Says On Dailytech Slower F-35C is needed, meaning everyone is Quacking about Airforce Superiority? Good thing to have that F-16J Fighting Falchion program to fit the tactical configuration requirements, means F-35 Needed for next World War? F-22J good to Rebomb after F-16J F.F.'s? When Does Stealth 2005 Come into play after next 2 World War's being masses produced! 2X gen Ahead sounds Clash of Nations Lights out! C&C Generals 2 Might not be needed yet with those F-16J F.F.'s!
@udical i say thats a biased statement. you cant say that one jet is better than another just on design itself. say you have two pilots, an oustanding one and an average one. if you put the good pilot in the f-22 then yeah, the f-22's gonna shred the f-35, but if you put the good pilot in the f-35, then the f-35 is gonna bring that f-22 down to the ground, ya know?
@afortaleza The catapult system is more convenient still in case of a carrier attack it takes time for the f35 to powerup and takeoff. catapult = takeoff in 4 seconds
@BlackKnight0081 No...if anyone gets in a dogfight with an F-22, they'll get raped. The F-22 is still the king of the skies and maintains its air superiority role (which is also why the F-35 will be exported, while the F-22 is for the US only). This was just created as a cheaper alternative that can carry a larger payload and drop more ordinance on the enemy while maintaining some level of stealth.
I already know Marines that will be switching over to the 35 when it hits here at mcas cherry point they are going to be pissed when they have to replace the landing gear because of hard landings in vertical landings lol
This may be the last piloted fighter. A future drone will outmaneuver it and have better takeoff and landing performance at a fraction of the cost. It's inevitable.
@mjh34mjh34 no, it is a cover for a air intake that is only used in hover mode... the f35 has a second engine at the front behind the cockpit that is pointed down... when that flap opens up it lets in air that is shot down and used to make the plane stable when hovering
@101andrewj Actually it is not a second engine, but a second fan mounted vertically and powered by the main engine. Puts out 20,000 lb thrust. The A and C have empty space which is where they will put the future laser system, with a generator in place of the fan to power it. Could be used for extra fuel, electronics etc as well prosumably.
Then please have your step dad tell those knuckleheaded senior executives at Lockheed Martin to pull their heads out of their butts so they can their act together. The entire F-35 project has become a multi-billion dollar money pit, the project is way behind schedule, and Robert Gates already put the F-35B varient on probation.
@357223308 The JSF program is something that's never been done before; an airframe that can be fitted for three totally different jobs. That would be like making a car that can road race, go off road, and has 100 miles to the gallon. Amazingly difficult. The problem has been the goal of 70 percent commonality between the three variants was just unpractical. So set whatever political or business difference you have with LM aside; I'm sure you can appreciate the challenge they have.
Yeah, it's a great challange. But Lockheed Martin clearly bit off more than it can chew. The JSF project has become the largest "Too Big To Fail" poster child of the U.S. defense industry to date. Now, the U.S. government (and the other nations that got suckered or polically bullied into buying into the JSF project) have no choice but to throw more money at LM. And as much as I dislike Robert Gates, I have to give him credit for having the guts to say "Enough!" to LM.
Yes impressive aircraft, Australia has brought about 100 unfortunately a bad buy. We r an Island nation easily cut of from spare parts. Sorry but Uncle Sam is a dying Superpower, China will be the new TOP DOG in Asian/Pacific. We should be aiming for self sufficiency in Defense we made the Mirage here great plane. Not being rude to our US friends but we may have to rely on ourselves in future what good is a Defense Force that you can suplly locally with spares or weapons?
@rag5206 Even if Austrailia had self sufficient military you do not have the population to fight off China. Austalia is an easy mark for China. You should have more faith in the West, unless you want to speak Mandarin. If you think America is on its way down then you must say the same for all Western Nations. I'd like to think its not to late. There is a bigger picture to look at.
@pirculator We go nuke & put cruise missles on our subs, problem solved China wouldn't attack. Plus we wouldn't have to get involved in other people wars i.e WW1 65,000 dead aussies WW2 35,000 plus Korea,Vietnam, Iraq, Afganistan probably Iran in May? Happy to debate state of US economy not attacking our friend US but remember ALL empires end eventually Dutch,French,Germany. England has an East of Suez policy so they wont help us.
@rag5206 The truth is not to many people know for sure the future of the US economy. Economics are far more complicated then people want to think. Even if China asked us to pay them back tomorrow, what would stop the US from killing the dollar and starting over with a North American Currency. The US would still own all intellectual property, and despite what many think we still manufacture a lot in United States. The US still has all the manufacturing capabilities it once had.
@pirculator The US still manufacture a lot and still have all the capabilities it once had. We still own the technology and the ideas. We still have the people and the free thinking ideas.
@pirculator Sorry your wrong 1959 manufacturing was 28% of US output 2008 only 11.5% . US lost 42400 factories since 2001. 12 million employed in manufacturing 2009 yet 12 employed in 1942 no increase.Since 2000 32% of manufacturing jobs lost. US spends $3.90 on China imports for every $1 US exports to China. Dell moving ALL computer manufacture to China. 2008. 1.2 billion Mobiles made number made in US=0. This is a worrying trend excuse me but an Ostrich attitude won't help the Western World
@rag5206 Your figures are based on nominal GDP. The manufacturing share has remained pretty stable in last 60 years: 16-18%. Of course, real manufacturing output (inflation adjusted). What has changed dramatically in last decades is the rise on domestic demand (borrow and spend; much lower saving rates) and net imports. Both higher productivity and trade deficits explain the loss of millions of manufacturing jobs. Trade deficits are 100% concentrated in energy and consumer goods sectors.
@xaviqaz Sorry to see what's happened re US economy its not in interest of Free World. However it looks like Changing of the Guard Time. Can't see way out of this borrowing trillions more just makes a bigger problem there r rough times ahead. It's time for the West to bring jobs home from China/India tariffs r a start. Unemployment leads to crime better higher prices then a wild west society.
@pirculator Did you see the Rand Corp report on F35 sorry to say Oz brought a lemon the F111 were a great plane which served us well. It looks like Changing of the Guard time very dangerous if China ends up top dog on the block. Time to bring our jobs back to the West from slave worker states like China & India
@rag5206 The United States biggest strength has always been its people. Other nations like to joke that Americans are stupid. These statements show lack of understanding of the US. People in the US tend to work hard, and even now people in the US are FREE THINKING and innovative. The US needs to stop sending its new Ideas to be built overseas, and The Govt needs to stop spending. As for Nukes we got plenty of them. We could loan you some.
@pirculator SOME americans are in fact not stupid but merely lax minded. they get a new debit pay card, they dump the included paperwork. end up frustrated with the fees involved.
you tell them not to do things once even twice most fail to learn their lesson.
@pirculator Thanks 4 the nuke offer, I am a Nationalist we should had nukes since 60's our threat is Indonesia. A lot of nations sponge off America for their defense u guys should Bill Japan,Korea & EU members. Big Boys stand on their own feet we need REAL defense industries importing US/UK etc hurts our economy we should be exporting weapons like Sweden. China is buying friends in Pacific ,Africa & Sth America. Do u know China's currency reserves is $2.5 billon. US owes $900 billion- a worry
The F-35's won against the Boeing X-32 in a design competition to create the second of a series of 5th generation fighter jets. The specifications being VTOL, stealth, longer range, and integration of all sensor's to make the pilots job easier. Lockheed his still working out the kinks in this particular aircraft but the other 5th gen fighter, the F-22 Raptor is already in service.
