@TheMirzu No you can't. You can only throw around another guy who practices Aikido and who has been trained to deliberately fall over for you. In a real fight people won't charge at you like they do in every Aikido video. Aikido isn't for real fighting/self-defence.
Aikido is basically a dancing exercise. It's like Zumba. You can't use Aikido for self-defence or fighting. It's useless. If you want to learn how to throw people and defend yourself then you're better off learning Judo.
@keikuru1 No you're useless. I've used it effectively in self-defense and fighting many times before. Again, you're useless. Not the style. You're better off keeping your trap shut.
@keikuru1 LOL charge at you? And you can't charge into them? No wonder you suck. You stand there like a totem pole. Don't even know how to move XD. Fucking dumb. U dumb? nod your head...yes you are little monkey...you dumb
@soldiermike80 no it sure does not. that looks like some drunk idiot trying to choke someone. im a purple belt and ive never seen a black belt in jiu jitsu attack like that.
How about this... instead of more pathetic arguing. Someone post a link to someone using Aikido in a real fight... or competition or anything other then a demo where the "assailant" is falling down. Secondly if thats not enough or there is one magic video I haven't found, then come to Vancity Muay Thai and you can have your chance to prove your skills... or vice versa if your gym is close
@vancitypuff Aikido practitioners don't fight or compete except for Tomiki Style Aikido. You will never see Aikido in any ring or in any fight because Aikido is a spiritual and religious philosophy and its founder strictly forbade his students from fighting or competing. But many Aikido techniques are also found in Judo and Jujutsu because those three arts are all jujutsu-based.
@osensei2987 Thanks for the enlightenment, so its not competitive. So besides the spiritual or religious philosophy how is the martial art tested? Is it only demos? I know the origins of Aikido I'm wondering how do you know your good at it if there is never a challenge. I would have to go with this line of thought and say that Judo is more effective seeing as its being tested and improved upon.
@vancitypuff U can consider Aikido and Judo to be different branches of Jujutsu. Many of the techniques overlap between these three arts. In the same way that u have different styles of Karate and different styles of TKD. If u want combat then Jujutsu training is what u want. Also serious Aikido students will commonly hold ranks in arts such as Karate, Judo, Kendo and other Japanese arts. So they are not noobs to fighting.
@osensei2987 Fair enough, and to be honest I was playing devils advocate to get to the bottom of it and now that I'm close I can come clean. I never thought they were noobs at fighting I just wanted to see what the die hard fans or even practitioners would defend their martial arts with. Tip of the hat sir
@vancitypuff Thank you. Aikido IMHO develops a specific set of skills. To understand what they are doing when you see them train as in this video you have to understand energy based martial arts systems. By energy I don't mean spooky or supernatural. I'm referring to the ability to feel the attackers direction and momentum thru the sense of touch and to instinctively disrupt their balance and movement in a fight. This skill once learned is easily combined with other arts,
@osensei2987 I'm gonna treat you with respect and be honest with you.. the rest of these geeks are getting trolled HARD.
I totally understand what you mean, before me and a friend started our gym we were training at a gym called Kai Sing Thong and we had to bow and all this crazy shit, and even that little taste I could feel that energy you speak of. I would love to branch out after I have trained for longer (I'm coming up to the 1 year mark soon)
@vancitypuff So when u see Aikido-ka training ur watching them do drills and break falls. This trains both participants at once. Of course u cannot depend on a real life attacker running toward u w/ their hand stretched out. Aikido is practiced this way so that the practitioner can touch a fast moving target and feel its direction and force. Then come up w/ an appropriate response b4 the opportunity passes which would result in the guy running past them w/o a response.
@vancitypuff If ur in a fight then u might draw upon some Mauy Thai striking skills. So let's say u nail the guy with a couple of shots that distract the guy and u manage to get a hand on him. Or maybe he's not watching were his hand is because ur strikes have distracted him. There is the opportunity to flow into locking, throwing arts like Aikdo, Judo, Jujutsu, Chi'na. As one would say in JKD. It just happens to come out of the flow. None of this shit is planned! LOL!
@osensei2987 Well said.. I concur that a mix of martial arts is always preferred. Look at Anderson Silva... he's got what some would consider some of the best Muay Thai in mixed martial arts. However he's also got a yellow rope in Capoeira, and solid black belt in jiu jitsu, and not to mention he's got Steven motherfucking Seagal teaching him random ass aikido techniques. Have we seen them in the octagon? No... doesn't mean it hasn't helped him.
@vancitypuff Steven Seagal uses a alot besides just Aikido. Of course it's only shown in the movies. So u have to take that into consideration. The man has to be in his 60's. So I don't know why dumbasses insist that he fight! LOL! But I've seen him do some pretty impressive Filipino Martial Arts choreography in his flicks as well as what looks to be Wing Tsun Kung Fu and Okinawan Karate.
@vancitypuff It's not about the art, but rather strategies and tactics. MMA as practiced today is mostly geared toward sports competition. There are strategies and tactics used to win a MMA match that do not always translate to self-defense. Self-defense is about criminality, murder, robbery, rape and generally bad shit! Self-defense is not a "biggest balls" contest or fighting off a chick's jealous boyfriend. Self defense is about total relentless domination. Not octagon shit.
@vancitypuff How about you just shut your fucking mouth and go back to home on whore island. Honestly speaking you represent the worst of the worst in the martial arts world. Your shit Muay Thai school can't even scare a mouse. Hell no one has even heard of you. Probably a McCamp is what it is. I bet you don't even know 1/16 of real authentic Muay Thai or anything about Thai terminology or culture. Don't make me laugh. LOL.
@jamespohh LoL you made me laugh.. seriously incidental comedy on youtube is great and so is your butt hurt little rant. My shit muay thai school was co created by myself... I didn't just stroll in and sign up like you. We aren't world class martial artists seeing as were new and we started on our own. However the people that have come by (or vice versa) are world class martial artists. Michael Macdonald is one of the best to come out of canada and he's stopped by on numerous occasions
@jamespohh Oh and as far as Thai terminology... I'm really glad you brought that up. We have a running joke about dipshits who think there hot shit cuz they know what a "teep" kick is or a plum.. plaam.. w.e We call em "thaistyoole" fighters. I won't even google the proper spelling because it's irrelevant. Our gym is based upon DUTCH style muay thai.. do your own fucking home. So you say plaam.. I say clinch. I'm speaking my own language and not butchering Thai by pretending like I know.
This kind of shit is only good for show and show only. You may be able to get a move in here and there but if Aikido is the only skill set you have then you might as well kiss your ass goodbye in a fight. Well, unless it's with a girl.
@tomgunc SO true.. I've seen like a million "real aikido fights" videos and they're all fake nonsense demonstrations. Like uh.. don't "demonstrate" it PROVE it...
@vancitypuff Aikido is not about fighting it's about philosophy and religion. Aikido practitioners aren't interested in fighting at all or competitions. They use martial arts training based on sword movements combined with jujutsu techniques as part of their spiritual development as strange as it sounds. They never claimed to be fighters, they only claim to seek the way of harmony. So why pick on them?
@osensei2987 I never said it has to be about fighting... who said having philosophy and religion negates effectiveness. I understand that there is enlightenment and self bettering to be found in martial arts.. yes and.. I'm not picking on them AT ALL... I'm picking on ppl making these videos as if they are some kind of martial artists. If what you say is the case... then compare them to Tai Chi.
@vancitypuff really? A million? So you're actually stupid enough to look for only things that say "real aikido fights" instead of researching the art. If you did any bit of homework on it, you'd realize there is a branch in Aikido where they actually DO fight. I'll give you another million years to figure that out.
