  • I do not have sound playing as I watch this, so I assume your complaints are aimed at the sanda boxers in the background. I expect the sanda boxers were scheduled to have their match at that time, but yes, this master should have had the complete attention of everyone when performing something as famous as the Iron Wire form.

  • I do very much respect and admire the skills of this master. He looks very well-built, and Hung Gar is a wonderful southern style (I favour southern styles, personally).

But did anyone ever consider, that this was a tournament? And perhaps the people boxing in the background were scheduled to have their match at that time?

Perhaps they weren't deliberately trying to be rude. We "white meat basterds" in many cases love wushu, even the watered down crap made by the PRC (contemporary).

  • Master Chiu Chi Wai - Hungar

  • amazing old guy with spectacles

  • all rude idiot !! chiu si fu do not deserve to perform to diotic people iam a student of hunggar and iam deeply offended by this ..SHOW ME GRANDMASTER SOME RESPECT U WHITE MEAT BASTERDS

  • Out of respect for this master, nothing should have been going on. I agree with you rockyjunior.

  • Hung Ga's Five Animal 5 Element From. Different than Iron Wire, or Tiger/Crane set. 5 Animal/5 Element starts with the Tit Sid set and "parts" of Tiger Crane (Tang Fong sets anyway)

  • Yes, the pricks in the background were disrespectful as all Hell, but I am the only one who RAOFL at the fact that if he put on a pressed shirt, and concealed his armbands, that he would surprise the living s*** out of a group of muggers? With that immaculate haircut, and wire-rims, he looks like a businessman or a banker! This is yet another reason why not to hit a guy with glasses.

  • He was my grand master back to the 70's. His dad was the 2nd generation pupil of Wong Fei Hung. You don't have to fight with him. When he punched, you die already. Those background people showed no respect, what a shame.

  • the guy dancing in the background XD

  • wow, that old man looks strong as an ox. i bet he could rip my head off in one swift move. i hope i am that powerful at his age.

  • EYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

  • what is wrong wit hthese people? Alittle more respect when the master is up!!!!!!!

  • This video was made when he was 75yrs old. Pretty good looking for a 75 year old!

  • @1NX9 Was he really 75yo? I wish I'll be as fit as him when I'm 45...

  • @bordereye

    Yes he was 75yrs old.

I'm sure you can be as fit as he is at 45yrs+.

I notice alot of hung gar practitioners 50+ are still muscular. It has to do with their dynamic tension exercises. Its something worth learning.

  • @bordereye

Oh another thing you might want to check out a youtube video titled

"93 years old and still flying".

  • @1NX9 Thank you. :-)

  • @bordereye

    Your welcome! ^_^

  • wtf the thumbnail makes him look like hes in freaking mortal combat charging up an energy blast

  • he's got chun li wristbands!! :)

  • I like this video!

  • Comment removed

  • CHIU WAI = TRUE HUNG MASTER.

  • This guys an axe, He'd kick the ass of most young men!

    Great video :)

  • @TheUltraNinja Couldn't agree more, Chiu Wai is the MAN.

  • Its a competion dude, check out a tournament on youtube, so you can see what I mean. It's no disrespect to the Master.

  • We can all learn from the old master and press on into our older years. Practice and teach others so the style continues. The problem is Hung Gar is hard work and not too many people will pay the price.

  • I could take him.

....nah I'm jk he would whoop my ass.

  • He reminds me of the IRON FIST guy from KUNG FU HUSTLE. Also I would love to see this guy get mugged, he would totally throw off the muggers. WITH A POWER FIST TO THE FACE! lol Don't mess with the dude in glasses.

  • hes(Chiu Wai) the brother of the one(Chiu Chi Ling) who played the tailor in kung fu hustle...

  • Is he the older brother of Chiu Chi Ling?

I like the way he performs these forms.. powerful, fast, smooth and good mixture of hardness and softness.

  • @yinghonghaohan319 yes hes the older brother,I think Chiu Wai turns 80 this year!

  • I'd have to say that this performance was very impressive. He's rather old now but he still retains a muscular physique and presented his form with a firm foundation and stable structure.

Much respect for Chiu Chi Wai indeed!

  • how old is he in this video????????

  • I believe he was 75 yrs old when this video was made.

Pretty good shape for a 75yr old huh!

  • brilliant!

  • what is he wearing in his hands, are these weights for forearms like iron rings? if yes i would like to get these

  • it's leather cover (sleeves) with pinches.

functions to protect the waist and also in the old days, good for combat avoiding from being locked.

You can buy it from chinese kung-fu supply shop

  • I see. Thanks for the information.

  • dear malik9211,

pls excuse me of my dum silly typing mistake,

should read WRIST = not waist

  • hes massive for his age!

  • I really want to say thats what she said but that would be kind of...nasty...

