  • Is there a timing thing to get down? A lot of the time when I do it Ness either jumps out of the grab or is too far away to be grabbed again once let go.

  • it is not able to be escaped -.- trust me...my friend used this on me...like,seriously!>.>it's a gay move right there...and I'm semi pro....so if there was any possible escape,I'm pretty sure I could get out of it but,>.> wow...really...this gay move...what the hell...

  • To escape it, try to SDI away from Marth. Or just not get grabbed in the first place. The reason why Marth can re-grab Ness/Lucas: Ness/Lucas has a 10-frame disadvantage when someone ground releases them. That basically means everybody can combo a fast move (jab) when you ground release Ness/Lucas. Marth has the 3rd largest grab range.

  • It's annoying, due to Lucas and Ness's release animation they can't escape it.

  • its escapeable , just have like a player two play then p2 sheild rolls away

  • And Lucas !

  • lol why didnt i see this till now

  • Comment removed

  • no creo que funcione, mas bien como estaba en opcion de atacar no retrocedia para usar un ataque en ves de ir hacia enfrente. ademas que pasaria si el enemigo decide no safarse, en algun momento lo sacas a volar

  • I will still promote the use of PSI.

  • @AwesomeZeldaGamer SEEMS LEGIT? this happened to me so many times I have like 10 replays of it on wifi. this chain grab is real.

  • Level 9 has perfect reaction? You must get your ass handed to you by the comp then.

  • @Tugnus No, you can still beat them; just have to be careful about overall strategy, and keep to being unpredictable.

  • what's with every ones nagging? damn.

  • smash brawl wasnt made with competitive prupose.

  • That is the only reason why Ness and Lucas are low on the tiers...other than that, Ness and lucas would be in at least top 15.

  • lmao

  • First of all, Melee isn't exactly balanced, given the fact that there are low and high tier characters in that game as well. A truly balanced fighter wouldn't even have a tier list; and every matchup would be even. Secondly, Marth's infinite grab release is banned in tournaments anyway.

  • hahahahahahahahaha XD i like this "technique" now

  • I once used Ganondorf against a CPU Wario, and it just kept on jumping every time I grab Wario. I stopped doing it after I got tired of it.

  • just jump out of it.

  • @whopperjunior197

    You can't.

After ness is releases, he's not in control for quite a bit. he can just be grabbed over and over again.

  • @sundowniseeu u can jump out of a grab. literally the marth has him grabbed and the ness doesnt touch the ground but jumps away.

  • @whopperjunior197

Thats only if he's air released. This is a pummel release. He's incapable of moving for a certain amount of frames, which just happen to be enough for marth to get a regrab. He cannot jump, spotdodge or dodgeroll quick enough to escape if marth buffers the grab out of a pummel on ness.

  • @sundowniseeu Yes, I get that. And to add to my last post, he can jump out of it only if the marth isn't hurting him. Ness can get out of it by jumping out of the grab, but thats only possible if the marth player isn't spamming the A button.

  • @whopperjunior197

    Duh.

So whats your point dood? The technique shown in the video cannot be jumped out of because he is getting hit. Its not hard to mash the A button....

  • @sundowniseeu well i agree with u. my point isnt infinite if u dont mash the a button which i agree is mashable

  • @whopperjunior197 sry i meant to say "my point is that it isnt infinite if...."

  • As a Ness main, it hurts me to watch.

  • Can u escape with DI??? ... cuz it seems like u can to me o.o

  • this is from 2008......

  • Using it more than 3 times in a row makes you a noob. I was facing a Marth (I'm a Lucas main) And hesc sucked so bad that was the only move he used on me. I still ended up winning cause i'm BADASS with Lucas.

  • brawl sucks

  • Marth is a born pedophile

  • I was expecting dolfin slash to finish, but I guess f-smash works to! XD

  • Only real men beat up a helpless child!

  • @xaddgx fuck yeah

  • You could have at-least sped up the fucking frame-rate while you were in the fucking training mode, asshole!

  • Melee is not balanced, but well... It's more balanced than Brawl thats true.

  • @TheMexicanasianboy7 Well, the title says it all. Marth doing an infinite grab on Ness. He did exactly what the title said. So, if you didn't want to see it, why did you click in it?

