  • lupe is not a rapper, he is a true artist and musician to be able to go from hip hop to rock to electronic and kill it all

  • Same reason Kanye Got Hate Cuz He Made Dope Ass 808s and HeartBreaks

  • (Comment Removed By Government)

  • heirplanes is better

  • he gets the accent good when he says 'your lookin real pretty in your camoflage'

  • Dope! But what the hell does he repeat over and over in the song? '' To bomb memory in the street if you ask me? '' HELP!!!!

  • @peace1O1 It's a bad memory industry, if you ask me.

  • Indie rock, punk rock, hip-hop, doesn't matter. Its music. Its expression. Its Lupe. Its ill. Most artists wish that they were real enough to freely express themselves without worrying about "record sales" or "reputation." If you don't like it, keep your mind closed and don't listen. Personally, this album is better than 90% of the watered-down, commercial, bullshit thats floating around out there. Takes me back to the Rage Against the Machine days.

  • Ahead of it's time…

    It's time is NOW 2011/2012…

    Get on this…

  • Nope, no rule he can't do this also... They're just being prejudice. "he's black and raps so he can't make this type of music. this makes him a poser" Makes him a poser when they can't make better music than this there selves? and lupe is doing better than mostly any other alternative rock artists so I dont see why ppl are bitching, they should be happy

  • He uses the British accent because it is Fun & creative..I like this song ..Lupe speaks truth once again ! ! !

  • What a diverse artist!!!! Go for it!!!!!! May he mess with your brains for a long time to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is true artistry. Almost a lost art.

  • Wasalu Jaco is an African-American guy who uses a British accent in a band called Japanese cartoon. Racism does not apply to him.

  • He said he used an English accent because he hated the way his voice sounded when he first started signing so he felt more comfortable hiding behind an English accent. It wasnt planned or preconceived, its just what came out naturally when he first began. Also, he only uses the accent on his earlier tracks and as you listen to the album you'll notice he tones it down and even completely losses it once he become more comfortable and confident with his signing.

  • I love Lupe, but the British accent/ emo rock band thing is uhh ehhhhh lol

  • people need to calm down. lupe is an amazing musician rapper or rocker doesnt matter music is music and people need to stop being ignorant to the fact that music is expression and it comes in many different forms. good on lupe for braking the mold it shows he is a diversified and TRUE musician and not just some loser rapper making songs about woman and money.

  • The beatboxing in the background makes the song. And also the British accent. Love it.

  • Reminds me of Cowboy Bebop

  • why does he use an English accent?? >>

  • he should combine this music with his rapping

  • @SteveClose99 no he should not

  • the numbers in the countdown are in chinese but the bands name is japanese cartoon?

  • @xBSx627 Japanese use sinographs to write. Which is another word for Chinese characters.

So.. it's just as Japanese as it's Chinese

  • @xBSx627 who gives a fuck...

  • lol..the accent is pretty much..south-east british...like me....strage hes born in US

  • this guy is multitalented

  • The british accent is kinda wierd knowing Lupe, but now that i think about it.. his accent isn't bad either. my accent is most definitely not as good. What rappers do you know out there could pull this off?

  • @2ndWnd

fuck u man, the british don't speak like this at all, maybe in london in the victorian days but deffently not now.

  • @ItsWackman

you know i'm just going off other people's comments on the whole accent thing. you should really calm down buddy.

  • @2ndWnd

meh, im just saying, u guys always get r accents wrong in films.

  • It's weird to me that in most songs Lupe sings in a british accent

  • @shonuxs well the band is post punk/ indie so i guess he's trying to emulate the great british punk bands of the 70's i suppose

  • there are no anime clips in this video, there from old american cartoons. other then that this video is pretty amazin

  • Does anyone have the lyrics to this or can tell me what he's saying when he says something along the of "The *something* memory industry if you ask me"

  • i jsut realized wut anime this is its desert punk :)

  • @lordnath13 i didnt see anything relating to desert punk in it or am i crazy

  • I think this music is pretty sweet considering that it shows how legit his love for comics and anime is.

    Get it Wasalu!

  • SO EPIC!!!!!!!! Its more like hes just talking through it all, not really singing or rapping. Whatever he's doing its great, and I want more! And the accent is cool, haHAHAHA!!!!!

  • This is very freakin' cool. You know, you can download the album from their website absolutely free. This is not a spam, i just letting you know.

  • idk if its just me, but anyone notice the british accent? isn't lupe from chicago?

  • @koalaking009 He is from Chicago. The accent is faked because it is his "british/punk" band.

  • I hate military bashers... particularly self righteous ones that hide behind the same freedoms people have died to protect. How lame.

  • @daytona5bill War is not the anwser dude.