@jamespohh I said a million videos I was exaggerating.. duh. "instead of researching the art" Well I could read a million articles (another exaggeration) written by Aikido practitioners stating that it's effective, OR I could come on youtube and in a few seconds find there are NO videos proving this. Unless you can post a link to a video displaying this "branch of aikido" then your argument is as valid as the guy claiming to have seen big foot. I'll give you a million years to find that vid.
@vancitypuff No need to, I've found tons of such videos and I've practiced the art. Only little babies like you need to be hand held, reared and spoon fed information instead of actually using your brains to research something before passing judgement. Mommy isn't here to do that dirty job anymore.
Nobody has ever heard of Vancity Muay Thai either LOL. We only recognize ACCLAIMED gyms.
@jamespohh So you just came and said you've found it... another big foot instance. Well don't worry your pea brain because osensei2987 has already broken it down in a much less cunty way. I wouldn't expect you to have heard of my gym unless your in vancouver... and even then I'd be surprised. We haven't even been open for a year. I'd say the most acclamations we have is the submission wrestling ties we have with Carlsson Gracie.. and the striking ties to Golden Glory in the netherlands.
@jamespohh What acclaimed gym do you train at? Are they in N. America? Honest question because you haven't really brought any info here... just lame o insults and poo pooing something you haven't heard of. So James if you have anything real to say I'm all ears.
@vancitypuff Yes they are in North America. In the US. Also in Thailand. Even took time to train Muay Boran. Yes I have a much much wider perspective than you. You and your one bunk no-frills Vancouver of all places shit gym that's not even open anymore LOL. Go hide there and pretend you are somebody.
@jamespohh Ok so what is the name of this gym. You've somehow come to the conclusion that I think I am better then you.. however this seems to be your self projections coming out. So how about you, your pathetic comprehension skills, and your elitest attitude come up with a gym that you googled and spit it out already. Hide there? I've told you where I live, where I train, and who I've trained under. Unless you want an address I suggest you figure out another way to be a cunt.
@vancitypuff Me? Elitest attitude? Look who's spouting shit he knows nothing about and challenging people to go to his hole-in-the-wall closet of a training facility to test their skills. Who the hell are you? LOL
Don't worry about names, just know they are pretty well known, especially the ones I've been to in Thailand. And yes they've cranked out Lumpinee and Ratchadamnern champions. Not Vancity champions LOL.
@jamespohh lol I'm poking fun at all these "real life situations" and "street fight aikido" videos on youtube and end up talking to some pretty interesting aikido practitioners in the meanwhile. Don't worry about names? Ok well I'll just assume some of the top gyms in thailand. We got to train with Michael Macdonald and he's from canada ( I don't think many champs are from here to be honest)
@vancitypuff Anybody can upload and name anything on Youtube. This video is mistitled so it's no exception. Just realize that what you are poking fun of is a range of the umbrella term "jujutsu" that deals with neutralizing attacks from the outset as opposed to closing the gap and taking it to the ground.
That's good you get to train with a K-1 champ and 10th planet Vancouver. Focus more on that.
@vancitypuff Roy Dean is an accomplished Aikidoka, BJJer and Judoka and he provides the best example of what "Jujutsu" looks like when it's all put together
Tomiki Aikido - the bastard child of Aikido because it goes against the grain of Aikido philosophy. Still, you get to see what it would look like when it is all done in real time with full resistance
@jamespohh I'm not gonna start making assumptions about your martial arts because it makes you look silly. This isn't even a pissing contest... I've trained less then a year and I already feel blessed just for that opportunity. So i'm not gonna argue about what we do, I'm gonna argue about this ridiculous video... after your barrage of cuntiness I can't even remember your stance on whether this video is legit or not. The dislikes bar says it all.
@jamespohh I'm not gonna start making assumptions about your martial arts because it makes you look silly. This isn't even a pissing contest... @tomgunc In the formative days of Aikido as taught by O-Sensei it was common for competitors in Jujutsu competitions to die during their matches. This lead to the development of Judo by Jigaru Kano and Aikido by O-Sensei. Both these masters created their arts as alternatives to violence. Judo provided safe competition rules that protected participants, Aikido abandoned competitions and violent confrontation altogether. They chose peace! So leave them the fuck alone! Asshole!
@tomgunc Yea it's so good for show, they have it as a standard requirement for Japanese police and riot cops to control unruly behavior. It's so good for show, the security guys that have been in my classes actually were able to use it in the field. It's so good for show and show only I was able to successfully thwart a robbery and assault attempt years back.
Only stupid people complain it's the style. Only stupid people don't know how to fit their style to the situation. Thats u
@jamespohh Congratulations you used a martial art against someone completely untrained. Now tell me how your martial art is any different from a self defense class... because thats pretty much what your saying. Japanese police and riot cops use batons and fire arms LOL... I taught a bouncer how to control in the clinch and he used that.. so now thats the end all comparison. So your saying untrained unarmed rioters and drunk unruly ppl at the bar are the only people that should have to worry.
@vancitypuff I used my art against both trained and untrained. I use it every day during my BJJ. Makes escape easier and nearly breaking limbs in the process. Bet you can't do that in a million years. It's all Jujutsu to me. And yes Aikido is a self-defense purpose, an alternative to beating people senseless.
No stupid. They could carry batons and most do not carry firearms. Cops restrain dummy. You taught someone? LMFAO. The plaam isn't for every situation doofus LOL
@jamespohh "I used my art against both trained and untrained. I use it every day during my BJJ. Makes escape easier and nearly breaking limbs in the process." is all you had to say... the rest is nonsense. Show me one instance of unarmed riot cops. Congrats on your BJJ skills, feels good.
@vancitypuff Ahahaha you haven't been open in a year? What the hell happened? Can't pay the goddamn rent? LMFAO. Time to close shop. Submission wrestling ties with Carlson Gracie? What the fark does that mean? Ties? A friend of a friend that trained under a friend under Carlson? LOL. Yea and I have ties to Ramon Dekkers then Ahahaha.
@jamespohh Are you ESL? I said we haven't been open even a year. Our gym teaches submission wrestling and we have ties with Carlsson Gracie in maple ridge. So if our students aren't getting enough mat time then they go to maple ridge. My trainer spent 3 weeks training with Ramone and some of the baddest motherfuckers on this planet. They liked the attitude and invited others from our team to their gym, I however didn't think we would make use of their time. Our main teacher however did.
@vancitypuff English is my 5th language actually. LOL not even a year yet? Sounds like a mom and pop shop LOL. Ties means you have no formal instructor with direct lineage. That's why you guys have to shuffle around like ping pong balls to Maple Ridge. Who is Ramone???
@jamespohh Well no wonder.. yeah sorry we can't speed up time. Right now its pretty basic yeah. We don't have a formal instructor but we get more then enough experience with high level guys. In fact we have more instructional talent then we do time really. Actually we shuffle around so we don't roll the same guys over and over. Just like we used to go over to 10th planet jj in richmond. Ramone was a typo... gear down big rig.
@vancitypuff I hardly used my BJJ skills..,.no need to. Most of my skills are standing jujutsu style skills. And in many confrontations on the street that's what I use. Crap you've never seen smelled or shitted. I have a hard time believe you can even handle a single weapon LOL. But hey you go ahead and lay on the floor all day. Show you one instance? Go research you lazy bum. The info is right there. Mommy no spoon feed you.
@bebill2 Funny how ur a fucking liar. An Aikido-ka with 10 yrs experience would never compete in any venue. Get outta here with ur bullshit. Aikido guys don't fight dumbass! It's against the spiritual philosophy of Aikido. The founder O-sensei forbade them from fighting even in competition from the beginning when the art was first founded. So if your friend fought u the he must be a hack that claims to know Aikido or ur just a fucking liar! Shut ur lying face fucktard!
