  • wtf

  • there`s a better one 9.2 :D 2 subwoofers found it on LG

  • wounldt be cool to have another one on the back?

    That would be 8.1 :D

  • The audio engineers (from what I've read) still generally design movies to use 5.1 audio. The extra two channels are not as discreet as DTS would have you think. Now, it *could* see a benefit for video games, since each voice could come from a unique location and actually would be properly mixed, but 7.1 gives rather little for movies.

  • @nateabby are you 8 years old?

  • 7.1 surround sound with 240p hmm perfect for my grandpa he cant see but hes got ears of those school teachers

  • Now where is a 3D TV?

  • WOOW so you added tw more speakers big deal i mean ofcourse 7 will be better than 5 i dnt have any i use my tvs built in sund and im happy no 7 speakers taking up space!

  • @techbeater are you 15 yrs old?

  • its better because it has 2 more speakers thats logical!!!!

  • lmau to this shit

  • Watch this in fullscreen for full effect...

  • @TheSwedishSvensken Thanks, looks fabulous on 2560x1600 playback

  • This advertisement must of been for the blind?

  • 7.1 is old news who hasn't had this for at least a decade. Its about about 8.8 or 12.12 Snell THX reference surround speakers encoded by Theta Digital processors :)

  • @DoNultima I realize you were joking but you realize that would mean 8 speakers and 8 subwoofers. hahaha try 9.1 or 11.1 or 13.1 people might believe you. Then again people might have believed this... people aren't very bright.

  • @L3G3NDARYK1LL3R

I was joking, but its actually be done. Google "Kipnis Studio Standard" He's enocded a 12.12 channel Snell THX reference speaker system. 12.12

  • @DoNultima Holy crap! haha

  • @L3G3NDARYK1LL3R

I know lol, its pretty damn sick :o He originally bought an 8.8 channel system, but didn't feel like 8 Snell 1800 (18") sub woofers produced enough "earth shattering" bass compared to the Snell THX Reference towers, so he ended up with 13 speakers and 16 subwoofers.. But the processors/receivers can only encode to 12.12 And here I thought my 7.1 B&W/KEF system was special :P

  • @DoNultima

Pfft, how about the NHK 22.2?

    ;-)

  • how ironic that this is in 240p

  • This was back in jan 2007.......

  • 10.2 is better than 7.1 Channel Surround Sound

  • just got surround sound :)

  • They speaks about HD Sound and HD but ist in 240p -.-

  • 7.1's great, but in 1080p it's better :D

  • pixels! :P

  • 8D GREAT VIDEO! I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO COUNT EACH PIXEL!

  • all it took was 2 more speakers:)

  • 7.1 surround just gives 5.1 surround for two people, or people with large/odd shaped rooms? I don't see how it's better :S

  • Dolby sound sucks compare to DTS any one agree with me

  • @CaptainViral84 I always look for films with DTS it sounds clearer.

  • make 2 more channels, and another channel for subwoofer, face both of them in the same corner = :)))))))))))!

  • My 2 speaker 5.1 simulates it.. it actualy sends a sound i cannot hear that bounces off a wall and when it hits me from behind i hear it. That's the prototype i got from my friend who works at tech store, it's not supposed to be out for another year or so.

  • companies are now making prototypes of 7.1 surround sound with only 2 high end speakers

  • 240p should b banned!

  • 7.1 is great....you know what else is great, if it was real? is if anyone made anything in 7.1. if you get 7.1 for free, fine but i wouldn't waste the money. 5.1 is all you need. unless you make your own music and put it in 7.1, which i haven't seen either.

  • 7.1 will die soon! Dont waste your money!

  • @ihatehavingausername

The Onkyo receivers have 7.2 AND Audyssey MultiEQ as well as THX certified. They also up-mix 2.0 and 5.1 to 7.1. Also you can buy dipole speakers which will fire in different directions that might help.

  • wuts next....360 degree speakers to match every angle?