  • what i hate the most is the he/she spams then again anyone who spams

  • GRAB SPAM

    lol

  • Well for one that is pathetic two it's cheap three a human could escape that with one dodge roll ...

  • @dcom365

    No. You're wrong.

  • @soulscratcher No you truly can it's to easy.

  • @dcom365 Umm... No.

  • damn atleast you can tech away or DI away from marth's gay chain grabs in melee and hope of escaping. I see brawl doesn't do that.

  • If this also works on Lucas I'm never playing Marth again.

  • This is on a CPU, which you have set on "Attack". If you fought another person, he would be smart enough to go BACKWARDS to stop you from doing that, unlike the CPU that is set to "Attack" which will only go FORWARDS at you in order to hit you, therefor your move is null and voided in a player vs player match. GAME OVER!

  • @blazerghost12 you did see the cpu moved away right?

  • @blazerghost12

I hope you die brutally by this one day so you see that you're wrong.

  • @blazerghost12 therefor you seem to not realize that Ness doesn't have a window to react at all outside of DI, it's not about which direction the CPU moves because the CPU doesn't have any time whatsoever to move. By the time his animation is back to neutral, he's getting grabbed. GAME OVER!

  • @dhrachwal91 Funny that you talk about brain capacity when you don't seem to be able to read comments yourself ^^;;

  • @Tsuraga Well obviously he doesn't understand that Ness and Lucas's release animations have too much lag.

  • @dhrachwal91 It works on humans too. Ive done it a few times, messing around.

  • @dhrachwal91 Hey dick,

there's a reason MLG banned this:

    It is inescapable.

  • Marth:Wheres your big gay fire now huh

  • Hahaha! Nice dude! xD But Im not using Marth or ness. D:

  • as a Ness main, this makes me cry. Marth destroys dreams. D,:

  • just one thing, lvl 9 cpu are far from "perfect reaction"

  • Can't ness just jump out of it?

  • @MrChannelReview no because its a pummel release

theres pummel, ground and air releases

ground releases are when they're touching the ground during ur grab,

air releases are when they're held in the air during the grab, and pummel releases are when there'd normally be an air release, but hit pummel them right when they escape, ness and lucas have extremely long pummel release animations so u can do quick attacks to them during the animation, like regrabing,

  • this technique is

    A. DI-able

    B. banned.

  • do it again i didnt see it.

  • Meh, i like to brawl like a real brawler

  • Banned at MLG tournaments now, along with DDD's infinite.

  • No longer an infinite with extra inch DI. Just hold up and away on the control stick and flick the c-stick quickly in the same direction. You'll fall out of his grab range.

  • @Tsuraga CHILD MOLESTER!

  • @adamtotheextreme c-stick is for noobs

  • umm... dont wanna ruin ur hole vid here, but humans are normally abv lvl 9 ness' and i can guarentee you that if they would jus side step, or spam A they could def get out of that

  • @Neal7800 they cant, ness and lucas's pummel releases are a lot longer than other chars' so theres enough time to re-grab before they can move

  • Of course, even 9's have restraint. I see a frame in there that I'd probably be able to get out of it with.

As for everyone complaining about the game, just please, shut up? Yes, there's differences between Brawl and Melee. Get over it. If it bothers you so much why don't you just play Melee instead of complaining? Or you could always turn to BB, or B+. Just chill out. Nothing's getting done by complaining.

  • @Gamekid321 Change to BB or B+ ?? what do you mean? and how is it done ?

  • @kicker618 Balanced Brawl and Brawl+

Balanced Brawl removed infinites and buffed/nerfed most characters to be roughly on the level with where Diddy Kong is in regular brawl.

I don't know as much about Brawl+, but I think it's got to do mainly with bringing back combos.

Both removed random tripping, and there was much rejoicing.

  • @Sonar009 BUT I LOVE TRIPPING

  • Lolbrawl.

  • Level 9s are weaker than humans so yea u could escape that. Just spam "A" so when you get released you attack the person and they'll flinch so you can escape

  • Ness deserves this.

    naaaah just kidding.............but seriously.