@osensei2987 Your a fucking idiot? He's been my friend since school, we was at a gym, asked to use the ring? I think you take it to seriously, the fact i beat him. If you seriously think no-one use's aikido outside of your dojo, your as stupid as you sound, Steven Seagal?
And if you really think i know what it is in Japanese, then your also fucking stupid. I don't speak japanese. I used a hip toss and put his loose arm in an armbar?
@bebill2 There's traditional Aikikai Aikido and then there's Tomiki Aikido which is what would happen if you combined the fighting format to Aikido. Try sparring against one of those guys. Lay you 50 to 1 your ass will be broken before you could even say "hip toss" lol.
@jamespohh Ouch, sorry to break it to you but aikido derives from Jiu Jitsu.
Oh and if your gonna call bullshit, prove it?
"Japanese jiu-jitsu, is a Japanese martial art and a method of close combat for defeating an armed and armored opponent in which one uses no weapon.Jujutsu developed among the samurai of feudal Japan as a method for defeating an armed and armored opponent"
@bebill2 No stinky fartface...."jiu jitsu" nowadays has come to refer to Brazilian jiujitsu. The romanization of the "ju" is "jiu" in Portuguese tongue. Get your shit straight.
@bebill2 Just like dumb snaggletoothed Brit lol....you do realize Wikipedia isn't always accurate and can be edited by people right? Even so dumbfuck, quoting from there does you no good. Aikido derives from Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu, a form of samurai jujutsu. Prove it? There's something called Google you might wanna try some time.
@jamespohh Seriously i know your mind too busy deciding what your having for lunch you obese motherfucker, but your not stupid are you?
Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu orginated in the 19th century, orginal japanese the 17th century. Fuedal Japan, i.e samurai.
How can people edit it on that scale, when its all documented you fat fuck? Its not 'a form of Jiu jitsu' it DERIVED from it. It would not have existed without Jiu jitsu.
@bebill2 Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu originated from the Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu. This is where the original art came from and it is the school of Takeda Shingen's Samurai. It was handed down through the Takeda Klan over the centuries. This art is what became the Daito Ryu. Also it was a conglomeration of different arts, not just Aikijutsu. This ancient school is where Aikido, Jiu-Jutsu, and Judo descended from. So Aikido is a form of JJ as is Judo dumbass.
@bebill2 No stupid that's when it was first made aware and popularized. In actuality Daito-ryu's history extends back to 9th century....but like a doofus you decide to just swallow (like your man's jism) whatever Wiki feeds you without using your brain. LOL.
Stick to stuff you actually know. Well....come to think of it....you don't really know all that much XD
What do you know? Apart from whatever you do at aikido? Goose hands, what is that crap. No wonder none of you can fight for shit, trying to use that in a fight.
@bebill2 Gooseneck crank is a very effective come-along lock. It's a staple technique in a ton of jujutsu and jujutsu-derived systems. The very fact that you have NO IDEA what it is tells me you don't know jack shit. I hold ranks and have experience in aikido, BJJ, traditional jujutsu, karate all the way up to JKD Concepts, Muay Thai, Filipino and SE asian martial arts, etc.
What do I know? More than you can dream of in your miserable existence as a cockroach on this planet.
@jamespohh Yes, its so effective it failed to do anything agaisnt me.
If you seriously think trying to grab a hand in a street fight will work, your as delusional as you sound.
I don't practise aikido, and no your right, i don't know 'jack shit' i don't claim to be the master of Jiu jitsu. But atleast im not listing shit like you. You fucking plastic wannabe.
You hold all those ranks do you?
What style of karate do you do?
Please tell me a knife defense technique in Jiu jitsu?
@bebill2 Here you go dick wad! Tekubi Gatamae the so-called goose neck wrist lock as taught by Ryron Gracie : watch?v=UYJlJQTEa8I
Here is a Traditional JJ Yellow belt exam: /watch?v=ib3VAOwM73Q&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL21D272C4098464CD
Yet u claim to study BJJ and JJ? Well wrist locks r supposed to be part of ur training asshole if u indeed r practicing JJ. Yet ur on here talking shit about how they don't work in a real fight! U fail liar!
@bebill2 LOL....wow you play fight with your stupid buddy and because he failed you're suddenly sitting on top of the fucking world AHAHAHA. What a fucking loser you are. A real experienced person would have snapped your shit in half and showed you the bone.
Here's a knife defense for ya...consisting either of a straight munetsuki attack or a tanto attack then turned into kotegaeshi. Now go fuck yourself and die.
Yes I hold ranks. Don't worry about what I do moron. LOL
@jamespohh Yes, full of SHIT. You don't hold fuck all and yet you claim you do? How about i fuck your mum to death? Gangrape? Allready been there with her. (I hope she is dead, makes it all the sweeter)
Like fuck you hold ranks, how easy is it to google it? Ill try myself.
Found it in 1 minute. Get out of your bedroom and into the real world.
You fucking ignorant piece of shit moron.
I have no time for you now, so please try that goosehand shit in a street fight so you get killed?
@bebill2 yea tough enough and I don't need to play fight with a buddy and pretend to be king of the world either LOL.
Ohhh so u DO know how to use Google. It's not that hard. Even a chimpanzee like you can work it. Now be a good boy and use your new skills to find the techniques you were too ignorant to pay attention to in basic JJ class. LOL
I've done a goose lock in a fight. The guy practically begged me to let go. BEGGED. Like your mom did when she needed my jism. LOL
@bebill2 LMFAO....if BJJ is incorporated into your fighting then it's NOT Japanese Jujutsu dumbshit. You don't even KNOW what Japanese Jujutsu is or looks like or what the differences are. It's no surprise you don't even know the Japanese terms are for "arm bar" or "hip throw". Anyone practitioner worth his or her salt would have known that basic shit. Like teacher like student - DUMB. XD
@bebill2 U ultimate fucktard! Traditional JJ already has all the ground fighting shit in it that is found in BJJ! BJJ is not a new invention dumb fuck! BJJ came from Judo's Ne-Waza! BJJ is actually only tweaked Judo! LOL! It existed in Japan long before anyone knew wtf a Gracie was! HAHAHAHA! Ur so fucking ignorant! So why would anyone need to incorporate BJJ into Japanese JJ? U MMA types are just stupid white trash! I always said MMA was a white trash sport! HAHAHAHA!
@osensei2987 Well funny that, because the orignial Ju Jitsu, was nowhere near as good as brazilian jiu jitsu's ground fighting. Why practise something that is not as good as another? Oh thats right, because were not fucking stupid?
I don't do MMA? I only practise boxing and jiu jitsu. White trash? Shut the fuck up you stupid monkey, shouldn't you be dangling off a tree?
@bebill2 You've already been given the chance to illustrate what u know! U were unable to give the name of even one Japanese term. Yet u supposedly practice jujutsu. Brazilian jujutsu uses both Japanese and Portuguese terms for their techniques. I think that pretty much sums up the fact that u don't practice shit! Ur a liar plain and simple. BJJ is better than JJ? Really? I guess someone should have told Sakuraba that b4 he kicked all the Gracie's asses. Same thing with Yoshida! LOL!
@bebill2 And since you practice Japanese Jiu Jutsu then tell us which combinations did u use to beat ur so-called friend. Give us the techniques in Japanese terms. Let's see if u can explain ur winning technique in Japanese u fucking liar. Because anyone taking traditional Japanese martial arts can do just that. So convince us bastard!
@osensei2987 I didn't use "combinations" he tried to use some pathetic goose hand shit to throw me, (good luck using that in a street fight) i fell with it, stood up and hip tossed him?
If i wanted to i could have kicked the shit out of his legs because aikido is utter crap. You don't even condition your body? Your so fucking stupid if you think i must learn japanese because i train in Jiu Jitsu. I study in london you fucking moron.
