I agree that everything won't go haywire when in retrograde. I have mercury in my 2nd house but it forms a square with my Saturn (Jupiter conjunct) in my 5th house.

My moon is Capricorn (29 degrees) but it's on the cusp of Aquarius so I've realized that I get a very powerful influence from my mercury/saturn aspect...

She's correct. I feel that Aspects are way more important than retrograde although retrograde is important, it's not as important as Aspects (planet relationships)...

Astrology can't really predict sexual preference, BUT Mercury is the ruler of all things fluctuating and without a clear sense of principle. Retrograde Mercury often brings back people from the past.

Mercury also rules the ways we THINK we want things to go - which may have nothing to do with what we NEED. When he is retrograde we need to look inwards and find what we are really about inside. Look at your Moon to see what your real needs are.

@astrologychick I don't know about that... there is a theory about Venus and Uranus in hard aspects having some connection with homosexuality. Plus having an Air sign dominence. Mars in Gemini or Venus in Aquarius for example.