The answer is yes they are VTOL's. The F-35's won against the Boeing X-32 in a design competition to create the second of a series of 5th generation fighter jets. The specifications being VTOL, stealth, longer range, and integration of all sensor's to make the pilots job easier. Lockheed is still working out the kinks in this particular aircraft but the other 5th gen fighter, the F-22 Raptor is already in service.
@schopper456 More autonomy, more payload. And the SPECTRA electronic warfare system, jointly developed by Thales and EADS France, providing any aircraft (Rafale) with the highest survivability assets against airborne and ground threats. Will it outperform the Eurofighter and the Rafale, that is one question ? Brasil and Saudi Arabia answered the question. But only a few go the VSTOL direction.
down with makaveli and 2pac(musliums) and derivatives. The book is peaking mathew 21:21 and in look. Mountain is moving and the fig tree is being planted in the pacific"hence the 100 scientist that have predicted a storm 5 times stronger than the san andreas earthquake. Look and see if you can undo the evil."the holy roman empire" no reply please
China`s J-20 Stealth Fighter came out this week. The F22 must be put back into production, also an advanced version of the F-22 must be developed,as u did with the f-18e,f models.
Sure looks fancy, but we (Norway) are going to use ~10 billion usd buying some of these. Account for population, and that equals the US spending over 600 billion(!). And that's just the cost of buying it... ridiculous. We even have to make a new airport because they are so damn loud.
@nakazatoGTR What do you make of China ? It is still run by the communist party, but this country evolves quickly now and will soon dominate the economic world.
@nakazatoGTR Fistly, I am not for communism, I am for socialism in a liberal economy, like Canada, France, Spain, Germany, Sweden, etc. These countries are evolving fast because they do take care of their economy an social welfare together. Secondly, I think Cuba is doing badly because of the embargo and the result is just population suffering.
@laurentien00 i understand socialism, but its always a shadow of communism in some ways.
yes i know these countries have very healthy (sweden is spending for their JAS39)
but not all countries with healthy economies have free hospitalization, your kind of people are those never content and always ranting about getting free stuff and never content.
US economy went down, not because of government spending(its really necesary because there are developments in a sukhoi 5th gen fight for export)
also, dont always blame the government its the people's fault too, because the economy not only revolves on military/government stuff, but on how the people squanders their money.
US economy failed because of how people abused their credit line, and started spending money they dont even have in the first place....
P.S. a relative in canada dont receive free hospitalization but pays a tad bit less
@nakazatoGTR I am afraid that you do not understand a thing about socialism and how good it is, like americans who are brainwashed against it. Teh safest countries happen to have very good social systems. The wealthy countries without social services, they are plagued by violence. Last year, they were 35 persons murdered in Montreal (3.6 millions popullation), this is what you get every week end in Boston isn't it ? So, it is not just a question of wealth but also one of its redistribution.
@nakazatoGTR Do you know that 1/2 of americans do not get proper health care and 25 % none ? See the movie Sicko and many friends living in the USA have confessed how true it is. Because your very wealthy private insurance companies are cashing huge profits on your back and private hospitals are not willing to deal with people without money. Your US health system is just a big rip off. Those guys are just thieves.
@laurentien00 I went out and got a job then got health care....People don't want to earn anything...earn your health care....earn your money I can not be taxed anymore! i work! man you are Anti American all the way are you?
@vancosper False, I am not anti-,American since I am a Canadian and thus also an American. What do you make of people who get jobs that do not allow them to pay for health care ? Leave them aside to suffer and live in misery. That is injustice and the law should not protect injustice. Your US system is not based on generosity and this is the reason for so much of you internal problems. Your political system is an extreme-right system since there is no place for social services.
@laurentien00 Hello Mr. Canadian. Nobody in the U.S. goes without health care. If you are poor or have no money at all the state and federal govt. picks up the tab on the backs of tax PAYING Americans. Why do you think we want the fucking illegals gone? 23 million of them fill up our ER rooms and pay zero taxes.
@Warpath2198 Hello Mr. United-Statian. The Obama package for the poor. Lets see how it turns out. But the middle classed is still riped off by the private insurances and a lot of people have to lead huge battles to get reimbursed if not to keep coverage. About illegals, your message is very rude for people who keep your companies afloat. Without them, your economy would be crippled.
@laurentien00 49 years old and you still haven't figured it out yet? lol. Illegals don't keep crap afloat. Do yourself a favor and don't worry about the U.S. You have no idea how our system works here. Slave labor is keeping anything "afloat". If you actually cared about illegal aliens you would be making an effort to have them get a visa. Working as a slave and make poor wages is no way to raise a family for the ones that do have families here.
@Warpath2198 I think that you are the one who has not figured it out. I never said that I was for illegal workers. In Spain, they allowed 3000 illegal workers to become legal immigrants. It solved a lot of problems and gave dignity to many. But, you do not seem to understand why you have so many in the USA or Italy or many other places. The big companies want them for their cheap slave wages for larger profits.
@laurentien00 I guess you never heard of an H1B1 Visa? Well, it is a LEGAL way to import labor into the country for a certain amount of time. They get paid fair wages and many people from 3rd world nations sign up for kind of work. Illegal aliens and their supporters not only spit on legal immigrants faces they spit on American citizens. See random bleeding heart citizens like yourself who lack knowledge like to spout half baked statements at random. Illegal immigration is slavery and it is bad.
@Warpath2198 We have a point where we agree and you do not need to insult me to express your different opinion. Can you write to all HR leaders who employ illegal aliens ? They are the one doing this.
@laurentien00 What do you considered ripped off? lol. My girl friend has been working on the medical field for 15 years. About 80% of people going to the doctor for serious conditions are there because they are a huge fat ass, DUI accident, and or car crash. People filing lawsuits against doctors in a practice that is far from perfect are one of the main causes of sky rocketing costs. The medical industry made a 2% profit last year lol. Drug and insurance companies are making the money.
@Warpath2198 Fat ass, that is another problem where USA is not an example. How come that you do not have that many fat asses in France ? Lawyers, lol !!! Why is you country using so much these thieves ? In other country, we try to settle conflicts outside court and it works if you have a little bit of good will. The medical industry are making enormous profits, just look at the figures and they were helped by this H1N1 flue joke.
@laurentien00 Seriously, how are you going to sit there and lecture people about America's ways of doing business lol. All of these shit hole socialist nations don't eve come close U.S. level of wealth. Western Europe is dying because of its huge social programs. They can't afford a military and rely off of U.S. bases for protection all to pay for their social programs. Places like France the average person starts a career at age 25 and retires at 55 with a work week of 36hrs a week.
@Warpath2198 I can see that you conservative right wing propaganda is working well. As your Canadian ally, I can lecture you as long as I want since the world needs the US to cool off from its offensive attitude towards everything that is not like they have decided. Do not take your dreams for reality. Europe is not dying like you would like. The question is not the one of absolute wealth but one of quality of life and there US is far behind the EU countries.