@bebill2 I've used Aikido outside and it worked. Cracked someone's arm in an attempted robbery. Not to mention tons of other people that have used it. I'm still use it in my BJJ to make life difficult for my sparring partner. Your so-called friend must really suck if he can't apply a gooseneck lock LOL
That's freaking hilarious. You don't even know the terms for "hip throw" and "armbar"? You're kidding me right? LOL. If your instructor doesn't even know, what can be said about you?
@bebill2 Ur a fucking liar! U don't study at all do u? And ur story is total BS isn't it? I asked u for Japanese terms and u come back with "goose neck"? Really? Any Japanese stylist would know the proper terminology. In fight, you would not attempt any locking technique until u had softened ur attacker up by off balancing, striking, etc. That way the attacker would not be able to resist or counter u dumbass!
@bebill2 Also the so-called goose neck lock that u say won't work in a street fight is used in both traditional Japanese Jiu Justu (which ur lying ass claims to study) and Brazilian Jiu Jutsu. More proof that ur a liar! Because ur criticizing a technique that ur supposed to be studying if what u say is true. Ur just another stupid ass MMA fan that talks shit from the sofa. U think u know wtf ur talking about because u watch UFC! LOL!
this isn't a fight, it's a training exercise. Aikido is a martial art that is only trained, it's impossible to preform an Aikido attack on a trained fighter.
@jamespohh a trained martial artist would simply break out of it before youll be able to do anything, it might work with self-defense, but not in mma against a fighter.
@TheTrampolineMen uh Aikido was meant for self-defense. Plus anyone can break out of anything with enough training. That still doesn't invalidate it. You THINK you know what it looks like but you have no idea. There are lots of parallel and shared techniques between the styles since they are all jujutsu. Shinya Aoki's wakigatame arm break is a great example. Done nicely it creates pain compliance, done in MMA it breaks an arm. And it worked against an MMA fighter.
@jamespohh look, I asked my Sensei about Aikido becuse we were training it, and he told me to never use it in a tournament because it doesn't work in a fight, so I guess this MMA fighter who it worked on wasn't a very good MMA fighter, and you can tell me anything you want, but my sensei told me otherwise, and I choose to believe my sensei and not some random guy on youtube.
@TheTrampolineMen Sensei also told you to eat shit and jump off a bridge, you gonna jump off? LOL. Who is your sensei? Which dojo? I have a hard time believing you "trained" in aikido unless it's at a very basic level, and if you did you would already know what is going on and what I'm talking about when I say wakigatame. No the MMA fighter is a pretty decent fighter. It's just that Aoki is a very vicious submission specialist.
@TheTrampolineMen Ur a liar! Plain and simple. Nobody just trains Aikido. U have to go through the whole curriculum from the beginning. If ur sensei trained u like u claim then he is a hack! Quit and go to a real school because ur in a McDojo.
@osensei2987 I'd have to agree with you on that LOL. This dope is full of shit. It sounds like he is training something else and they happened to touch upon some Aikido-ish techniques. No sensei would give that sort of an answer. A more viable answer would be it's something that isn't for competition because it goes against the philosophy of it.
@jamespohh These mofos sing praises to MMA as if its the final word. They don't realize that in a desperate situation MMA could fail them. Because none of the tools in MMA can guarantee a swift end to a fight if that's what is needed for survival. Here is a video of a security guard with excellent MMA skills vs a untrained thug. Even though he lands viciously he fails to end it. If this was life or death he'd be fucked!
@jamespohh But notice he could not take the guy out even though the thug had no defense at all. In a dangerous situation u might be required to end it immediately. MMA skills can't deliver that kind of effectiveness consistently. Yeah MMA will help you win a a fist fight maybe. But in a situation were u might only have a couple of seconds to do away with your attacker you'd be screwed.
@osensei2987 The only way to end it in a matter of seconds is with either a knockout blow or a killing blow (ie a gunshot). Most people just get into a conditioned MMA state of mind and perform like they would in a ring - box, kick, ground and pound, etc.
@osensei2987 Why would he be fucked, if it continued he would have just knocked the other guy out, which shows how effective boxing/mma is in a real fight. The fight only lasts thirty seconds, give it two minutes and the thug would be on the floor twitching and that's two minutes tops haha. I agree with pretty much all off your argument but i dis-agree with this point as if the fight was to the death the other guy would be unconscious and fucked not the security guard? how would he be fucked??
@kyle1172 In a potentially life threatening situation, you could be called upon to put ur man down instantly. To repeatedly keep striking in an effort to knock the guy out is using up valuable time. What's more u cannot knock out every attacker. Some guys go down in a single punch some guys might never go down. In the mean time who knows what events are transpiring that put you or your loved ones at greater risk?
@kyle1172 Grappling begins in stand up mode. Often it occurs in the clinch. Or what JKD guys call trapping range. There are lots of grappling techniques, joint locks and throws that can occur w/o ever going on the ground. But first u have to be able to get inside w/o getting hit! This is were combat sports are lacking. They are not designed to go straight to the ass whoopin! Instead they dance around & feel the opponent out. And that's OK as long as it's not a life or death struggle.
@kyle1172 So in short, u should be able to get inside unless the attacker is already in ur face. To do this u can strike ur way in. But u cannot hesitate like u do in sports. This requires getting past ur attackers defense or offense w/o getting tagged! There are skills that allow u to do this while at the same time delivering pain distraction to ur attacker. Then once inside u use joint manipulation, sweeps, throws, dumog, etc to take the man down while u remain standing.
@kyle1172 U have to get ur man down in 3 seconds. Definitely u cannot take more than 5 seconds or ur dead! Ur not guaranteed to have that type of effectiveness by using and other technique except locking and throwing. Strikes can miss, require multiple hits or be ineffective altogether. Ground fighting exposes u to multiple attackers. But when a man is thrown he is down instantly. When a joint is locked, he will throw himself over a cliff to relieve the pain.
@TheTrampolineMen Firstly, if the person is able to simply break out of it then it is obviously not the time to be using that particular technique. Why can't u idiots understand that there is a time and a place to use a technique regardless of which martial art it comes from. U have off balance or stun the guy before trying to do pretty shit on him. A person cannot resist once u upset his balance dipshit! Even if he hits u there will be no power in his technique. U have to set a mofo up dummy.
That's not JJ. Just do a search of "Aikido vs" you'll see a number of copies of this (and other vids) just labeled with a diff art, like Karate, Taekwondo, Judo. I don't get why they need to do these things.
@3LeeJennings3 Not really. A demo is only partially "choreographed". It just seems that way because one person is trained to respond to an attack while the other is trained well to receive the counter.
Jiu jitsu? Where? A jiu jitsu will never walk or run during their attacks. And they do not play with their hands on the opponent. He moves to the closed guard, dragging the back foot, and with lowered center of gravity. First find a true jiu jitsu, fight with him, then post a video.
@MrPguarnier Jiu Jitsu is an art, not a person dumbshit. And secondly fighting like what you described is a recipe to get kicked in the face or stabbed in the back. It's not exactly smart to do that in real life.
@jamespohh Nobody kicked me, much less in the face. Just because I travel around with a firm base and the closed guard. This is basic. Jiu Jitsu man can be hit by kicking, punching, kneeing, but are not stupid to go running up the opponents
@MrPguarnier Stupid is the person that actually thinks this is an "aikido vs jiu jitsu" video when in actuality it's just a mislabeled aikido video. Do you have any clue what you are looking at? No you do not. Nor do you have any clue what a demonstration is. Or what is a "committed attack". Don't use yourself to measure the world. The world doesn't revolve around your firm base and closed guard.
Nobody has kicked you YET. Or worse. But it will happen.
