  • fuck you fagooooot

  • You need to stick to the subject at hand, and not bring all sorts of other issues into the presentation. Discuss other items separately.

  • retard this guy looks soo creepy idk why ppl are watching his videos he doesn't even know what he is talking about.

My cousin is 14 and has bigger arms and a stronger neck then he does looool

  • is there a way i could mask the ip address that is coming off of my WiFi Stick?

  • USB wifi? Never my exotic friend!

  • my cousin had a linksys usb adapter and it got way to hot and disconnected all the time. i will always reccomend an internal card because of this. another thing is that computers sometimes have a limited number of usb ports. while this is true for pci slots, how often do you need to put something in a pci slot? and in the case of laptops, most of them either have a wireless card installed, or an empty mini-pci slot.

  • ultimate r-tard :-3

  • This guy looks like he gets so much pussy :P

  • how long range does USB have ? i have already tested a wlan pci thingy, damn shit wont work although i installed all kinds of drivers including the one that came with it

  • This Guy is Egoistic

  • I'm using a PCI card right now and i have never had a problem, usb wifi is crap. because the usb port only allows a set amount of transfer speed...

  • ffaaaaaghoot

  • your videos are a waste of our time,

  • dont forget that USB device are not heavy duty as pci card.

what i mean is i had usb wifi burned for long hour usage.

    it became hot /overheated.

    i chooose pci.

  • Tested Conceptronic 300n PCI and 300n USB WiFi cards, both worked with identical preformance.

  • I'm sorry but you're wrong. PCI is sooooooooooooooo much faster. Also if your going to need to connect to wireless networks everywhere you go then you get a laptop (you can't carry around a desktop), and almost all laptops have built in wifi nowadays. PCI is for a desktop, and dongle for laptop (assuming you need one)

  • lol 2007 nerd

  • i know this sounds dumb but am i understanding this right? if you plug in a usb wi fi stick in you will connect to your wi fi router?

  • sub four sub

  • I think the question was more implying which would run better rather than which is more convenient. Sure the usb adapters are nice and easily installed, but you're basically buying a temporary wifi. At most you'll get a year out of them (if that), and then they usually start failing.

  • u are a total moron !

  • ChrisPirillo sure likes to hear himself talk. Sheesh.

There's some good information if you have the time and patience to get through all the blabbering.

  • my pc is not wifi enabled,if i buy the usb stick do i need to buy a wifi router?.or just merely the usb adapter?

  • PCI has much faster transfer rates. That's why there are no USB GPU's.

  • USB GPU 4 Life! <3

  • I think this idiot totally missed the point. I understand that 99.99% of the laptop nowadays have wifi built in, so the question was most likely referring to a scenario where he have a desktop machine (without a wifi card) and he's in some place like a dorm where there's only wifi offered. PCI is a wayyy better choice in this case as it connects directly to the circuitry of the motherboard, also a USB dongle is much less stable to run extensively, at least for the wireless functions.

  • Attention people. This man in the video is talking about a LAPTOP. If you have a DESKTOP and are deciding on either a USB card or a PCI wireless card. Always go with the PCI wireless card. A USB port is slower, and tends to drop connection. The PCI wireless card will ensure you faster and better connection every time for a desktop.

  • is there wifi software that u can download.

  • @pookieslim Just drivers to the hardware. you need to have an wifi recever and a router that sends out wifi signals. Otherwise you can't use wifi.

    So...

You'll need A Router that supports/sends wifi A Recever, USB or PCI card.

(you can find both in a computer store)

  • That was refreshing, I have not seen Chris Pirillo since they turned nerd TV into dumbass TV over at G4.

What I was looking for was information regarding windoze7 failure to operate with a NetGear WM311.v2 802.11g PCI card on a desktop. I had used it severely for years. Then recieved an HP desktop the other day as a gift. It has Win7 on it. And the netgear card is recognised as something non specific and driver install falls on its face. Looking for review of what works.

  • I hate this prick, he's so annoying!!

  • Then don't watch him.

Simple as that, don't bitch and moan.

  • My USB 802.11 stick has served me well.

  • so would a USB adapter generally have better signal reception than an internal PCI?

  • can't a stick be plugged in a computer and other portable devices use the wifi?

  • i don't think its shut out and shout " i allready gooot wiiifiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" but its not nessesary but it will work

  • pci cards are faster !!!!!!!!! i have tried both the usb always fal out and los signal but the pci keps the signal for years

  • Not exactly faster but in terms of stability they are so much better. USBs just keep overheating and therefore loose connection which is such a pain if you're downloading something. You then have to cool it down or do something like have an ice pack hanging over it..............