@laurentien00 What you call right wing propaganda, normal people call common sense. You don't seem like a person who owns property or has ever worked hard for a living in your entire life. Are you some hedge fund baby? Or somebody who got juiced into a high paying Union job?
@Warpath2198 Common sense, lol. It is not the same in all countries and usually manipulated by the stupid media. Well, this shows the poor quality of your education system. You seem to listen a bit too much to that very mediocre private TV. Your are so stereotyped. With you everything seems black and white.
@laurentien00 lol Europe is dying. Massive cuts in defense spending, social programs being cut which is triggering rioting in many EU nations. Massive Islamic immigrants sweeping western Europe. Western Europe's birth rates are 1.1 That is depopulating while their immigrants are multiplying rapidly.
@Warpath2198 Europe cannot afford a military because the US does not allow it to happen. NATO is the produce to keep full control of Europe's defence. Maybe, you should ask their population if they wish it to continue. Buying out their governments is not the solution to keep a good profile among the people.
@laurentien00 lol, that is such a crock and you know it. The U.S. has already put pressure on nations like Japan who is also a huge welfare state to step up and defend themselves. They have a bigger military then the UK yet still request U.S. protection. The EU wants U.S. protection. Who wouldn't want to slash military spending and have some other tax payer pay for it? You are very misinformed. Emotion does not equal information. You need to go on some fact finding missions seriously.
@Warpath2198 Japan, Canada, Europe, Australia, all those nice countries are all wrong and only USA alone is right. Is this what you think ? Give us all a break. Nobody requests protection from the USA, show me a proof of that. We have other more urgent problems to solve. The planet is becoming very small and Americans do not want to share the world with others. People are getting really tired of American arrogance. Just stop it before it is tool late.
@laurentien00 Also when Canada's oil/natural gas drys up or when the Ruskies decide to just take it from you unless the U.S. shows up to defend Canada, you won't have "free" tax payer health care any longer.
@Warpath2198 The world reserves are drying up anyway. Well, we have other aces up our sleeves. For example, Canada has enough Hydro power potential to just live without any of that bloody petrol. There are more serious and close threats than Russians or Chinese invading Canada. I have checked figures, your country has more chances to collapse because of more banking crises (enormous frauds on your backs) and also from the fact that China will have you pay your huge debt one day.
@laurentien00 Wrong yet again. For 80 years people have been saying that the world's proven reserves are drying up and yet people keep finding huge amounts of oil all over the planet, over, and over, and over, and over again. Hell Brazil just found billions of barrels of oil off their coast last year.
@Warpath2198 This petrol will cost even more and you will soon pay 5 euros a liter even without tax. But the price to pay comes from the environment which has started to go go crazy on us. The billionaires or you will not avoid the laws of physics. The weather pattern is soon to change with very dramatic impacts. Will we have to wait until a storm destroys Miami or Hong-Kong for people to believe that we have played the sorcerer apprentice for too long.
@vancosper People want to work but they want to do it in dignity, i-e earning enough money to offer a good living to their family. I have never seen anyone who really does not want to contribute. It is in human nature. If the wages are faire and people threated honestly then trouble fades away and people consume the goods they need and the economy functions. I just explained to you what is good of the liberal right system if everyone can find a job and anyone can make a living. Ideally.
@laurentien00 That sounds like socialism and it is not realistic. People are generally lazy as are all animals in nature. A fair wage is what people are willing to work for. You don't force a company to set a wage when the work can be done by monkeys. An incentive based system is the best system. A system based on mediocrity is crap. Utopia doesn't exist and never will.
@Warpath2198 You do not seem to be capable of hearing nuances. A good system is built on the strengths of each extremes. In the US, you want only one extreme: the one about money, a utopia. A subtle blend between socialism and capitalism, between conservative and liberal. If you go to any extreme, you wind up in chaos. You cannot tell me that living Detroit is better than living in Toronto. Apart from americans, noone else in the world want to live your selfish dream.
@Warpath2198 A fair wage is what is needed to work to live well. I am for an incentive based system but this is not possible in a world where corruption rules. The guys who gets the buck is not always the one doing the best job but the one who can play the game of power of his bosses. The result is GMC or Microsoft: mediocrity imposed on the world.
@nakazatoGTR You say that Russians and Chinese are racing to build better weapons than you or Europe. This is crazy while this world will not go beyond 10 years at this pace with all environmental problems. Why is it that Lockheed is not making a plane flying with Hydrogen or else ? Why is it that the energy scavenging idea form Nikola Tesla has been put into Pentagon's Top Secrets when the world needs it badly. I hope Wikileaks works for this one. This arms race is pure nonsense. All crazy.
@nakazatoGTR the US economy went down due also spending. People on welfare refuse to work....."i make more on welfare" Want want want . I work and good chunk 35% of my income goes to taxes. they don't want to work......why ? they don't need we live in a baby state. The more babies a woman can drop out the more of my money she gets. Fuck Socialism ....anyone remember...National Socialism...no.....in say the 30s and 40s,....no? NAZI ring a bell? The United States should never fall under that!
@vancosper You mix everything. There is nothing close to nazi regime in Scandinavia, Europe,or Canada. Look at the UN surveys, they show well that they are the best places to live and I can confirm. USA is the only country believing for the extreme-right where only the rich have the right to exist. That is not a country based on christian generosity. Plus: the US economy went down because they outsourced their manufacturing (except military) just to make more bucks on the back of people.
@laurentien00 The UN? LOL. The UN is a joke dude. Western Europe and Canada rely on American consumerism and protectionism to survive. The U.S. believes in individual rights. Who are you to tell someone how much money they can make? How much they should be taxed? What they should eat, drink, drive, etc. Who gives you that right? That is the flaw in your thinking. You think one group should have rights over another group or individual. Stalin must be your hero.
@Warpath2198 No, the UN is doing a very good job considering the limited resources they have and especially that the US is not paying its dues. Canada signed the NAFTA but had to go to court all the time in order to fight US protectionism against Canadian products which had won the bids to be considered better. Individual rights for the WASP but the blacks and latinos (or poorer classes) they always seem to suffer. The rights come with a very expensive lawyer or you have no right whatsoever.
@laurentien00 good then stay the hell out of the United States Socialism....man learn from history it doesn't work! oh and all my rants go out to Nakazato!
@vancosper Yep socialism is a failure. Its amazing to me how all of these idiots from nations dependent on American trade, sit there and say such stupid things. The U.S. has generated more wealth then any nation in the history of mankind. 410 billionaires are from the U.S. China is second with 64. The U.S. spends $536 a year on defense while China pays $90 and all of Europe combined is less then the U.S. The U.S. system works as the Chinese are rapidly figuring out while Europe is dying.
@Warpath2198 Socialism is not failure. Capitalism will lead the planet to its destruction because of the greed of too many Americans or others who only believe in becoming a millionaire and have no sense of generosity. Your economy is not based on the true sense of capitalism since all companies depend largely on those government subsidies on the military. Without all that military spending, USA would fall at the level of Greece. The world has urgent problems to solve but your prefer your toys.