  • 1990 tv with color. Its going to feel like your there.

2005 plasma tv no more fat tvs we make your room 2cm smaller...

2011 7.1 system feel like your there

2012 doomsday feel like your there

  • @chee006 Imagine actually getting laid :O!!

  • cool check mine out!!!

  • cant wait till they stick chip in our brains and will get 700.10 sound

  • funny thing is that this video is in 240p(one of the lowest resolution) lol

  • I've got a yamaha rx-v with dts-hd and for 7.1 channels it's great, realistic, the audio'snot all sentoutof one channel,it's split up. I keep mine of sci-fi cinema dsp

  • I love how this is in 240p

  • @swagbucksmaster360

they use toaster to film this thats why is in 240p

  • @swagbucksmaster360 I was just gonna say...hahah. Wow.

  • Ehh, soon they'll want us to cover all of our walls with 10 speakers each..

    "It's like you're really there!"

  • @TheeDrunkenMoose u should see my setup haha

  • ahaha so is better to have 7 ears than 5 only for listening some flashy hollywood/teenagers effects... I have only 2 ears so i stich with my stereo.

  • @chujarka02 are you serious?

I have a 7.2 setup it absolutely rocks! After you go Dolby Pro you'll never go back to stereo

  • Yep... I expected a spammy video and I got it! :> Well the standard for its self is really good but the most media don't support it so for now it's just a waste of money and nervs. For example listening an mp3 encoded audio would NOT provide you true surround experience

  • @TheHjullis the video was uploaded in 2007... Not a lot of options in uploading back then

  • 2012: Putting YOU in the action with our 69.1 surround system

  • Rofl, its kinda funny when someone is talking something bout "Full HD perfect sound surround" things, and the video is in 240p :P

  • why don't we surround with speackers? that way u can be sure the sound ''reach'' your a*s

  • That's bullzit and you know this :> The best encoding technology for now is STEREO with surround included in it. Multichannel audio have lots of issues and takes so much space but the experience is comparable with the stereo sound

  • wow I don't have light in my "alive" speakers ! (lol)

  • made me laugh SO hard that this vid is in 240p when she's talking about blu-ray and HD DVD

  • same thing was advertised regarding 5.1 channel surround

  • @chee006 porns are not recorded in 7.1 sound -.- max quad or 2.0

  • I have a 6.1 surround system and its better than 7.1

  • Why isn'T this fucking video in 7.1

  • @hardcoremusikfreak cause youtube doesnt support surround sound..

  • So instead of 5 speakers I now would need 7 to enjoy such quality.......bite my ass!

  • @Vyse500 Dont forget the sub!

  • I think it depends on the speakers that you have versus how many you have , you should have pretty good speakers or at least if you have older speaker trust that they will be pretty good to run DTS Master or Dolby True HD, i try my system when i get it up and running with my 5.1 then i will upgrade later but most of the sound is 5.1.

  • so is it 2 more discrete surround channels or an EX type matrix?

  • @nexgenhippy when playing 5.1 dvds or 5.1 blue rays it is matrix but if you play a 7.1 blue ray it is 2 discrete surround channels....I only have one blue ray that is 7.1 and it sounds real good ...but when playing 5.1 dvd or blue ray it does not sound any better than a 5.1 setup.

  • The cinema side of DTS is now Datasat Digital Entertainment! Same sound engineering and quality. They'll have a surround sound trailer soon in 2011.

  • The Ghost Writer

  • @ihatehavingausername Sorry that was my idiot friend. Yes i know what you are saying, but my friend that typed that comment has the brain of a lays potato chip. baked.

  • shit started with 2 channel now 5.1 holy shit its now they prolly got like 44.9 channel! they commin out with new shit everyday

  • i have 5.1 but when i heard 7.2 at a friend's place, i could discretely tell the difference with the DTS. about a year ago, 7.1 was rare to find. now we got a whole library of'em and some! i just don't know which ones to buy for use for a pc....