@MrPguarnier Whether it was a joke or to disparage either art, nobody knows what the intent was. Still you should be wary and knowledgeable enough to know what you are looking at. Don't just make blind comments. And to answer your question, YES people have and do run or rush or try to take you down in a street fight. I've had that happen to me and I'm sure many many people do. Aikido doesn't require you to run to me. I can run to you. Or if you grab me, that's when it happens
@jamespohh So? My response to the video was for the person who posted, to clarify that the jiu jitsu does not teach to attack this way. This is not jiu jitsu.
@MrPguarnier You're talking to thin air, the person that posted this has not logged on in over 5 years. Yea thanks for stating the obvious, we all know this isn't BJJ.
@MrPguarnier Anyone who knows anything about martial arts knows that this is a video of two Aikido practitioners and that it has nothing to do with Jiu Jutsu. You and most of the ppl just like you commenting on this thread obviously haven't caught on which tells me that ur noobs! So STFU! The video was probably mislabeled on purpose by some asshole that wanted to start flame wars.
@MrPguarnier. I agree to a point as many of the Jujitsu Videos tend to show "less qualified" other styles than quoted. This is pure Aikido no Jujitsu in it at all
@MrPguarnier Secondly, the nature of one that practices Aikidio is calm and will avoid conflict. This is also the way of the Jiu-Jitsukan, although at Jiu-Jitsu we practice Judo and karate too.
In real life the two of them would never be fighting if they were to live after their martial arts.
@MrPguarnier The ppl in this video are from Aikido. They had nothing to do with it being posted here under a false title. Some asshole posted it to lure ppl into arguing over bullshit! Then he closed his account and never logged in again. So give it a break for shit's sake!
@difeosca Aikido, Jiu Jutsu and Judo all came from the same art (Daito Ryu Aikijutsu), All three art have the same techniques in common. The big difference is that BJJ does these techniques on the ground. But after all the BS is said and done, an arm bar is an armbar. A wrist lock is a wrist lock. If u get caught in any of the techniques ur ass will go down whether it's standing up or on the ground. So how the fuck can u say it doesn't work.
From what I understand wrist locks are perfectly legal. Which makes most of Aikido legal in UFC/MMA. However, they tape up their wrists So Tight, it makes it Extremely Difficult to sink in a good wrist lock. I believe that is the main reason you don't see Aikido in MMA. The gloves can also hinder a lot of Aikido moves. But it's also immportant to keep in mind that a lot of Jiu Jitsu moves are Also Aikido moves. So more Aikido is used in MMA than the average person may think.
Aikido moves can be applied in the exact same manner as Jiu Jitsu moves are applied. Most Aikido moves are generally practiced and applied while standing up is all. I wouldn't necessarily start out trying to pull a kote gaeshi on someone, however after I hit the guy in the jaw he may be stunned enough and for just long enough for me to Crank a Nasty kote gaeshi. And that persons wrist would be Fucked Up in a Major way for LIFE. That's One (1) move in Aikido.
Fuck all these bullshit traditional MAs that have been robbing people of their hard earned money and precious years of their life, Aikido=Bullshido. How tastes my big pee pee?? 8===========================>
@tfiraz Jiu Jutsu, Judo, Karate and even Mauy Thai are all traditional martial arts. So wtf are you talking about? I know of at least several instances were attackers were killed by traditional martial arts techniques like knife hand strikes (shuto uchi). For your information Krav Maga and JKD get most of their shit from traditional Filipino Martial and Malaysian arts which in turn evolved from Kung Fu. FMA caused the modernization of western boxing.
"Military way" or "way of fighting." A generic term encompassing all of the Japanese martial arts, which are largely 20th century offspring stemming from concepts that can first be positively identified about the mid-18th century.
@budo4ever Your gift is the type of gift that goes sailing right into the trash bin. Yea you only know how to regurgitate the literal meaning. What's the real reason behind budo? What are the differences?
This is so obviously a "pro" Aikido demonstration. Unfortunately there is nothing realistic about it!! If aikido is as effective as the people doing this demonstration want the public to believe, how come no "fighter" competing in the ufc ever uses it?? Answer: because it only works when you have a 100% completely cooporative partner who's waiting for you to throw him down as is depicted in this video!!
There are tons of styles also not shown in MMA which are effective in their own right. TKD, Filipino Martial Arts, Silat, Kenpo to name a few. MMA fighters train in a prescribed format that caters to their best needs in an MMA context, namely Muay Thai, BJJ, wrestling, etc. That doesn't mean NEW ideas or techniques from previously unknown styles can't be effective or included. And yes there are a few fighters that competed in MMA that have used Aikido takedowns and locks before.
@budo4ever I find it hilarious you named yourself "budo4ever" when you don't even know what budo means. It's probably not surprising given the fact you actually think a fighter in the UFC is the ruler by which the effectiveness of EVERY single martial art is vetted. Aikido is a budo. That is what it was intended to be. Yes it is effective to a degree. It is non-violent and self-defense oriented. It was not meant for destroying an opponent which is the objective in MMA.
@budo4ever Aikido in real life doesn't work as intended because the other person is an untrained uncooperative partner that doesn't know how to spin out or roll out of a lock. That means if I figure-foured your arm and tried to throw you, it would snap.
The throw is the same as rolling to relieve the pressure from a kimura or armbar on the ground. It's not a sign of defeat, it's how they safely go with the flow of the pressure. It's called a breakfall. Don't you know anything??
@budo4ever Bullshit dumbass! Techniques of Aikido are banned from MMA. That's the reason. Because MMA was designed for BJJ to have the advantage in the early days. The BJJ boys wanted to make money by falsely asserting that their art was superior. If Aikido style locks are allowed then u wouldn't be able to keep a man on the ground! He would lock your shit and make you get off of him using pain compliance.
No, this is aiki against aiki. There is no jujitsu here.

Judo sucks hard u cant beat big guy wiht judo but with aikido u can
TheMirzu 2 days ago
@TheMirzu No you can't. You can only throw around another guy who practices Aikido and who has been trained to deliberately fall over for you. In a real fight people won't charge at you like they do in every Aikido video. Aikido isn't for real fighting/self-defence.
keikuru1 1 day ago
Aikido is basically a dancing exercise. It's like Zumba. You can't use Aikido for self-defence or fighting. It's useless. If you want to learn how to throw people and defend yourself then you're better off learning Judo.
keikuru1 2 days ago
@keikuru1 No you're useless. I've used it effectively in self-defense and fighting many times before. Again, you're useless. Not the style. You're better off keeping your trap shut.

How about this... instead of more pathetic arguing. Someone post a link to someone using Aikido in a real fight... or competition or anything other then a demo where the "assailant" is falling down. Secondly if thats not enough or there is one magic video I haven't found, then come to Vancity Muay Thai and you can have your chance to prove your skills... or vice versa if your gym is close
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff Aikido practitioners don't fight or compete except for Tomiki Style Aikido. You will never see Aikido in any ring or in any fight because Aikido is a spiritual and religious philosophy and its founder strictly forbade his students from fighting or competing. But many Aikido techniques are also found in Judo and Jujutsu because those three arts are all jujutsu-based.
osensei2987 3 days ago
@osensei2987 Thanks for the enlightenment, so its not competitive. So besides the spiritual or religious philosophy how is the martial art tested? Is it only demos? I know the origins of Aikido I'm wondering how do you know your good at it if there is never a challenge. I would have to go with this line of thought and say that Judo is more effective seeing as its being tested and improved upon.