@vancosper Who are you ro tell me to stay out of the US ? Are you a criminal or fascist ? I am flying soon to Chicago, are you going to wait with a gun and shoot me ? If I want to come and defend a nuances system with socialism, I will do or freedom means nothing in your country. But, judging by the threats spoken against Michael Moore, one can have doubts about USA being a place for human rights.
@jpmorgan187 dont go again join the conspiracy nuts in over simplifying everything to layman's terms that you distort the truth.
ALL development cost will always be high, but when sales increase then the price will go down.
again the cost of your "wife" being hospitalized here will depend of what disease she has, if you told me it was a minor sprain i'd be shocked, but who knew? it may be a dialysys for all i know.. count your blessings other countries dont even have med staff.
@nakazatoGTR My own idea is Wars today are only half the picture My dad once told me if you really want to hurt someone hit him in the wallet. Look at cuba and there embargo Now its a war of money England ordered 100 of these jets for there aircraft carrier ..then 1 year later scraped there every last carrier and voided the order
Canada doesn't have a big millarty but it's good to know if my wife gets sick shes looked after free of charge ..anyone remember russia & the cold war?
@freakyflow Indeed Canada is an example of proper health care. I could not agree more and every country should do the same. Canada's military are renowned for efficiency with little means. I have an army friend who told of outcome of their friendly encounters with their spoilt southern ally. Now, study has shown that Canada should have bought French attack submarines to keep foreigners from their waters, but stupid politics made them choose the scraped British ones.
@laurentien00 ya we got the sub with a 7 foot dent in it and it caught fire lol But in the same hand ..Had the Usa not beefed up there defences we would be able to have all the extras Canada at one time did have good production of new fighter aircraft and a lead design in the 50's ..But nothing since then ..and you know russia is doing bad because they haven't copyied the F-35 Yet and called it the MIG-45 lol
@freakyflow My British academic friends were feeling so awful when the heard and they did apologise so much for this fire on the delivery sail... Canada should have never cancelled the Avro Arrow project but this shows the courage level of our politicians incapable of doing what is good for our own economy; the French and Swedish ones could do: continue their defence programs with their own equipment designs.
@laurentien00 Canada never cancelled the Avro Arrow The company (started as britsh) was bought by "investors" which many belived to be Boing or Lockeheed martin backed by the Us goverment and the Arrow was scrapped Seems when we do something right we sell out Seems we were are best under British rule We worked harder to Prove are selfs as independent country Now that we have it are goverment sells it piece by piece
@freakyflow But now the British have paired with the French to build the next generation of EU aircraft carrier. Its is being assembled in Barrow-in-Furness and will benefit from the advances of the Charles-de-Gaules which has unparalled counter-measures.
@nakazatoGTR The cost of your wife being hospitalized should be zero if you would live in civilized place like Europe or Canada or Australia or Brasil, even Cuba, the list is long. Too bad guys that you prefer your money spent on expensive war machines.
@laurentien00 cuba? whatta joke. then why arent communist countries advancing?
so your terms of civilized living is rather judging on free healthcare?
dude that is simply moving to communism which was a devastation in regards to north korea and other "communist" by name countries like china or vietnam.
also F35 has two roll ducts that open up beneath the wings.
so far no F35 lost in hover tests. and hover might not even be 100% fully employed since 35Bs may simply land on a ship doing 35Kts
Folks, this aeroplane has the same problem as the Dassault Mirage Balzac: it cannot achieve stable vertical take-off for design reasons. It only applied 2 forces along its main axis which means that it can easily suffer from excessive roll and this will amplified with side winds. This aeroplane was not properly designed. You need 3 jets for take-off and they need to be far apart layed out in triangular format.
@laurentien00 Wrong, The only problem we are having with this jet is structural and not always hard to fix.. In testing, it has exceeded it's expectations by design over 500lbs of lift capabilities. This jet is extremely complicated, much more than the CTOL and CV version. Yesterday, we fit the latest lift fan from P & W which is totally different. If you knew anything about this AC you'd know that already.
@brofranomo I have been impressed by the movies seen so far. I know from one top BAE manager that this plane cannot perform vertical take-off with full load. Now, tell me how you do manage stability with forces applied in two point format. Why didn't you choose to have two jets in F14 fashion ? I still believe that this plane is going to be a hell to fly.
@laurentien00 One other thing in response to your comment here. We are in R&D right now. Many more test to be done for you to ever be iimpressed right now.
@brofranomo With my knowledge, I can make up the classified parts. I am an academic and I teach robotics and mechatronics. I can design its landing gears, linkages and controls. It is nice to have pilots feel about this plane, but I am still curious how they achieve stability and I will find out. Surprising that the NAVY goes for a single engine plane. To be continued.
@brofranomo With strong and irregular side wind drifts coming from under, this plane may be rolled into an accident and you do not have a counter force to apply. You can only turn this big nozzle and wish you move up with strong side motion. The only way you can achieve some stability is by allowing that airplane to take-off using a lot of side space, with zig-zag motion being the result.
@laurentien00 There are videos here on youtube with the pilots expressing their opinions on flying this jet they all say it's so easy to fly. They are posted by LM. Now moving on, I'm an x navy man who was with an F 14 squadron. I loved the tomcat and still do. The unclassified info is available on the internet. Now to another question. I'm guessing when you said "two jets" you are talking about the 2 engine scenario vs 1. Top dogs in the navy are happy with the one engine.
@brofranomo You're inquiry is justifies because the Navy hasn't had a 1 engine fighter sinse the F 8. Top brass with the Navy are impressed with this jet big time. From what I gather, there are mixed feelings among Navy Pilots and the brass. More later, I have to go to bed now. We can discuss this later if you don't mind.
@laurentien00 every vtol fighter even the harrier cannot lift off with a full combat load, are you crazy? the STOVL stands for short take off with full load, and vertical landing for after losing the load in battle.
also, i think you never even saw the x35 test or even the full vertical landings test, and the flight control system isnt going to give the plane a Cadillac smooth vertical landing but make it easier with less concentration from the pilot. study the vtol simulator by future weapons
We are going through testing at this point. This version is complicated, to say the least. We are still in the R&D phase right now. We do have many hours, but we are being challenged by difficulties that are hard to ascertain, and we'll get. Software problems mostly. They check good on ground, but high altitudes change the whole scenario. Harrier was special and it's capabilites shook the world of aviation. I do have more info that is not classified if you're curious.
@laurentien00 That's OK because I don't know of any "unclassified" information. I know it's there, but I don't have clearance. Other than Reuters there are many more out there that are mostly opinion vs facts. I get to read this stuff everyday and that's because LM puts on their websight, pro or con about us. It is available to you also, you just need to know where to look.
@brofranomo I just wanted to let you know that if you send a question about the ease of flying this compared to the Harrier, pose your question to Airboyd.TV. That's the person who posted this and he probably is with our multimedia at LM. He can probably do a better job than I.

