I've never watched a video that was even a half-our long on Youtube, but for some reason I find videos like this very interesting. As my interest for Islam grows, my patience also grows.

I'm in Christian Seminary. The App. District School of Ministry in West Va. Top Assemblies of God ministry school in the Country. My story seems to be close to this man. I'm still confused though. I have lost my desire to preach and find myself defending Islam more and more. Especially within the ministry. So many ministers say things I know Muslims don't believe. It breaks my heart.

It is the first time I see and hear such a deep account of a conversion to Islam. I am myself an "atypical Christian"- and right now very much "tempted" to follow Dr.Dirk's step - but cultural identity is not nothing....
I've been in your situation and I too had feelings pushing me towards Islam and Thank God I took that step and it is without a shadow of a doubt the best thing I've done in my life. Life itself now makes sense. I pray you make that step too.
@sartoriusful Salams brother/sister....you dont need to reveal your beliefs to your family /relatives if it will cause you issues...being muslim can be skin deep and practiced in private. There are plenty of islamic organisations that can provide you with the support that you need if thats the path you choose to follow. May Allah guide you and reward you for your struggle.

I grew up as a Christian, but I always felt that there is only 1 God and as a child the concept of accepting Jesus as divine was always alien to me. However I always explored my Christianity and my faith in accordance to what it meant to me, and now I feel my spiritual journey has directed me to Islam. I feel that the legitimacy of the Quran to be the truth.
I think its a situation that I have always been a Muslim in my beliefs, but I wasnt ready to see it until God showed me.

To RaunchyLarry: I forgot to mention, regarding interpretation or 'tafsir' of the Qur'an, the Prophet (pbuh) relayed the tafsir to his companions who then relayed it to the next generation. The next few generations documented this tafsir, so differing tafsirs contradict the Messenger's tafsir, thus contradicting the pure message of Islam. God, All-Mighty mentioned in His Book there is only one path that will be accepted and that is by following the Messenger, which is the reason why he was sent.

Regarding differences: If you differ in anything among yourselves refer it to Allah and His Messenger if you believe in Allah and the Last Day, that is more better and more suitable for final determination. [Surah al-Nisaa' 4:59]

Many paths to God would negate the message of God, All-Mighty in the Qur'an:

Qu'ran is a recital, the practice comes from following the guide, the teacher the one who implemented the laws of God on earth and thus we follow the Sunnah.
There are Quranic verses that clearly describe Hijab (Islamic veil). Please read Surah Ahzab (chapter 33, verse 60). Also, Surah Nur (chapter 24, verses 31 and 32). However, there are some traditions practised by some muslims that have no root in Quran, Hadith or Sunnah (practice of holy prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Such kind of practices are termed as 'Biddat' by the holy prophet (pbuh) which means inclusion of a novel thing in Islam which is strictly prohibited.

Islamic tradition of HIjab is included in the Quran, Verse 59 of Surah Al-Ahzaab reads: "O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when outside).
Firstly the the term hijab in arabic means 'cover/covering', headscarf in arabic is 'khimar, 'jilbab' = long flowy outer garment etc.... The order of the hijab is in the Qur'an:
And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts from sin and not show of their adornment except only that which is apparent, and draw their headcovers over their necks and bosom....[An-Nur, 24:31]
Well, depends on what you're referring to. e.g - there are verses that point to Hijab . See this one for example - [The Noble Qur'an - An-Nur 24:30].....Also There are some traditions that are more cultural, rather than Islamic. Like wearing white thobes, clothes etc; which Muslims follow bcoz it's Sunnah or doings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH);now dis is not a must or something dat you have got to follow and it is a tradition. But on the contrary, Hijab is a commandment, rather than a tradition.

O people of the Scripture (Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. I grew up as a Christian, but I always felt that there is only 1 God and as a child the concept of accepting Jesus as divine was always alien to me. However I always explored my Christianity and my faith in accordance to what it meant to me, and now I feel my spiritual journey has directed me to Islam. I feel that the legitimacy of the Quran to be the truth.
I think its a situation that I have always been a Muslim in my beliefs, but I wasnt ready to see it until God showed me.

To RaunchyLarry: I forgot to mention, regarding interpretation or 'tafsir' of the Qur'an, the Prophet (pbuh) relayed the tafsir to his companions who then relayed it to the next generation. The next few generations documented this tafsir, so differing tafsirs contradict the Messenger's tafsir, thus contradicting the pure message of Islam. God, All-Mighty mentioned in His Book there is only one path that will be accepted and that is by following the Messenger, which is the reason why he was sent.

Regarding differences: If you differ in anything among yourselves refer it to Allah and His Messenger if you believe in Allah and the Last Day, that is more better and more suitable for final determination. [Surah al-Nisaa' 4:59]

Many paths to God would negate the message of God, All-Mighty in the Qur'an:
And whoever contends with and contradicts the Messenger after guidance has been clearly conveyed to him and chooses a path other than that of the Faithful Believers, We shall leave him in the Path he has chosen and land him in Hell, what an evil refuge! [Surah al-Nisaa' 4:115]

Qu'ran is a recital, the practice comes from following the guide, the teacher the one who implemented the laws of God on earth and thus we follow the Sunnah.

There are Quranic verses that clearly describe Hijab (Islamic veil). Please read Surah Ahzab (chapter 33, verse 60). Also, Surah Nur (chapter 24, verses 31 and 32). However, there are some traditions practised by some muslims that have no root in Quran, Hadith or Sunnah (practice of holy prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Such kind of practices are termed as 'Biddat' by the holy prophet (pbuh) which means inclusion of a novel thing in Islam which is strictly prohibited.

Islamic tradition of HIjab is included in the Quran, Verse 59 of Surah Al-Ahzaab reads: "O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when outside).

Firstly the the term hijab in arabic means 'cover/covering', headscarf in arabic is 'khimar, 'jilbab' = long flowy outer garment etc.... The order of the hijab is in the Qur'an:
And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts from sin and not show of their adornment except only that which is apparent, and draw their headcovers over their necks and bosom....[An-Nur, 24:31]

Well, depends on what you're referring to. e.g - there are verses that point to Hijab . See this one for example - [The Noble Qur'an - An-Nur 24:30].....Also There are some traditions that are more cultural, rather than Islamic. Like wearing white thobes, clothes etc; which Muslims follow bcoz it's Sunnah or doings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH);now dis is not a must or something dat you have got to follow and it is a tradition. But on the contrary, Hijab is a commandment, rather than a tradition.
