Hey man, can you explain to me the hungarian clean progression? Does it actually develop strength for your hang clean or is it better suited for hammer throwers/shot putters? Should I just stick to a standard hang clean/front squat progression if optimal explosiveness is my goal our could this be something to drastically alter my workout and promote gains a la muscle confusion
you should be doing the full motion then half assing it because you are not doing a lift. you are pulling it half way and stopping. technically you got 1 for each set..
@TRNJAIRSOFT You comment demonstrates that you have no idea what a Hungarian hang clean is... This is a specific strength lift for hammer throwers, not competitive weight lifters. I have cleaned 435lbs with "correct form"
this is really cool ive never seen this it looks like its really training explosive power. i wonder if it would help me get my power clean up i used to use straps but went away from it because i felt like i was bouncing the bar to much off my legs..how would u recommended controlling the bar like how u are doing so that i am not bouncing the bar...check my videos of cleans

LB/RB have around a 4.9 40 bench around 200 no idea about squat. and whenever im in the weight room all the football coaches are looking at hang clean. they really emphesize getting your elbows up when u clean it up, but i cant seem to do it, it just seems like im not flexible enough. im wondering how i can get more flexible.... in my arms? is it alright if i keep my elbows down?
@Craigster45 The key is to not death grip the bar when it is approaching your shoulders. Nobody it strong enough to lift the weight that high with your arms anyway. Once the bar is at chest level, if you are still pulling up with your arms, it should be to pull your body down under the bar, not to lift the bar. When you physically catch the bar, you can allow it to roll out of your hands slightly, out so about your middle knuckle. The bar should land on your shoulders and nothing else.
@delmole85 The thing is I can get weight up there I just can't drop under it. I can only clean like 190 and I'm 16 6'6" 300 pounds. Any advice on how to drop under it?
@Rew1144 I would recommend doing some deep front squats to get use to being in a low position with a lot of weight. The front squat is a much more athletic lift than a back squat. Also, start watching video of Olympians training. The lift I am doing in the the video is not the same as a standard clean and is not a good reference. It is more of a sport specific lift. Honestly, practicing and getting use to front squatting a lot is the best thing to do right now in order to get better
@jassimlol I'm not sure what you are asking, but I would avoid this type of training at your age. I started at 20 years old. You have plenty of time to get strong. Good luck
First off, that's some ridiculous weight on those last sets, but I am just curious how this gym is almost 100% empty. If only I could find a paradise like that. Oh and the one arm ones, insane.
@TrackDaddy97 They are from Dominator Athletics. They have all kinds of different styles. The super heavy duty dual layer straps are enough for most very strong people. The ones i used in the video are the mega straps. They are sort of overkill though. I'm sure they are the most durable straps on the market though.
Straps??? No straps for cleans people. If you lose it the straps will snap your wrists.