  • wow are all those speakers really needed? i mean if you ask me, 2 speakers and a sub is all that anyone really needs this is just ridiculouse

  • the guys that made this video spent all his money in a 7.1 surround system that they forgot to buy a good viedo editing programm!

  • I thought that the 7.1 systems don't support DTS. That they only support upscaled stereo?

  • @GoDxDeSiGNs pretty sure 7.1 is DTS master audio

  • i just got 7.1 surround sound headphones this is awesome :P

  • @einarknutsen headphones dude? fuckin seriously......

  • @krypekeeper what is so wrong with that?

  • @einarknutsen if you really think headphones can compare to a actual surround set up...then theres no hope

  • @krypekeeper i did not say that, ofcourse the set up is better but more expensive. and i just want a headset for gaming and stuff. :D

  • @einarknutsen k, off the subject of headphones, whats your speaker set up like

  • @krypekeeper i had a 5.1 surround sound, but then 1 of the speakers whent out so i got a normal logitech 2.1 speakers :D

  • @krypekeeper i got the Z2300

  • phss, HD!? Everyone knows that dolby pro logic sound from VHS tapes is really the only way to go. and let's not forget about Dolby B to reduce that tape hiss! You can have your LED TV's and HD sound codecs. I'm stickin' with the classics: a good ol' 70 lbs. Zenith 17" TV and 3 Sherwood bookshelf speakers hooked up to a 1980's Pioneer 2-Channel receiver with the 3rd speaker in the poor man's surround sound method sitting on a coffee table behind me! Inception on VHS at my house tonight!

  • Fucking brit twat.

  • they should make 7.1 porno movie :D

  • @Mihkellt you like dicks in your ears?

  • @Alisterhenry :D nope i didnt mean it like that.

  • Network has dolby and dts sound support it?

  • All these faggots and their 2.1 Logitech shit, trying to make themselves fell better.

  • why not just make a circular sphere speaker, and i'll just wear it like a helmet around my head plus a subwoofer, and name it 0.1 DTS Personal.........

  • this is all crap, try the 24.8.2 speakers.

  • Surround is for children.

  • @Dicalit Good man yourself -.-

  • Personally I have found that 7.1 Surround sounds suck if you don't put it in the correct spot. Same thing with 5.1 There's no point to invest in a set of 2 extra speakers if you don't know how to put them correctly too.

  • Pff, still using 7.1? Play with your primitive sound, I'll enjoy my 32.1 Surround Sound System. lolz

  • love to see and hear a 20.5 speaker system in a room as big as a jail cell with confined walles.... and no way of escaping, playing constant tunes and explosion blasts ;P

  • @BENBOOST9 i have 5.90. Just kidding

  • Nice video,But i must try listining to one to believe it ?

    Thanks,

    kris.

  • funny through the whole video it does not say why 7.1 is better

  • ı have z5500 :D very very good sound

  • lol. i got since 2005 7.1

  • @topagotpz LOL, yeah, same here. My reciever is ancient compared to what's out there, but I've been having 7.1 way before Blu-Ray and HD DVD's have been out.

  • @Kingnothing8585 That may be, but you were not getting discrete 7.1 channels

  • 5.1 is perfect man hahah...i get lost in my system...

  • try OVER9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! channels

  • @naka538 what!!!!!! 9000. that cant be right. lmao.

  • why 7.1 is better, because its a higher number than 5.1

  • @fagerbag if you where going for surround i think 5.1 is better, i mean you just dont need the other 2.. who gives a fuck if you always have the good spot :P i think 7.1 i just a big balls gimmick..

  • 7.1 LPCM 24/96 would be nice if the recordings were engineered properly to start with, Blu-Ray what a shame they dont use it to its full ability. Before you build the home cinema make sure you have the material..£350,000 on a system your going to put a £9:99p crap recording just because its blu-ray will not make it look or sound good.