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff U can consider Aikido and Judo to be different branches of Jujutsu. Many of the techniques overlap between these three arts. In the same way that u have different styles of Karate and different styles of TKD. If u want combat then Jujutsu training is what u want. Also serious Aikido students will commonly hold ranks in arts such as Karate, Judo, Kendo and other Japanese arts. So they are not noobs to fighting.
osensei2987 3 days ago
@osensei2987 Fair enough, and to be honest I was playing devils advocate to get to the bottom of it and now that I'm close I can come clean. I never thought they were noobs at fighting I just wanted to see what the die hard fans or even practitioners would defend their martial arts with. Tip of the hat sir
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff Thank you. Aikido IMHO develops a specific set of skills. To understand what they are doing when you see them train as in this video you have to understand energy based martial arts systems. By energy I don't mean spooky or supernatural. I'm referring to the ability to feel the attackers direction and momentum thru the sense of touch and to instinctively disrupt their balance and movement in a fight. This skill once learned is easily combined with other arts,
osensei2987 3 days ago
@osensei2987 I'm gonna treat you with respect and be honest with you.. the rest of these geeks are getting trolled HARD.
I totally understand what you mean, before me and a friend started our gym we were training at a gym called Kai Sing Thong and we had to bow and all this crazy shit, and even that little taste I could feel that energy you speak of. I would love to branch out after I have trained for longer (I'm coming up to the 1 year mark soon)
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff So when u see Aikido-ka training ur watching them do drills and break falls. This trains both participants at once. Of course u cannot depend on a real life attacker running toward u w/ their hand stretched out. Aikido is practiced this way so that the practitioner can touch a fast moving target and feel its direction and force. Then come up w/ an appropriate response b4 the opportunity passes which would result in the guy running past them w/o a response.
osensei2987 3 days ago
@vancitypuff If ur in a fight then u might draw upon some Mauy Thai striking skills. So let's say u nail the guy with a couple of shots that distract the guy and u manage to get a hand on him. Or maybe he's not watching were his hand is because ur strikes have distracted him. There is the opportunity to flow into locking, throwing arts like Aikdo, Judo, Jujutsu, Chi'na. As one would say in JKD. It just happens to come out of the flow. None of this shit is planned! LOL!
osensei2987 3 days ago
@osensei2987 Well said.. I concur that a mix of martial arts is always preferred. Look at Anderson Silva... he's got what some would consider some of the best Muay Thai in mixed martial arts. However he's also got a yellow rope in Capoeira, and solid black belt in jiu jitsu, and not to mention he's got Steven motherfucking Seagal teaching him random ass aikido techniques. Have we seen them in the octagon? No... doesn't mean it hasn't helped him.
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff Steven Seagal uses a alot besides just Aikido. Of course it's only shown in the movies. So u have to take that into consideration. The man has to be in his 60's. So I don't know why dumbasses insist that he fight! LOL! But I've seen him do some pretty impressive Filipino Martial Arts choreography in his flicks as well as what looks to be Wing Tsun Kung Fu and Okinawan Karate.
osensei2987 3 days ago
@vancitypuff It's not about the art, but rather strategies and tactics. MMA as practiced today is mostly geared toward sports competition. There are strategies and tactics used to win a MMA match that do not always translate to self-defense. Self-defense is about criminality, murder, robbery, rape and generally bad shit! Self-defense is not a "biggest balls" contest or fighting off a chick's jealous boyfriend. Self defense is about total relentless domination. Not octagon shit.

Michael Macdonald is one of the best to come out of canada and he's stopped by on numerous occasions
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@jamespohh Oh and as far as Thai terminology... I'm really glad you brought that up. We have a running joke about dipshits who think there hot shit cuz they know what a "teep" kick is or a plum.. plaam.. w.e We call em "thaistyoole" fighters. I won't even google the proper spelling because it's irrelevant. Our gym is based upon DUTCH style muay thai.. do your own fucking home. So you say plaam.. I say clinch. I'm speaking my own language and not butchering Thai by pretending like I know.

@tomgunc SO true.. I've seen like a million "real aikido fights" videos and they're all fake nonsense demonstrations. Like uh.. don't "demonstrate" it PROVE it...
vancitypuff 5 days ago
@vancitypuff Aikido is not about fighting it's about philosophy and religion. Aikido practitioners aren't interested in fighting at all or competitions. They use martial arts training based on sword movements combined with jujutsu techniques as part of their spiritual development as strange as it sounds. They never claimed to be fighters, they only claim to seek the way of harmony. So why pick on them?
osensei2987 4 days ago
@osensei2987 I never said it has to be about fighting... who said having philosophy and religion negates effectiveness. I understand that there is enlightenment and self bettering to be found in martial arts.. yes and.. I'm not picking on them AT ALL... I'm picking on ppl making these videos as if they are some kind of martial artists. If what you say is the case... then compare them to Tai Chi.
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff really? A million? So you're actually stupid enough to look for only things that say "real aikido fights" instead of researching the art. If you did any bit of homework on it, you'd realize there is a branch in Aikido where they actually DO fight. I'll give you another million years to figure that out.
jamespohh 4 days ago
@jamespohh I said a million videos I was exaggerating.. duh. "instead of researching the art" Well I could read a million articles (another exaggeration) written by Aikido practitioners stating that it's effective, OR I could come on youtube and in a few seconds find there are NO videos proving this. Unless you can post a link to a video displaying this "branch of aikido" then your argument is as valid as the guy claiming to have seen big foot. I'll give you a million years to find that vid.
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff No need to, I've found tons of such videos and I've practiced the art. Only little babies like you need to be hand held, reared and spoon fed information instead of actually using your brains to research something before passing judgement. Mommy isn't here to do that dirty job anymore.
Nobody has ever heard of Vancity Muay Thai either LOL. We only recognize ACCLAIMED gyms.
jamespohh 3 days ago
@jamespohh So you just came and said you've found it... another big foot instance. Well don't worry your pea brain because osensei2987 has already broken it down in a much less cunty way. I wouldn't expect you to have heard of my gym unless your in vancouver... and even then I'd be surprised. We haven't even been open for a year. I'd say the most acclamations we have is the submission wrestling ties we have with Carlsson Gracie.. and the striking ties to Golden Glory in the netherlands.
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@jamespohh What acclaimed gym do you train at? Are they in N. America? Honest question because you haven't really brought any info here... just lame o insults and poo pooing something you haven't heard of. So James if you have anything real to say I'm all ears.

@vancitypuff Yes they are in North America. In the US. Also in Thailand. Even took time to train Muay Boran. Yes I have a much much wider perspective than you. @jamespohh Ok so what is the name of this gym. You've somehow come to the conclusion that I think I am better then you.. however this seems to be your self projections coming out. Don't worry about names, just know they are pretty well known, especially the ones I've been to in Thailand. And yes they've cranked out Lumpinee and Ratchadamnern champions. Not Vancity champions LOL.
jamespohh 3 days ago
@jamespohh lol I'm poking fun at all these "real life situations" and "street fight aikido" videos on youtube and end up talking to some pretty interesting aikido practitioners in the meanwhile. Don't worry about names? Ok well I'll just assume some of the top gyms in thailand. We got to train with Michael Macdonald and he's from canada ( I don't think many champs are from here to be honest)
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff Anybody can upload and name anything on Youtube. This video is mistitled so it's no exception. Just realize that what you are poking fun of is a range of the umbrella term "jujutsu" that deals with neutralizing attacks from the outset as opposed to closing the gap and taking it to the ground.
That's good you get to train with a K-1 champ and 10th planet Vancouver. Focus more on that.

Thats u
jamespohh 4 days ago
@jamespohh Congratulations you used a martial art against someone completely untrained. Now tell me how your martial art is any different from a self defense class... because thats pretty much what your saying. Japanese police and riot cops use batons and fire arms LOL... I taught a bouncer how to control in the clinch and he used that.. so now thats the end all comparison. So your saying untrained unarmed rioters and drunk unruly ppl at the bar are the only people that should have to worry.
vancitypuff 3 days ago
@vancitypuff I used my art against both trained and untrained. I use it every day during my BJJ. Makes escape easier and nearly breaking limbs in the process. Bet you can't do that in a million years. It's all Jujutsu to me. And yes Aikido is a self-defense purpose, an alternative to beating people senseless.
