  • I am working on a film for the 1940's census and this footage is perfect. Could we purchase rights to use this for an internet promo?

  • this is just wonderful. even this little snippet is precious! thank you to you and your father!

  • I have only ever seen still pictures of this - too bad - it was probably never recorded for record...which is a total shame! But this footage is amazing!

  • Extraordinary footage !!

  • I tried "1995 london cast hot mikado " etc but can't find the reference in itunes. Are there better search criteria or can you point me to it somehow- happy to add the music.

  • just type in hot mikado.

  • @doogie1136 Apparently the new Criterion BluRay release of the 1939 Mikado movie has broadcast excerpts from The Hot Mikado as a bonus. If you're still up for scoring your movie, it might be worth looking into. :)

  • where do i get a filmed copy? Which production is it? Please let me no! And this video is amazing! Could you put it with a song from the 1995 london production (the only cast recording) altough the modern production is not a revival of the production, as after this version the music was lost in the 1940's and so the creators of the morden version researched and tryd to replicate this production as much as possible but a new orchestration had to be made :(

    Great video!

  • I have searched for a downloadable copy of the 'hot mikado' version of music but can't find it, including your reference to the 1995 london production. If you have a source, let me know. This production was that presented at the World's Fair in New York City in 1939-1940 in the Entertainent zone of the fair. My father fimed it during one of the shows.

  • the 1995 london cast is on i tunes ! its amazing

  • and i think thats footage of whitey's lindy hoppers as well... quite a find!

  • wowzers, thanks for sharing this! rare footage indeed! that made my day!

  • Incredible

  • It's amazing that the colour is still so rich, and the images still quite sharp. What type of film was it?

  • I would have given anything to be at this show, but as it was done 12 years before I was born ... This makes you want the sound badly. But Hot Mikado has been recorded (not this production but present day), and I encourage everyone to find a copy. Lots of fun.

  • I have searched everywhere. Where do i find a copy of the hot mikado. please tell me if you know . Thanks :)

  • Very cool - or maybe that should be, very hot! This looks like it must have been a lot of fun.

  • sound?

  • unfortunately, no sound track 16mm silent movie
