When I first saw this video, it didn't even click to me what it was about. Just that she had Chad in her video. I probably didn't notice it because I am in a interracial relationship and colour isn't an issue for us. I am Black Caribbean and my partner is Maltese. We have two children who will understand and appreciate both cultures. I don't want my children to say they are fully black because they are not. It is important for parents to educate their children of both sides if they are biracial.

@thexjokerx also i think its so disrepectful to have that kind of attitude, its disrespectful to martin luther king coz he wanted races to mix and get along, and i think that has been achieved (i know not everywhere coz i am aware that there are still racist people) and its showing disrepect to black people who went through so much bullshit back in that time and black people who wanted success, i mean, really you think they still go through that now??????? tbh i think its an excuse!

also i think black people are partially to blame for why racism is still in the world because they really drag on and on about the shit life black use to have and they still live in that bubble. i find when ever a white person is treating them the same black people completely reject them and think white people are "kissing their ass" or that their trying to be like them, when in fact that isnt the case, maybe they should open their eyes!

@tauro2 i think they only said that about president obama to make the headline seem much more dramatic, i dont think they were trying to deny the fact that part of his inheritence is white. And since when did alicia called herself black??? but i do see where you're coming from, mixed-raced artists make out they've had the "hard ghetto life" in their music videos when some have had a decent life, they jus dont like to show it.

@Mienoena i just think that shes proud of her black inheritance. Loads of black/mixed raced people are ashamed to be black/mixed raced because they desired to have white features (and not just black but chinese, indian etc..) it shocks me so much, im white and i think that all races are very beautiful in their own ways. So i think Alicia Keys wants to show that shes proud and doesnt want to change to make herself more appealing to the public or the media.

@ammasmum i totally agree with you coz when i was at school i found that alot of mixed raced people who called themselves black and completely denied their other side and some were actually racist so i think its really important for parents to do that not only parents with mixed race children but all parents should teach their children to appreciate different cultures and i think if they did that they would be alot less racism in the world.

When I first saw this video, it didn't even click to me what it was about. Just that she had Chad in her video. I probably didn't notice it because I am in a interracial relationship and colour isn't an issue for us. I am Black Caribbean and my partner is Maltese. We have two children who will understand and appreciate both cultures. I don't want my children to say they are fully black because they are not. It is important for parents to educate their children of both sides if they are biracial.