BlackKnight0081 1 month ago
@BlackKnight0081 No...if anyone gets in a dogfight with an F-22, they'll get raped. The F-22 is still the king of the skies and maintains its air superiority role (which is also why the F-35 will be exported, while the F-22 is for the US only). This was just created as a cheaper alternative that can carry a larger payload and drop more ordinance on the enemy while maintaining some level of stealth.

What's that large flap behind the pilot, looks like an airbrake?
mjh34mjh34 11 months ago
@mjh34mjh34 no, it is a cover for a air intake that is only used in hover mode... the f35 has a second engine at the front behind the cockpit that is pointed down... when that flap opens up it lets in air that is shot down and used to make the plane stable when hovering
101andrewj 10 months ago

357223308 9 months ago 28
@357223308 The JSF program is something that's never been done before; an airframe that can be fitted for three totally different jobs. That would be like making a car that can road race, go off road, and has 100 miles to the gallon. Amazingly difficult. The problem has been the goal of 70 percent commonality between the three variants was just unpractical. So set whatever political or business difference you have with LM aside; I'm sure you can appreciate the challenge they have.
shannon1664 8 months ago
@shannon1664
And as much as I dislike Robert Gates, I have to give him credit for having the guts to say "Enough!" to LM.

rag5206 1 year ago
@rag5206 Even if Austrailia had self sufficient military you do not have the population to fight off China. Austalia is an easy mark for China. You should have more faith in the West, unless you want to speak Mandarin. If you think America is on its way down then you must say the same for all Western Nations. I'd like to think its not to late. There is a bigger picture to look at.