  • This makes me feel kinda bad about playin Modern Warfare 2... especially since one of the Favela/Rebel guys looks like Lupe (in my opinion)....

  • LupeFiasco is the greatest rapper in my opinion.

Wasulu Jaco is 1 hell of a Rocker. I love this dudes music period.

  • Uploaded 4/8/09? And im just hearin this.....

    I lost

As far as the project and the album.... get it. Wont be disappointed

FNF UP, JC n LUPE FTW

now.....we just have to wait on L.A.S.E.R.S.

  • In the excitement and awesomeness of Japanese Cartoon It appears that 7 people missed the like button.....

  • @gguero16 8 now.

  • lmfao

  • I'm not hating on diversity among musical artists, I simply think the fake British accent is a little much. If you're going to spit real shit in your music, you yourself need to be real while doing it. I still think Lupe is the greatest rapper alive though. I always will.

  • @Aus10hxc

maybe he got bored of his normal voice =D LMAOO

  • @Aus10hxc He used the accent because he was denying being apart of the band. The accent, no matter how little too much was just a way for him to make tracks without drawing much attention to himself. Now that he has admitted being apart of the band he dropped the accent.

  • @pinecone816 Ohh I gotcha. Makes sense. Still not a big fan of this project though. I guess aiming for a different target audience is what expanding as an artist is all about though. Props to Lupe for the attempt. I'll always love him for his hip hop though. =P

  • what does he say in the begining?

  • this song is hot

  • isn't this song called army to dope?

  • Needless to say, JC + The Gorillaz would definitely be epic in massive proportions.

  • I don't mean to sound like countless Wayne fans with Lupe, but you guys really need to hear Lupe's mixtapes. He has one with the Gorillaz where they are doing remixes of the Gorillaz songs.

  • @Sicckmaster a rhyming ape, dope mang

  • The mixtape is very brief though. I wish they had a WHOLE project together.

  • At the very least, its better than hearing oversaturation of autotune, if you ask me.

  • where can i find there music to download limewire is FAILING me

  • @ruggerREL Amazon has an MP3 download section where you can buy this song and support an artist you like.

  • @ruggerREL the best thing is to download a youtube to mp3 converter. you can just google it. it's worked great for me,i've downloaded a ton and caught no viruses. i completely stopped using limewire

  • @gurczak no B.S?

  • @ruggerREL serious. Although my brother downloaded it recently and its been updated so he gets the whole videos not just audio. There may be other ones out there though. I think it doesn't give viruses because you don't download anything (besides the program) you just strip the audio off. Or i could have good antivirus.

  • i cant lie, the beginning is pretty dope

  • im not hatin im just not diggin this to much.

  • Love you Lu. Let the haters hate, cause they always will. Do what you love. I mean, people need to see that you got more skills than just rappin. And to me, this kinda genre of music that you doin is totally cool in my eyes. Maybe cause i'm also into listenin to Kenna, K-OS, LINKIN PARK, Mike Shinoda etc...Chuh! Just keep doin ur thing. Love this!!!

  • It's a shame there's not a Gorillaz X Lupe project.

  • that would be awesome

  • @betomcfly There is. Fahrenheit 1/15 Part III: A Rhyming Ape. It's one of his mixtapes.

  • dang i didnt know lupe can do punk to thats so tight what cant he do this dude is so legit haha

  • Is there a rule that rappers have to rap all the time? No. Most good rappers can at least produce as well. Why not switch up the music too? This reminds me so much of the Gorillaz.

  • @starzzzy he's a big fan of the gorillaz he did a whole mixtape over their instrumentals and recorded verses for their upcoming cd.

  • @starzzzy Well....Lupe the Gorilla lol

  • @JDespereaux Hi, I dont know if you heard lupe's rap songs but he is nothing like the mainstream sex violence bullish* rappers. his songs are deep and meaningful with amazing metaphors. Also he grew up listening to a lot of genres of music so he appreciates music in general. he isnt the type to be embarrassed about makin punk music, what he talks about in his raps and punk songs are things even the bravest artists wouldnt speak about. i dont know about the british accent though lol. Peace & Love

  • @smoothballaxv lol@ your comment on the british accent. I dunno, its interesting though. I don't mind :)

  • I agree with on the fact Lupe is to revolutionary for rap right now but i think lupe needs to keep MCin because Hip Hop really needs him

  • @Fcukyouraelgood who are you to say what lupe must do?!!! i agree with smoothballaxv comment bout lupe and how he listens to diff genres and overall respects music. i just think he should keep doin what he loves to do. he can do whatever music he chooses.

  • I dont get why people hate on this, just because he made some hip hop albums does that mean he cant make any other kind of music? Hell no, dude can make whatever kind of music he likes, especially when its this dope.

