I have to say i have paused the video the type this comment, i have picked my favorite already. Jose, the juxtaposition of hit phot is amazing. The fact that a homeless guy is sat outside a property development company, with the main part of the advertisement being that someone can move in "NOW" is such a strong message to me in this photo. I am intrigued to see what the judges say.

I think Hessel's photograph of the projectionist is the best. Not only in subject but in tone.

Its all well and good taking photos of a protest, but in the end you have very little control over very much.

Its harder to choose a subject and to take good photos of that subject.

You are the one creating the moments, rather then capturing them.

The trend of having two judges together judging the pics is somewhat wrong.

Both the judges should be shown the pics at different places , so the judgement of one is not affecting the other's.Or rather, have a single judge.

In the video above, both the judges had almost same judgement on all the pics, which is impossible(its art).

I found some pics to be good, though both the judges felt them like shit.

Reportage doesn't equal photojournalism. Taking a picture of a fire, homeless people and so on is not a reportage. The super 35mm-idea was great, because that's a true reportage. You read up on the subject, you spend time with someone and get to know the world you want to photograph...

@tomduff89 I know what you mean. But I feel like it's getting overdone nowadays. And lots of photographers just convert a photo to b&w just to hide the bad lighting which to me feels like cheating. Colour photos have lots of additional components like colors, contrast of colors, lighting which i find more attractive. It's just my personal opinion.

I used to love digitalrev for its lets just say different approach to reviews and I quite liked the not so serious approach to the "internet's most talented photographer". But the more the contest progresses the less I enjoy watching it. the "judges" should not only degrade pictures "iffy" "wtf" and so on, but should give constructive criticism. this way anyone watching the series would benefit from it... I hope the next episode will be better...

And what good would giving constructive criticism do at this point do anyway? It's not like there will be a do over. The judges explaining what they didn't like should be constructive enough for anyone listening.

These pictures where pretty bad in comparison to their older photos... Photojournalism to most is simply capturing a moment that tells a story... None of the photos this round do that... But to be fair photojournalism is HARD especially while on a deadline sometimes u just don't get that moment so there's really nothing to capture...

I find it interesting how, although the judges have a far greater technical skill than I do, I tend to have noticed the elements that they criticise in the photos.

(e.g. The bloke in white in the firefighter photo)