No stupid. They could carry batons and most do not carry firearms. Cops restrain dummy. You taught someone? LMFAO. The plaam isn't for every situation doofus LOL

@vancitypuff English is my 5th language actually. LOL not even a year yet? Sounds like a mom and pop shop LOL. Ties means you have no formal instructor with direct lineage. That's why you guys have to shuffle around like ping pong balls to Maple Ridge. Who is Ramone???
jamespohh 3 days ago

Funny how i beat my friend who has practised aikido for 10 years in a mixed arts fight and i've only practised Japanese Jiu jitsu for 3 years.
bebill2 3 weeks ago
@bebill2 Funny how ur a fucking liar. An Aikido-ka with 10 yrs experience would never compete in any venue. Get outta here with ur bullshit. Aikido guys don't fight dumbass! It's against the spiritual philosophy of Aikido. The founder O-sensei forbade them from fighting even in competition from the beginning when the art was first founded. So if your friend fought u the he must be a hack that claims to know Aikido or ur just a fucking liar! Shut ur lying face fucktard!
osensei2987 3 weeks ago
@osensei2987 Your a fucking idiot? He's been my friend since school, we was at a gym, asked to use the ring? I think you take it to seriously, the fact i beat him. If you seriously think no-one use's aikido outside of your dojo, your as stupid as you sound, Steven Seagal?
And if you really think i know what it is in Japanese, then your also fucking stupid. I don't speak japanese. I used a hip toss and put his loose arm in an armbar?
bebill2 3 weeks ago
@bebill2 There's traditional Aikikai Aikido and then there's Tomiki Aikido which is what would happen if you combined the fighting format to Aikido. Try sparring against one of those guys. Lay you 50 to 1 your ass will be broken before you could even say "hip toss" lol.
jamespohh 3 weeks ago
@jamespohh Nice one bro, sorry i forgot to mention i wasn't fighting an aikdo master..
Try fighting a samurai, they practise jiu jitsu, they would lay your ass out before you could say 'Tomiki Aikido' lol.

@bebill2 Pssst....got news for you....Aikido came from Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu....samurai jujutsu. LOL. You fail. go fix your teeth Benny Hill. XD
jamespohh 2 weeks ago
@jamespohh Ouch, sorry to break it to you but aikido derives from Jiu Jitsu.
Oh and if your gonna call bullshit, prove it?
"Japanese jiu-jitsu, is a Japanese martial art and a method of close combat for defeating an armed and armored opponent in which one uses no weapon.Jujutsu developed among the samurai of feudal Japan as a method for defeating an armed and armored opponent"
Wikipedia.
Seems like you fail.
bebill2 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 No stinky fartface...."jiu jitsu" nowadays has come to refer to Brazilian jiujitsu. The romanization of the "ju" is "jiu" in Portuguese tongue. Get your shit straight.
jamespohh 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 Just like dumb snaggletoothed Brit lol....you do realize Wikipedia isn't always accurate and can be edited by people right? Even so dumbfuck, quoting from there does you no good. Aikido derives from Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu, a form of samurai jujutsu. Prove it? There's something called Google you might wanna try some time.
jamespohh 2 weeks ago
@jamespohh Seriously i know your mind too busy deciding what your having for lunch you obese motherfucker, but your not stupid are you?
Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu orginated in the 19th century, orginal japanese the 17th century. Fuedal Japan, i.e samurai.
How can people edit it on that scale, when its all documented you fat fuck? Its not 'a form of Jiu jitsu' it DERIVED from it. It would not have existed without Jiu jitsu.
bebill2 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu originated from the Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu. This is where the original art came from and it is the school of Takeda Shingen's Samurai. It was handed down through the Takeda Klan over the centuries. This art is what became the Daito Ryu. Also it was a conglomeration of different arts, not just Aikijutsu. This ancient school is where Aikido, Jiu-Jutsu, and Judo descended from. So Aikido is a form of JJ as is Judo dumbass.
osensei2987 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 No stupid that's when it was first made aware and popularized. In actuality Daito-ryu's history extends back to 9th century....but like a doofus you decide to just swallow (like your man's jism) whatever Wiki feeds you without using your brain. LOL.
Stick to stuff you actually know. Well....come to think of it....you don't really know all that much XD
jamespohh 2 weeks ago

@bebill2 Gooseneck crank is a very effective come-along lock. It's a staple technique in a ton of jujutsu and jujutsu-derived systems. XD
jamespohh 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 U ultimate fucktard! Traditional JJ already has all the ground fighting shit in it that is found in BJJ! BJJ is not a new invention dumb fuck! BJJ came from Judo's Ne-Waza! BJJ is actually only tweaked Judo! LOL! It existed in Japan long before anyone knew wtf a Gracie was! HAHAHAHA! Ur so fucking ignorant! So why would anyone need to incorporate BJJ into Japanese JJ? U MMA types are just stupid white trash! I always said MMA was a white trash sport! HAHAHAHA!
osensei2987 2 weeks ago
@osensei2987 Well funny that, because the orignial Ju Jitsu, was nowhere near as good as brazilian jiu jitsu's ground fighting. Why practise something that is not as good as another? Oh thats right, because were not fucking stupid?

bebill2 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 You've already been given the chance to illustrate what u know! U were unable to give the name of even one Japanese term. Yet u supposedly practice jujutsu. Brazilian jujutsu uses both Japanese and Portuguese terms for their techniques. I think that pretty much sums up the fact that u don't practice shit! Ur a liar plain and simple. BJJ is better than JJ? Really? I guess someone should have told Sakuraba that b4 he kicked all the Gracie's asses. Same thing with Yoshida! LOL!
osensei2987 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 And since you practice Japanese Jiu Jutsu then tell us which combinations did u use to beat ur so-called friend. Give us the techniques in Japanese terms. osensei2987 2 weeks ago
@bebill2 Also the so-called goose neck lock that u say won't work in a street fight is used in both traditional Japanese Jiu Justu (which ur lying ass claims to study) and Brazilian Jiu Jutsu. this isn't a fight, it's a training exercise. Aikido is a martial art that is only trained, it's impossible to preform an Aikido attack on a trained fighter.
TheTrampolineMen 4 weeks ago
@TheTrampolineMen you cant lock/break another person's limb? you can't unbalance and throw someone down? yea maybe you can't because you're lousy
jamespohh 4 weeks ago
@jamespohh a trained martial artist would simply break out of it before youll be able to do anything, it might work with self-defense, but not in mma against a fighter.
TheTrampolineMen 3 weeks ago
@TheTrampolineMen uh Aikido was meant for self-defense. Plus anyone can break out of anything with enough training. That still doesn't invalidate it. You THINK you know what it looks like but you have no idea. There are lots of parallel and shared techniques between the styles since they are all jujutsu. Shinya Aoki's wakigatame arm break is a great example. Done nicely it creates pain compliance, done in MMA it breaks an arm. And it worked against an MMA fighter.
jamespohh 3 weeks ago
@jamespohh look, I asked my Sensei about Aikido becuse we were training it, and he told me to never use it in a tournament because it doesn't work in a fight, so I guess this MMA fighter who it worked on wasn't a very good MMA fighter, and you can tell me anything you want, but my sensei told me otherwise, and I choose to believe my sensei and not some random guy on youtube.