rag5206 1 year ago
@rag5206 The truth is not to many people know for sure the future of the US economy. Economics are far more complicated then people want to think. Even if China asked us to pay them back tomorrow, what would stop the US from killing the dollar and starting over with a North American Currency. The US would still own all intellectual property, and despite what many think we still manufacture a lot in United States. The US still has all the manufacturing capabilities it once had.

This is a worrying trend excuse me but an Ostrich attitude won't help the Western World
rag5206 1 year ago
@rag5206 Your figures are based on nominal GDP. The manufacturing share has remained pretty stable in last 60 years: 16-18%. Of course, real manufacturing output (inflation adjusted). What has changed dramatically in last decades is the rise on domestic demand (borrow and spend; much lower saving rates) and net imports. Both higher productivity and trade deficits explain the loss of millions of manufacturing jobs. Trade deficits are 100% concentrated in energy and consumer goods sectors.

@nakazatoGTR Fistly, I am not for communism, I am for socialism in a liberal economy, like Canada, France, Spain, Germany, Sweden, etc. These countries are evolving fast because they do take care of their economy an social welfare together. Secondly, I think Cuba is doing badly because of the embargo and the result is just population suffering.
laurentien00 1 year ago

also, dont always blame the government its the people's fault too, because the economy not only revolves on military/government stuff, but on how the people squanders their money.

P.S. a relative in canada dont receive free hospitalization but pays a tad bit less
nakazatoGTR 1 year ago
@nakazatoGTR I am afraid that you do not understand a thing about socialism and how good it is, like americans who are brainwashed against it. Teh safest countries happen to have very good social systems. The wealthy countries without social services, they are plagued by violence. Last year, they were 35 persons murdered in Montreal (3.6 millions popullation), this is what you get every week end in Boston isn't it ? So, it is not just a question of wealth but also one of its redistribution.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@nakazatoGTR Do you know that 1/2 of americans do not get proper health care and 25 % none ? See the movie Sicko and many friends living in the USA have confessed how true it is. Your US health system is just a big rip off. Those guys are just thieves.