  • yes pci is faster than usb do pci cards would preform much faster

  • Nope you've got that wrong. USB 2.0 has a rough data transfer rate of 60 MB/s while the PCI has 133 MB/s.................BUT you'll never really get that much data transfer through a wireless router.

The fastest I know of currently is 300Megabits per second

So in terms of speed performance in realistic terms, they're the same! PCI cards WOULDN'T perform much faster.

  • yes your inthernet would be exaxtly the same but

if you have lan cause lan can transfer up tp 1000mb per second that would be 1 gig so the usb cant cep up at all

  • How does a wireless adapter have anything to do with LAN? Also, 1GB per sec is unrealistic. The wireless transfer rate has a limit and it cannot go over lets say 500MEGABITS per second.

PS. what do you mean by LAN? The cable? Then what has a wireless adpator have anything to do with the speed?

  • usb stick

  • dam u have alot of vids

  • chris currently almost everey laptop have a pcmcia or pcimia express or pci express (yes for some reson there are three types newest to oldest) and it can boost the laptop wifi power dramaticly and also the range (sorry i know your not a laptop proffisannel)

  • I have seen many USB wifi sticks and most people including myself have had bad experiences with them. The certain ones have negatively effected XP, even with the correct updated drivers.

  • Can you get wireless internet on a desktop computer, using the wifi stick if you don't have a wireless internet card installed on the computer?

  • does the stick receive wifi?

  • i have both and prefer the pci card for the fact the usb is prone to breakage when you pick up or move the laptop

  • No new info whatsoever.

  • This guy scared that old man into breaking his Victrola disk on Tech TV.

  • I used on this PC a D-Link G122 802.11g FW 3.00

is very good range with my NETGEAR WGR614 v7

    I recomend USB from D-Link!!!!

  • Very informative. Thank you.

  • whats wrong with a mini pci... most newer .. newer = anything from say 1999 till now? laptops that come with wireless or not have a mini pci slot, right?......sure its easyer to go usb but then ur knocking ur usb into shit if its a laptop..

  • The slot you're referring to as a 'mini pci' slot is most likely a PCMCIA slot on the side, usually close to the monitor.

This is a different connection and should not be confused.

  • u need a psy....

  • if i get a usb 1 will it transmit so that say nintendo ds's will be able to go on wifi useing that

  • Do I need to have a router or a phone line to connect the usb stick or pci card to the internet? I want complete freedom from phone lines and I though either pci or usb would be the answer to my prayers.

  • Yes you do need a router and a phone line to connect the router 2. You can buy a pci or usb reciver but without a router you will find no networks, unless there is a hot spot near by, but its illigel to a nabours wifi signel

  • it all depends on your brand stay a way from UBS sticks made by Belkin and D-link they are no good but the USB sticks from Linksys worked for me but i got a PCI card just so i could get better signal

  • wow

  • the second thing is the tx power of the wifi cards is always superior to usb sticks giving you better range with a good antenna, if the cost and portability are not problems for you , go for cards

  • i have zydas chipset usb wireless adaptor using dual boot (ubuntu Edgy& XP) laptop, i have put it in focus of a parabolic mesh reflector , i have got a good signal 5Mb over about 700 meter, But it is not heavy duty , specially when you uploading data of huge amounts, it stops working after a while, with tx power problem noted in the /var/log/message

under xp it stops working also while uploading data like in p2p applications.

  • I need to find a cheap usb wifi stick for my ubuntu system that I might give away

  • i hv a usb thing its pretty good

  • yea usb is beta more compact you can take it every were and you can make a usb parabolic dish to increase your reception

  • and what about PERFORMANCE ?!

  • Speak about money in the drew :P

  • and USB wifi adapters on laptops, i have had no ends of problems with the amount of power they need, running on battery only......is a nightmare, with 2 different brands and different software running it bought a PCmcia and have not had a problem since

  • i have a USB stick tv tuner, they SUCK ASS!

  • USB Dongles are really god awful, PCI is much more better and easier to configure and.

  • that depends. PCI for stability, USB for mobility, flexibiliy and signal (they're ones with moveable antena)

  • Was he talking about PCI vs. USB or was he more talking about PCMCIA card vs. USB?

There's a TV tuner in a USB stick? Two questions:

    1.) How much?

2.) Does it require a separate antenna like those old-school telescoping "rabbit ears?"

  • PCI vs USB

  • Well I knew Chris was talking about pci/usb but the question was really to chris to make sure he knew what the asker was really questioning.