  • @AlanRedrew seriously

  • @Liljoegi Bad idea ,"good players"on smash board have been proven to kill[all products are "as-is"]

  • How come sometimes when you release grab they go into the air and not right infront of you?

  • You aren't pummeling fast enough

  • Another melee fanboy...

  • It's a good game and I like it a lot?

  • @NDogg15 maybe its cuz brawl is a fucking retarded game lol.

  • @boooshk It's Melee with more stuff and a few minor replacements...

  • Fail?

  • I could go on and on about how this is fail but I'll just throw this out there

Marth can't do this in Melee

  • @Tsuraga Are you implying that Melee had no glitches or exploits?

  • @NDogg15 no? when the fuck did i say that?

    you said "another melee fanboy"

    and i responded

    "cuz brawl is fucking retarded"

MINOR replacements? these "MINOR replacements" made the game so horrible that we have people in brawl trying to make brawl more like melee. lol, you know a game is horrible when you know the try to make it like the older version of it. an older version whose fanbase are growing stronger and stronger because of the realization of how shitty brawl is.

  • @boooshk It's slower and has tripping.

Other than attack changes, that's it.

  • @NDogg15 lol other than attack changes, that's it. wow are you like fuckign 10 years old or something?

    this is a fighting game

OF COURSE HAVING DIFFERENT ATTACKS OR ATTACKS MODIFIED WILL GREATLY ALTER THE GAME

and in brawls case, for the worse.

    for the FUCKING worse

i don't even know why i bother arguing with stupid ass brawl kids

you're probably fucking 15 or some shit. peace.

  • @boooshk Funny, since I've never once heard a complaint about the attack changes, and there were only a few major ones in the first place.

  • I could go on and on about how the game's physics are garbage among so many other things, but I feel like it's gonna be a waste anyways. Also, they ruined the knee; nuff' said.

  • @Tsuraga so w8 u hate brawl?

  • @boooshk lol u mad

  • @NDogg15 oh sorry i thought you were talking to me lol. just ignore the first part of my comment

  • @Tsuraga which is why this game sucks.

  • How come everytime I try this on a computer, even at level 1, I can't get past like 20, marth just shields...

  • time your grabs better or mash a moar

  • As a Ness player, this glitch really piss me off.

I don't mind losing at all, but losing because some jerk decided to abuse the hell out of a repetitive and boring technique frustrates me to no end.

  • don't blame me blame sakurai for making brawl dumb LOL

  • @dumbwakeup so you hate fighting MK too i s'pose ;)?

  • @dumbwakeup glitch? this is an exploit not a glitch deal with it?

  • @kennyc1111

    (Facepalm)

It doesn't matter if it's a glitch, technique or ''exploit'' as you say. What matters is that it makes a match painful to watch and boring as shit.

  • @dumbwakeup

i agree with you, i'm a marth player, i hate chain grabs, its a cheap way to win, only noobs abuse of it

  • @dumbwakeup A video game pisses you off that badly, huh?

  • @28rayguns When you play at a competitive level and are beaten by someone using a technique that requires little to no skill, yes, it can be very frustrating. Hence, this sort of thing is banned in most tourneys. If you were playing with actual money on the line, you might get pretty frustrated too.

  • @sploosh578 Alright, I guess that makes sense, faggot.

  • @28rayguns Your rude response speaks poorly of you. Especially since I was never rude to you in the slightest.

  • @28rayguns

No way, Brawl itself doesn't piss me off; I love it. But I also prefer fair, interesting fights, whether I win or lose.

  • Ness: so many knees to the face AHHHHH!!!

  • Ness just got even worse =(

  • Lmfao I hope you get a Marth in tourney

  • @girrocks12

You can't jump break while being pummeled, what's so hard to understand about that lol

  • If you go to Smashboards you'll find out Marth has an Infinite Grab-Release on Lucas. Ness? Not so much, he can get out. But it does work to about 80% if done right.

  • why shield grab?

  • @girrocks12

They did it wrong then lol. Go ask a good Ness, I'm sure they'll agree

  • @girrocks12

    He pummels really slow lol

  • @girrocks12

You can't jump break during pummels, and Marth's pummel is fast enough to force a ground break

  • There are videos of it happening. Ive done it too when i used to use ness in tournaments.

