thanks for post favorite bassist of all time and ive admired many whether he's playing electirc thunder or acoustic thunder this has to be one of the best jazzfunk/fusion discs timeless
played this song ingressing to a target in a gunship..just made it that much better.played The Dancer egressing....Stanley was the Man on the bass....
I'm 54 now and got into this guy back in the 70' I used to play guitar in a band and our bass player used to try and copy his style lots of blood usually left on hi bass strings!!
The middle section is my favourite - sweet notes!
Great Jam. Too bad there are so many in the dark about music. The majority of younger people are programmed by main stream radio. Can't believe they never heard this. I always try to turn younger people on to all the various forms of jazz and let them decide for themselves What they've been missing. This just takes me back to some great times..
its just in 5ths. it starts With the notes A-E together (5th) Thats 7th and 9th fret, on the d and g string. once you have that it shouldn't be to hard to learn the rest. or just google it
The musicianship in this 1976 classic track is absolutely fantastic, the level of funk is ridiculous, God knows how bad I would've loved to see him and Jimi Hendrix collaborate, talk about a match made in heaven, bow down to Mr. Clarke, bow down!!
Stanley's from my hometown, PhilADELPHIA, PA. and when this song hit everyone was proud of him. Incidentally, his work with Return to Forever which featured Chick Corea was legendary.
I got my callouses from learning the solo.... Love this song as much as I did when I was a 17 year old girl.....and I still play....thanks

This album & 'Rocks Pebbles & Sand' really take me back to late 70's early 80's. No doubt about it, when it comes to the bass Stanley is 'The Man !'
