working on my other GTP and got it going. The turbo car is up on my lift right now and I am getting ready to take it apart. I will be adding some trans and eng mods

it really depends on the tune and what octane gas he is running. below 10:1 would be way too rich and in danger of bore wash. mid 10's isnt uncommon on FI cars running pump gas to cool down the charge air. technically max torque could be had at mid 12's as long as knock could be kept at bay. mid 12's yeilds the highest flame front speed, but timing advance will have to be optimized to have the bulk of that combustion even happen around 15 crank degrees after top dead center to yield best torque.

Its running the Cartuning kit with the upgraded turbo. Its a Precision PT-61, ported exhaust manifolds, electric dump, VS Cam, LS6 Springs, etc etc. That use to be my GTP then I sold it to him. Wish he'd post a few more photos. I miss that thing.
Temp gauge broke or are you running it not warmed up yet? That's one bad ass GTP!

I would think the tranny would still be holding up. Before I sold it to him I had a brand new ZZP tranny put in. The only thing I would've done was switch to a 1" GM chain, but it has a 15/16th.