  • Poor Ness.....

  • a human player coulda got outta that

  • No you can't

  • @Jelley0 o i thought i saw him ness shield nvm

  • Yes its true, ness could easily ecape that, but did you read the description ? He assumes that he isnt doing the technique perfectly. Trust me, you cant escape it if it is performed perfectly by the grabber.

  • You can actually escape but it gets you tipper Dsmashed

  • You people are idiots, this is a bug that was fixed in an update. Stop talking shit saying you can escape it because you can't. End of story.

  • @HayabusaNoTsuchi

I can't tell what you are trying to say lmfao

  • I'm trying to point out that the entire glitch is based on the fact that Ness can't escape Marth's chain grabs because his grab release lag is too long.

  • @HayabusaNoTsuchi

"...this is a bug that was fixed in an update."

    That's what's confusing me lol

  • What do you mean?

  • @HayabusaNoTsuchi

You said it's fixed and then you said you said you can't escape it lol

  • I said it was originally unfixed. I never said it still exists, only that it WAS a bug that allowed Marth an infinite grab release on Ness and Lucas and does not work anymore. So my comment was to tell people who were saying "look at all that time you spend shielding, I could break out of that" that Ness' lag time is far too significant to do anything to stop the chain. Get it?

  • the Wii doesn't get updates for games...

  • Uh yes, it very much does.

  • it only gets system updates

  • Brawl gets updates. Look it up if you still don't believe me.

  • updates? such as created levels/replays/snapshots from other people that are deleted after a day, or do you mean hacks like "brawl+" ?

  • No, I mean updates.

  • I still seriously doubt it because I kinda own this game (I guess I would know about this), and this IS he internet... you know, not exactly the most truthful source of information... -_-;

  • Google it, it's very public information.

  • just did, I found nothing about the game being updatable, but I did find updates such as the new characters and levels and stuff...updates from about 2 years ago

  • And guess how old this video is.

  • about 2 years old. the updates I found were about what characters were going to be in the game... such the "updates" from the smashdojo website. the game itsself doesn't recieve updates after being released.

  • Sorry, this is my bad. Apparently this grab release actually hasn't been fixed at all. So my point still stands about it being impossible to escape, as long as Marth doesn't slip up.

  • all you need is a turbo gamecube controller :D

  • On whose part?

  • marth's part, just hold down "R" and turbo "A"

  • Or... just Z. You don't need a turbo controller to grab him.

  • meh i guess

  • are u serious any player would roll out the way he waits way to many frames to start some of his grabs back up if i can see his shield i can move lol

  • @JROCKSTARSZ

"I may not have the technique down perfectly, but this should give you a good idea of what it does."

  • Real players can DI. Ness cannot.

  • boring

  • YesZ

  • yes... but a real player escape to the first

  • i hate people use that to win in maches is realy nooooob

  • Well that's no fun/

  • in Melee you need more techskills and in Brawl you need more Mindgames. and of cause there are Brawl-top professionals. for example M2K or Ally. they would never loose against a noob. but in Brawl you don't need so much time to get better and it's way easier to hold your skilllevel.

  • a few things I'd like to note.

the initial comment about if a cpu can't escape it, neither can a human is wrong, due to DI which CPU don't use, humans can escape more things.

however, this just happens to be completely inescapable (as long as the marth doesn't screw up) DI doesn't affect grab releases.

also note that move decay happens in actual matches, so each hit isn't 2%, so it takes longer. and note once ness is at 50% the release distance is shorter, that's when 'pummel breaks' can happen.

  • its called grab release

and even with smash DI and DI all marth has to do is tilt grab or dash grab. get to the edge and air releas to a gimp

  • Learn to double stick DI.

  • I hear a lot of ppl complaining about Brawl being a fail.

Which game's better, Brawl or Melee, is just a matter of personal taste. But saying that Melee is perfect can't be true, from no point of view.

Don't tell me you call a Fox - Pichu fight well balanced... LoL.

As for me, I like both SSBM and SSBB, each one in another way, and I agree...Brawl+ and similar are just hard Fail.

  • Pichu has a chaingrab on Fox.