Your political system is an extreme-right system since there is no place for social services.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 Hello Mr. Canadian. Nobody in the U.S. goes without health care. If you are poor or have no money at all the state and federal govt. picks up the tab on the backs of tax PAYING Americans. Without them, your economy would be crippled.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 49 years old and you still haven't figured it out yet? lol. Illegals don't keep crap afloat. Do yourself a favor and don't worry about the U.S. You have no idea how our system works here. Slave labor is keeping anything "afloat". If you actually cared about illegal aliens you would be making an effort to have them get a visa. Working as a slave and make poor wages is no way to raise a family for the ones that do have families here.
Warpath2198 1 year ago
@Warpath2198 I think that you are the one who has not figured it out. I never said that I was for illegal workers. In Spain, they allowed 3000 illegal workers to become legal immigrants. It solved a lot of problems and gave dignity to many. But, you do not seem to understand why you have so many in the USA or Italy or many other places. The big companies want them for their cheap slave wages for larger profits.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 I guess you never heard of an H1B1 Visa? Well, it is a LEGAL way to import labor into the country for a certain amount of time. They get paid fair wages and many people from 3rd world nations sign up for kind of work. Illegal aliens and their supporters not only spit on legal immigrants faces they spit on American citizens. See random bleeding heart citizens like yourself who lack knowledge like to spout half baked statements at random. Illegal immigration is slavery and it is bad.

Places like France the average person starts a career at age 25 and retires at 55 with a work week of 36hrs a week.
Warpath2198 1 year ago
@Warpath2198 I can see that you conservative right wing propaganda is working well. As your Canadian ally, I can lecture you as long as I want since the world needs the US to cool off from its offensive attitude towards everything that is not like they have decided. Warpath2198 1 year ago
@Warpath2198 Europe cannot afford a military because the US does not allow it to happen. NATO is the produce to keep full control of Europe's defence. Maybe, you should ask their population if they wish it to continue. Buying out their governments is not the solution to keep a good profile among the people.
laurentien00 1 year ago

Warpath2198 1 year ago
@Warpath2198 The world reserves are drying up anyway. Well, we have other aces up our sleeves. For example, Canada has enough Hydro power potential to just live without any of that bloody petrol. There are more serious and close threats than Russians or Chinese invading Canada. I have checked figures, your country has more chances to collapse because of more banking crises (enormous frauds on your backs) and also from the fact that China will have you pay your huge debt one day.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 Wrong yet again. For 80 years people have been saying that the world's proven reserves are drying up and yet people keep finding huge amounts of oil all over the planet, over, and over, and over, and over again. Hell Brazil just found billions of barrels of oil off their coast last year.
Warpath2198 1 year ago

Ideally.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 That sounds like socialism and it is not realistic. People are generally lazy as are all animals in nature. A fair wage is what people are willing to work for. You don't force a company to set a wage when the work can be done by monkeys. An incentive based system is the best system. A system based on mediocrity is crap. Utopia doesn't exist and never will.
Warpath2198 1 year ago
@Warpath2198 You do not seem to be capable of hearing nuances. A good system is built on the strengths of each extremes. In the US, you want only one extreme: the one about money, a utopia. A subtle blend between socialism and capitalism, between conservative and liberal. If you go to any extreme, you wind up in chaos. You cannot tell me that living Detroit is better than living in Toronto. Apart from americans, noone else in the world want to live your selfish dream.
laurentien00 1 year ago

The United States should never fall under that!
vancosper 1 year ago
@vancosper You mix everything. There is nothing close to nazi regime in Scandinavia, Europe,or Canada. Look at the UN surveys, they show well that they are the best places to live and I can confirm. USA is the only country believing for the extreme-right where only the rich have the right to exist. That is not a country based on christian generosity. Plus: the US economy went down because they outsourced their manufacturing (except military) just to make more bucks on the back of people.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 The UN? LOL. The UN is a joke dude. Western Europe and Canada rely on American consumerism and protectionism to survive. The U.S. believes in individual rights. Who are you to tell someone how much money they can make? How much they should be taxed? What they should eat, drink, drive, etc. Who gives you that right? That is the flaw in your thinking. You think one group should have rights over another group or individual. Stalin must be your hero.
Warpath2198 1 year ago
@Warpath2198 No, the UN is doing a very good job considering the limited resources they have and especially that the US is not paying its dues. Canada signed the NAFTA but had to go to court all the time in order to fight US protectionism against Canadian products which had won the bids to be considered better. Individual rights for the WASP but the blacks and latinos (or poorer classes) they always seem to suffer. The rights come with a very expensive lawyer or you have no right whatsoever.

vancosper 1 year ago
@vancosper Yep socialism is a failure. Its amazing to me how all of these idiots from nations dependent on American trade, sit there and say such stupid things. The U.S. has generated more wealth then any nation in the history of mankind. 410 billionaires are from the U.S. China is second with 64. The U.S. spends $536 a year on defense while China pays $90 and all of Europe combined is less then the U.S. The U.S. system works as the Chinese are rapidly figuring out while Europe is dying.
Warpath2198 1 year ago