  • i have got 4.1 yes 4.1 works good you dont really need teh 5th speaker

  • 5.1 and 7.1 are the same shit

  • It makes me laugh when she said "putting YOU in the action". That's what they said when widescreen and 5.1 in the home were new. They probably said it when stereo came and too. And colour! "It's like you're really there!" They always say it!

  • @Misterpew

    WIN

  • @Misterpew 11.1 is being produced, they'll say exactly the same thing again!

  • @Misterpew Well, it would have to work SOMETIME. Even if they start building 500.1 sound systems.

  • wow ... blurry as fuck

  • I have 9000.1 so suck on that

  • @LostTheGameXD so you're saying you have 9000 speakers with 1 subwoofer LOL

  • Making enterainment suck.

the extra 2 channels in 7.1 are always monoraul channels (both use the same channel) it's retarded.

  • Optical illusion company logo.

  • what about 45.78 world surround. i have it. its like an orgasm in my eardrum

  • you can not beat 5 speakers at the front and 5 speakers at the back and not forgetting 2 sub's all independent channels. 5.1 is so 1980s

  • i dont care if its 5.1 or 7.1 use headphones

  • Try omnipolar speakers

  • yeah or you and ur buddies just put on some good headphones and use virtual surround. you anly have 2 ears anyways, and since its known how your brain interprets sound it is possible to create the best surround effect using only 2 speakers. no need for more. =D

  • binds this new home theater 2010 SONY /watch?v=cxbgbjOM4lg

  • try §+999.22 5D Srround sound..

  • There are many reasons to stick to the 6.1 setup as well. Quite a few movies I have on DVD are in 3.0 or more exactly 2/1.0, which is stereo with a back centre. This also facilitates moving the surr speakers further back, which may help if your home cinema theatre is rather narrow as it is.

  • Your home theater surrond sound is only as good as the output source. How many DVDs or blu-rays are in 6.1 or 7.1 ? do a count and it is not worth going to 7.1 for now.If one finds a great deal on a 7.1 system then sure get it then your systems future proof but for my system it is 5.1 as i have over 150 movies and i can count on one hand those that are in 6.1 or 7.1.The norm right now is still 90% 5.1 decoding

  • i have 7.1 on my phone

  • 59.1 is the way to go homos

  • I Have 7.1 system in my home :))

  • @cdnml i have a 7.1 headset it rocks :)

  • There's nothing like really being there.

  • buy a giant sub woofer and live in it.

  • It's too bad they settled for 7.1 that's right; even though it sounds good; DTS master audio is capable technically of thousands or discrete channels; but BOTH blu ray and HDDVD limit it to 8 (7.1) oh well. anyone know of any formats planned to supercede blu ray?

  • 22.2 is the best {Source: Wikipedia}

  • @bvabhi Just don't buy 3 sets.

  • How many more speakers do we need?! ...5.1 enough for me.

  • try 538.1 surround never go back!!!

  • try a 9.1 youll never go back

  • plain old regular dts works great for my home theater too

  • meh, try finding a movie that says it has discrete 7.1 encoded. Calibrate your speaker levels and 5.1 is very impressive on it's own.

  • @ancientpimp

Yeah man I too have found that a well calibrated 5.1 setup is far superior to 7.1. Besides, to this very day there is nothing in 7.1 discrete anyway!

  • @ancientpimp i know one movie witch have real 7.1: million dollar baby

  • try 12.2 surround

  • Try 16.16, JVC low frequency sub/tweeters/speakers from 30hz- 20khz.... 16 speakers with 16 in built subs, MUDA FUDGASSSS

  • @coolkavi leave the crack alone

  • @TurKdiRty Hey tell me what you think of my set up /watch?v=MMBJdSeWPRE

and is 12.2 really worth it?

  • its for university, exploring technique for final project. i'm quite happy with stereo ;D

  • @TurKdiRty 12.12?