TheTrampolineMen 3 weeks ago
@TheTrampolineMen Sensei also told you to eat shit and jump off a bridge, you gonna jump off? LOL. Who is your sensei? Which dojo? I have a hard time believing you "trained" in aikido unless it's at a very basic level, and if you did you would already know what is going on and what I'm talking about when I say wakigatame. No the MMA fighter is a pretty decent fighter. It's just that Aoki is a very vicious submission specialist.
jamespohh 3 weeks ago
@TheTrampolineMen Ur a liar! Plain and simple. Nobody just trains Aikido. U have to go through the whole curriculum from the beginning. If ur sensei trained u like u claim then he is a hack! Quit and go to a real school because ur in a McDojo.
osensei2987 3 weeks ago
@osensei2987 I'd have to agree with you on that LOL. This dope is full of shit. It sounds like he is training something else and they happened to touch upon some Aikido-ish techniques. No sensei would give that sort of an answer. A more viable answer would be it's something that isn't for competition because it goes against the philosophy of it.
jamespohh 3 weeks ago
@jamespohh These mofos sing praises to MMA as if its the final word. They don't realize that in a desperate situation MMA could fail them. Because none of the tools in MMA can guarantee a swift end to a fight if that's what is needed for survival. Here is a video of a security guard with excellent MMA skills vs a untrained thug. Even though he lands viciously he fails to end it. If this was life or death he'd be fucked!
watch?v=OdfSLnKMqq4&context=C31a60fbADOEgsToPDskIoElEbS2JebMFhIL4VJgyo
osensei2987 3 weeks ago
@osensei2987 I've seen that video...he's got some serious boxing skills lol
jamespohh 3 weeks ago
@jamespohh But notice he could not take the guy out even though the thug had no defense at all. In a dangerous situation u might be required to end it immediately. MMA skills can't deliver that kind of effectiveness consistently. Yeah MMA will help you win a a fist fight maybe. But in a situation were u might only have a couple of seconds to do away with your attacker you'd be screwed.
osensei2987 3 weeks ago
@osensei2987 The only way to end it in a matter of seconds is with either a knockout blow or a killing blow (ie a gunshot). Most people just get into a conditioned MMA state of mind and perform like they would in a ring - box, kick, ground and pound, etc.
jamespohh 3 weeks ago
@osensei2987 Why would he be fucked, if it continued he would have just knocked the other guy out, which shows how effective boxing/mma is in a real fight. The fight only lasts thirty seconds, give it two minutes and the thug would be on the floor twitching and that's two minutes tops haha. I agree with pretty much all off your argument but i dis-agree with this point as if the fight was to the death the other guy would be unconscious and fucked not the security guard? how would he be fucked??
kyle1172 6 days ago
@kyle1172 In a potentially life threatening situation, you could be called upon to put ur man down instantly. To repeatedly keep striking in an effort to knock the guy out is using up valuable time. What's more u cannot knock out every attacker. Some guys go down in a single punch some guys might never go down. In the mean time who knows what events are transpiring that put you or your loved ones at greater risk?
osensei2987 6 days ago
@osensei2987 so you say you need grappling in order to win?
kyle1172 5 days ago
@kyle1172 Grappling begins in stand up mode. Often it occurs in the clinch. Or what JKD guys call trapping range. There are lots of grappling techniques, joint locks and throws that can occur w/o ever going on the ground. But first u have to be able to get inside w/o getting hit! This is were combat sports are lacking. They are not designed to go straight to the ass whoopin! Instead they dance around & feel the opponent out. And that's OK as long as it's not a life or death struggle.
osensei2987 4 days ago
@kyle1172 So in short, u should be able to get inside unless the attacker is already in ur face. To do this u can strike ur way in. But u cannot hesitate like u do in sports. This requires getting past ur attackers defense or offense w/o getting tagged! There are skills that allow u to do this while at the same time delivering pain distraction to ur attacker. Then once inside u use joint manipulation, sweeps, throws, dumog, etc to take the man down while u remain standing.
osensei2987 4 days ago
@kyle1172 U have to get ur man down in 3 seconds. Definitely u cannot take more than 5 seconds or ur dead! Ur not guaranteed to have that type of effectiveness by using and other technique except locking and throwing. Strikes can miss, require multiple hits or be ineffective altogether. Ground fighting exposes u to multiple attackers. But when a man is thrown he is down instantly. When a joint is locked, he will throw himself over a cliff to relieve the pain.
osensei2987 4 days ago
@TheTrampolineMen Firstly, if the person is able to simply break out of it then it is obviously not the time to be using that particular technique. Why can't u idiots understand that there is a time and a place to use a technique regardless of which martial art it comes from. U have off balance or stun the guy before trying to do pretty shit on him. A person cannot resist once u upset his balance dipshit! Even if he hits u there will be no power in his technique. U have to set a mofo up dummy.

Jiu jitsu? Where? A jiu jitsu will never walk or run during their attacks. And they do not play with their hands on the opponent. He moves to the closed guard, dragging the back foot, and with lowered center of gravity. First find a true jiu jitsu, fight with him, then post a video.
MrPguarnier 1 month ago 13
@MrPguarnier Jiu Jitsu is an art, not a person dumbshit. And secondly fighting like what you described is a recipe to get kicked in the face or stabbed in the back. It's not exactly smart to do that in real life.
jamespohh 1 month ago
@jamespohh Nobody kicked me, much less in the face. Just because I travel around with a firm base and the closed guard. This is basic. Jiu Jitsu man can be hit by kicking, punching, kneeing, but are not stupid to go running up the opponents
MrPguarnier 1 month ago
@MrPguarnier Stupid is the person that actually thinks this is an "aikido vs jiu jitsu" video when in actuality it's just a mislabeled aikido video. Do you have any clue what you are looking at? No you do not. Nor do you have any clue what a demonstration is. Or what is a "committed attack". Don't use yourself to measure the world. The world doesn't revolve around your firm base and closed guard.
Nobody has kicked you YET. Or worse. But it will happen.
jamespohh 1 month ago
@jamespohh And why not name the video as a demonstration of aikido? Someone put it, aikido vs jiu jitsu for what? Disparage a martial art?
MrPguarnier 1 month ago
@MrPguarnier Whether it was a joke or to disparage either art, nobody knows what the intent was. Still you should be wary and knowledgeable enough to know what you are looking at. Don't just make blind comments. And to answer your question, YES people have and do run or rush or try to take you down in a street fight. I've had that happen to me and I'm sure many many people do. Aikido doesn't require you to run to me. I can run to you. Or if you grab me, that's when it happens
jamespohh 1 month ago

jamespohh 1 month ago
@difeosca Aikido, Jiu Jutsu and Judo all came from the same art (Daito Ryu Aikijutsu), All three art have the same techniques in common. The big difference is that BJJ does these techniques on the ground. But after all the BS is said and done, an arm bar is an armbar. A wrist lock is a wrist lock. If u get caught in any of the techniques ur ass will go down whether it's standing up or on the ground. So how the fuck can u say it doesn't work.
osensei2987 1 month ago
That looks like a demostration
BoarsofWar 1 month ago
From what I understand wrist locks are perfectly legal. Which makes most of Aikido legal in UFC/MMA. However, they tape up their wrists So Tight, it makes it Extremely Difficult to sink in a good wrist lock. I believe that is the main reason you don't see Aikido in MMA. The gloves can also hinder a lot of Aikido moves. But it's also immportant to keep in mind that a lot of Jiu Jitsu moves are Also Aikido moves. So more Aikido is used in MMA than the average person may think.
PanTheGoatMan 1 month ago
Aikido moves can be applied in the exact same manner as Jiu Jitsu moves are applied. Most Aikido moves are generally practiced and applied while standing up is all. I wouldn't necessarily start out trying to pull a kote gaeshi on someone, however after I hit the guy in the jaw he may be stunned enough and for just long enough for me to Crank a Nasty kote gaeshi. And that persons wrist would be Fucked Up in a Major way for LIFE. That's One (1) move in Aikido.