  • i've started doing some of this. ITS ACE for toning up. i like when you exhale you tense up and hold then breath in and go fluid then BANG tense and exhale. really enjoying it

  • What was the exact age of Chiu Wai when this video was made?

  • By who? simple street fighters like you, you ,,PunkRockMetalHead''???

  • @PunkRockMetalHead Iron Thread/Wire isn't a martial art form, its a drill, an exercise. Would you expect only doing only Yoga or Weight lifting the only thing you need to do to be a good fighter? No, you wouldn't.

  • FOr being brothers and in the same lineage, Ling and Wai sure do have different ways of doing iron wire.

  • Ultimately everyone's kungfu is different.

  • respect

  • What you see is the result of dynamic tension. And yes dynamic tension alone can built great strength and muscle mass. There are no if and(s)and but(s) about it. Folks have been doing it for over 2000 years.

  • yes but dynamic tensioning alone takes a while to build. i should know

  • also called isometrics

  • Yes, a mix of isometrics--exercise without movement--along with what Sifu Harry Wong would call flowing isometrics. This is accomplished by flexing one's muscles and then moving one's limbs during the flex.

  • what the hell is wrong with that place! show some more respect for the master man.....

having a boxing match right behind and making so much noises ...

  • I recently started Hung Gar training. The style has few kicks, it concentrates on strong forarms and a strong grip. True practitioners wear brass rings on thier forarms totaling 18lbs per arm. Rings rubbing the skin toughen it, the weight toughens the muscle, and it is said the chime of the brass resonates in the bone toughening it as well.

  • LittleBrother76,

your [chime of the brass resonates in the bone toughening it as well. ] is so fresh to me. Thank your for sharing this info.

Mind you also quote the source of this info too, thx !

  • The source of my knowledge on the subject comes from my sifu Onassis Parungao. The only videos I have posted are of him. In the descriptions of the videos is his website link if you would like to know more about him.

  • LittleBrother76,

thank you for info and your vids are good.

  • nice

  • awesome performance by this >king of hung gar<

  • its sap ying kuen, the dragon part is played like titsin in dynamic tension, then he did snake then only one of the tigersand went straight to crane..left out leopard and a big chunk of ng hang...

    Very impressive for his age

  • hey frank how ya doing. let me ask you something cause i know your si fu and si gung are venerable. in the vid above, is his muscle definition achieved through dynamic tension? if so does it give the proper energy trainning for soft and hard, hard to soft?

  • Hey,not sure if u meant me? Anyway, titsin makes u stronger and healthier but defined muscles like that u can only achive through weight lift training...

  • I cant speak for all martial artists but this kind of muscle tone has the trade mark look of manual resistance and isometrics. Also he may employ light free weights. There is no way this kind of physeec is reached through heavy weights. Stay out the gym and check out maxalding, charles atlis, and matt furey. For those in the KNOW...

    Peace

  • opticannon /FrankyLau,

I agree with both of you.

    as FrankyLau said:

[titsin makes u stronger and healthier .. ] and co-incide with yours.

TitSin is so valuable== it does give practitioners proper energy trainning for soft and hard(Yin to Yang,energy/power), hard to soft(relaxation after tension and circulation of internal power)

    let's share the TitSin !!

  • he should jump on stage a put foot in dem there whipper snappers on stage. how you gonna not give a master respect when hes playing form. my si gung would have stopped everything folded his arms blinking with annoyance until someone did something. if not he would have walked off although he never did public demos.

  • Very cool, please post more. That was a collage of Tiet Siu, Sup Ying and Fu Hac. Beautiful to watch.

  • Actually tiger crane and last section of sup ying to finish. What a combo!

  • I've never studied Hung Ga, but I notice that its dedicated practitioners are always very muscular, even as old men. Why is that? Do the forms they practice daily develop those muscles on their bodies or is it some form of Shaolin weight training that gives them this physique?

  • Hung Ga practitionersdo a lot of dynamic tenstion(tensing there muscles while moving) so it helps build up muscles. I practice Hung Ga but im not really sure how they use weights. I just use body weight and go to the gym.

  • It is a combo of iron wire, snake and tiger sections of sup ying and tiger crane to finish

  • It Iron thread not Sup Ying.

  • this is part of iron wire , that speak commentator

  • Wow....Just wow. 75 years old? Good God that's crazy.

  • I can't believe the tournament organizer allowed the Sanshou competition in the background to proceed during a master's demonstration. Chiu Chi Wai looks awesome.

  • you are right - it is not giving him the respect that he deserves

  • I think this is sup ying not the iron wire

  • chiu wai is the master of my master(juan cruz)

    i'm from navarra spain

  • Damn. That's Chiu Wai at what, 72 yrs old, 75? - something like that... I wish my stuff is going that tight one day, let alone at that age!.