  • @TurKdiRty "12.2" How does that work? 2 Subs? And, I can't even imagine where you would put all those speakers.

  • @TurKdiRty 12.2 omg, is reall? i don't hear shit about any 12.2. but maybe exist

  • @Snsuzele its probablly possible you need 2-3 receivers

  • @fuge805 really? hmm i think it

  • @fuge805 Actually, there are 11 channel amps out there

you just have to make it 11.2 though.

  • Dolby TrueHD Supports 7.1, too!

  • (hehehe) YES.! I am 4_real (& with a truckload of verbal diahorrea to boot)

But somewhere inside my hitherto- apparently blind yabberings- some really DO see- the (actual) truth ...

Not just in my consistencies of statements

But in the visual aides- of my MANY videos.

Whereas way too "many" others- are just too stubbornly ignorant (& thus rather daft & or dumber than I)- to bother doing ANY looking- and will thus- never "ever" ? KNOW the actual truth- in my various ramblings

    ;-)

  • All i know surround sound helps when playin some games, crank the volume, and you can hear the enemy creep behind you either from the left or right :D

  • Is this guy below for real??

  • haha lol.

  • Oh... And as for "bringing effects to "life" - try this... A virtual .. sound surround stage - using JUST two old"broadcast radio STEREO FM channels .. but?

By transmitting wide mode "stereo" instead of just 120 deg phase split LF_RF with it's inherant "audio" HOLE (ah- that I call - the UNSWEET "spot")

  • @HomeTheaterGuy (being the usenamed@HomeTheaterGuy on youtube - as this auto retweets to twiiter as well)

What is ths "thing" you DIGITAL people keep calling - as the SWEET SPOT?

In TRUE (analogue) surround & not the ?similated (digital) effect - of CREATING a sound feild... THERE IS NO "such" audio beast - as a SWEET SPOT?

The "music" just comes - BACK OUT at all the positions - the the "original" On_Stage mic pickups "heard" the original - without sweet FA?

  • Wahoo - YOU are so ryt...

One deifintely NEEDS "grat" audio - to match? well even an old B & W TV set realy .. as without any audio - even HD colour.. is just another SILENT MOVIE eh?

SO... Why "just" 3.1 5.1 7.1 (or phase slpit... "series wired twin speakered surrounds - as NINE point one?

Why not 3 sub woofers ... electically DELAYED..& thus "sinosidually speakeing be "placed & maintained ELECTRICALLY "phased" - exactly 120_deg APART, & why only single digit chs

  • .....

try this for size... all you GAMERS out there...

A remastered sound track- from EA Games..."C&C" - Your Nightmare Begins...

The never before - unreleased version - as it was >>>??? JUST TOO REAL.

  • ok just to let yall know 5.1 is way to good already. u want to watch movies with good sound NOT analyzing.

  • How many speakers do you need in your living room? If your having 7.1 you may as well have one hanging from your ceiling and one under the sofa too! Yeah thats it 9.1. Na on second thoughts 5.1 is more than enough.

  • @jono069 To actually "have" a central roof positioned "hanging" speaker (as U so eloquently phrased that)

Then to get a centrally located Centre Tweeter, One needs the super ULTRA_SUB "impact" frequency shaker mounted under the centre of your flooring joists

& requires UTILISATION of the 10th central channel

    (Plus)

Am still not satisfied with my 38 speaker 8ch 2subs & single CENTRAL reverber.

I'm aiming at (140 spkrs) 25 chs (quintiple_X'overed) 13subs PLUS 1 Central reverb with tweeter

  • Why is the point having this or even 5.1 system when like 80-90% of the sound is played thru the center channel in mono anyway.

Good recorded stereo sound is often far better than most 5.1 or most likely even 7.1 "standard movie sound"

The reason you never get that "be there feeling" is the terrible audio mixing work - not the lack of channels

The execcive use of directional microphones is also a big problem because they work really bad att low frequencies.
