I ALWAYS use manual settings. It gives more control of the image, a word of advice for people here, DON'T MESS WITH THE IRIS! Keep it wide open so you will have a better DoF. Unless you NEED to use it don't.
But I thought the whole point of having a camera of this caliber was to use Manual settings for you video and audio set up,or you may as well have purchased a consumer level camcorder.
Hi there.... i want to know which connection to use When i want to record HD/SD and preview at the same time... i just can't test it in my situation....... and i know the 4pin firewire is delaying video.... and i use it to record video on my PC using On Location..... but i need to preview video on projector screen... or TV Display...... what would you recommend????????
Hi thx for these helpful tutorials. I´m a proud owner of this great camcorder.
Actually there´s a question about this uploaded video. What kind of settings did you use, for converting the video for youtube to get such an exellent quality?
I really dont like these people who say" im sorry for my bad english".
The english used is perfecly fine for me, so i assume that these people just want to hear how good they can actually write. Even if its bad, nobody cares as long as you can read it.
Thank god for this video. My ND filter was set to 1/32 and I haven't been able to film indoors for weeks haha!

Thanks, expertvillage, this was really useful for me as I'm just starting out in videography.
By the way, this cam was one of two which were recommended on a videography forum for professional use.
The other was the Sony Z1 or the Sony EX1, which is supposed to be better than the Z1 (haven't researched either yet.)

I think the ex1 is better than the Z1 and the z1 is a little better than the XH A1 from what I've heard

well, this isn't exactly a professional camera, but a "prosumer" one. Anyway, you're right.