Canada doesn't have a big millarty but it's good to know if my wife gets sick shes looked after free of charge ..anyone remember russia & the cold war?
freakyflow 1 year ago
@freakyflow Indeed Canada is an example of proper health care. I could not agree more and every country should do the same. Canada's military are renowned for efficiency with little means. I have an army friend who told of outcome of their friendly encounters with their spoilt southern ally. Now, study has shown that Canada should have bought French attack submarines to keep foreigners from their waters, but stupid politics made them choose the scraped British ones.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 ya we got the sub with a 7 foot dent in it and it caught fire lol But in the same hand ..Had the Usa not beefed up there defences we would be able to have all the extras Canada at one time did have good production of new fighter aircraft and a lead design in the 50's ..But nothing since then ..and you know russia is doing bad because they haven't copyied the F-35 Yet and called it the MIG-45 lol
freakyflow 1 year ago
@freakyflow My British academic friends were feeling so awful when the heard and they did apologise so much for this fire on the delivery sail... Canada should have never cancelled the Avro Arrow project but this shows the courage level of our politicians incapable of doing what is good for our own economy; the French and Swedish ones could do: continue their defence programs with their own equipment designs.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 Canada never cancelled the Avro Arrow The company (started as britsh) was bought by "investors" which many belived to be Boing or Lockeheed martin backed by the Us goverment and the Arrow was scrapped Seems when we do something right we sell out Seems we were are best under British rule We worked harder to Prove are selfs as independent country Now that we have it are goverment sells it piece by piece
freakyflow 1 year ago
@freakyflow But now the British have paired with the French to build the next generation of EU aircraft carrier. Its is being assembled in Barrow-in-Furness and will benefit from the advances of the Charles-de-Gaules which has unparalled counter-measures.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@nakazatoGTR The cost of your wife being hospitalized should be zero if you would live in civilized place like Europe or Canada or Australia or Brasil, even Cuba, the list is long. Too bad guys that you prefer your money spent on expensive war machines.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 cuba? whatta joke. then why arent communist countries advancing?
so your terms of civilized living is rather judging on free healthcare?
dude that is simply moving to communism which was a devastation in regards to north korea and other "communist" by name countries like china or vietnam.
also F35 has two roll ducts that open up beneath the wings.
so far no F35 lost in hover tests. and hover might not even be 100% fully employed since 35Bs may simply land on a ship doing 35Kts
nakazatoGTR 1 year ago
Folks, this aeroplane has the same problem as the Dassault Mirage Balzac: it cannot achieve stable vertical take-off for design reasons. It only applied 2 forces along its main axis which means that it can easily suffer from excessive roll and this will amplified with side winds. This aeroplane was not properly designed. You need 3 jets for take-off and they need to be far apart layed out in triangular format.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 Wrong, The only problem we are having with this jet is structural and not always hard to fix.. In testing, it has exceeded it's expectations by design over 500lbs of lift capabilities. This jet is extremely complicated, much more than the CTOL and CV version. Yesterday, we fit the latest lift fan from P & W which is totally different. If you knew anything about this AC you'd know that already.
brofranomo 1 year ago
@brofranomo I have been impressed by the movies seen so far. I know from one top BAE manager that this plane cannot perform vertical take-off with full load. Now, tell me how you do manage stability with forces applied in two point format. Why didn't you choose to have two jets in F14 fashion ? I still believe that this plane is going to be a hell to fly.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 Sorry, mistake here. I have NOT been impressed by the movies sor far.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 One other thing in response to your comment here. We are in R&D right now. Many more test to be done for you to ever be iimpressed right now.
brofranomo 1 year ago
@brofranomo With my knowledge, I can make up the classified parts. I am an academic and I teach robotics and mechatronics. I can design its landing gears, linkages and controls. It is nice to have pilots feel about this plane, but I am still curious how they achieve stability and I will find out. Surprising that the NAVY goes for a single engine plane. To be continued.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 Navy didn't want a single engine aircraft but was pressured into by the DoD as the Marines and Airforce wanted it to such on the JSF.
in4ser 1 year ago
@brofranomo With strong and irregular side wind drifts coming from under, this plane may be rolled into an accident and you do not have a counter force to apply. You can only turn this big nozzle and wish you move up with strong side motion. The only way you can achieve some stability is by allowing that airplane to take-off using a lot of side space, with zig-zag motion being the result.
laurentien00 1 year ago
@laurentien00 There are videos here on youtube with the pilots expressing their opinions on flying this jet they all say it's so easy to fly. They are posted by LM. Now moving on, I'm an x navy man who was with an F 14 squadron. I loved the tomcat and still do. The unclassified info is available on the internet. Now to another question. I'm guessing when you said "two jets" you are talking about the 2 engine scenario vs 1. Top dogs in the navy are happy with the one engine.
brofranomo 1 year ago
@brofranomo You're inquiry is justifies because the Navy hasn't had a 1 engine fighter sinse the F 8. Top brass with the Navy are impressed with this jet big time. From what I gather, there are mixed feelings among Navy Pilots and the brass. More later, I have to go to bed now. We can discuss this later if you don't mind.
brofranomo 1 year ago
@laurentien00 every vtol fighter even the harrier cannot lift off with a full combat load, are you crazy? the STOVL stands for short take off with full load, and vertical landing for after losing the load in battle.
also, i think you never even saw the x35 test or even the full vertical landings test, and the flight control system isnt going to give the plane a Cadillac smooth vertical landing but make it easier with less concentration from the pilot. study the vtol simulator by future weapons
nakazatoGTR 1 year ago
would be better if the hatches were sliding types instead of the hinge type.

I do have more info that is not classified if you're curious.
brofranomo 1 year ago
@brofranomo Well, be my guest, I am very interested to read and see that unclassified info.

@laurentien00 That's OK because I don't know of any "unclassified" information. I know it's there, but I don't have clearance. Other than Reuters there are many more out there that are mostly opinion vs facts. I get to read this stuff everyday and that's because LM puts on their websight, pro or con about us. It is available to you also, you just need to know where to look.
brofranomo 1 year ago
@brofranomo I just wanted to let you know that if you send a question about the ease of flying this compared to the Harrier, pose your question to Airboyd.TV. That's the person who posted this and he probably is with our multimedia at LM. He can probably do a better job than I.