PS. He was on this type of 'ish on The Cool, Hello/Goodbye was kinda the first outing for Percival

  • @iDopeBoyTV I know man, I like this. Everything from the faux british accent to the message, to the unique sound of the band. This type of ish is just way too left for some of ya'll. Ya'll want an artist who is always going to do the same thing all the time and remain predictable and do the same shit over and over again. Damn, think outside the box!

  • @iDopeBoyTV i aint hating but why the english accent?

  • You got to remember MC's like this are artists and people first, rappers second. That is why Kanye was able to make his CD and why they feel the need to experiment. A lot of ya'll may not like it, but it stands to remain that it is their music. If it doesn't come from the heart, the mind, or the soul, then what makes it different then what all of the whack and gimmick and fake rappers rap about today?

  • couldnt have said it better

  • it is lupe look at the vid from the twilight music video solar midnite

  • that is lupe. as much as i didn't believe it, it is. just listen to the lyrics, that is deff lupe fiasco. not into the whole rock thing but the man is still brilliant with his lyrics.

  • lupes the shit but stop with the english way of talking

  • People its WASALU singing, lupe fiasco is just his hip hop persona.

  • "I say you lookin real pretty in your camouflage"..lol...

  • y not? lmao

  • Comment removed

  • kinda sounds like lupe fiasco

  • thats because it is lupe fiasco XD

  • hes definately singing to the same melody as some rock song i cant think of it! same guitar riff too! i wanna say its by the chili peppers? i also hear a lil foo fighters from all my life when lupe(percival) says "a bad memory in the industry if u ask me" or w.e he's sayin

  • Ok, I won't even deny it. This is good.

All political messages and whatnot aside.

  • ''...as you sniff your white lines you f*ckin' bastards''...lmfao...lupe is dope !!

  • It actually makes alota sense if u know what n who hes talkin about..

  • what is or is not horseshit is not up to your judgment, it's up to each individual person.

If you're a violent, warmongering barbarian like the rest of the species, then that's your decision. I choose to use my mind, which I know is an uncommon decision in this day and age.

  • Lupe.... i mean..."Percival Fats" *wink wink* is the man

  • dope video! lupe is the shit, japanese cartoon is fucking ill, release a god damn album already! and release Lasers too!

  • YOU LOOKIN REAL PRITTY >>>>>LOL

  • Love it <3

  • Lupe is like Mos and DOOM .

  • God Lupe Never Seizes To Amaze...This Stuff Is The Shit..Props Lupe

  • Everybody knows it's Lupe but I'm hoping he pulls a Milli Vanilli with Japanese Cartoon.

  • It can't be worse than Lil Wayne trying to do rock music with Rebirth or Kanye West's 808's and Heartbreak, his first pop album. Cut Lu some slack, he is pretty creative with his too.

  • I think that every good artist has to have an experimental type of CD or go outside their comfort zone to see how different kinds of music feels. That is one of the things that differentiates an artist from a mere rapper. Just because people hear and see them rapping doesn't mean that that is not all they are about. A rapper just raps on all songs. After a while, it can seem pretty mundane for them and even some of their fans. Its good to be creative.

  • True that, but Lupe never was that kind of rapper that 'just raps on all songs' in my opinion. But I sure do respect him trying different things. Look at a guy like Mos Def though, he's done other types of music besides rapping but he keeps it all cohesive.

  • 2:06 lol

  • your looking real pretty in your camouflage Lupe turns anything to gold he told you "i Told you i fucking got it

  • Booo to you!!

  • this shizzts goood.

if this is really lupe... he mustuv practiced long, cuz he really pulls off the voice

  • What are you on fam? I first heard this stuff and was like "It's Lupe doing a really shoddy cockney accent"

  • lol its funny that he playin superhero w/ his music...but on the real is he gonna do a daft punk thing w/ JPC Army or will he just throw on a Ron Burgundy Moustache and say he's ...Percival Fats

  • Wow. This is making me anticipate Modern Warefare 2. He should be a character.

  • lyrics?!

  • that was dope

  • Percival Fats is Batman

    Lupe Fiasco is Bruce Wayne

He is the alter ego of Lupe. Deal with it people!

  • that was the best way to put it!! lol

but this song was tight as hell...

    Japanese Cartoon All The Way!!!

    FNF UP!!

  • This sure is lupe...go to their Myspace...youll see what you need too...still tough

  • Go Lupe, gl;ad to see that dude is branching out

  • very interesting that lupe has been rocking camo shorts and the japanese cartoon shirt at most of his concerts

  • ..Hasn't he always worn camo? Even before Cartoon?

  • Has, but he's wearing both

  • Actually, he's releasing Lasers, then two others, then LupE.N.D.

  • How can Lupe deny involvement? When you can clearly see him in the video, the white paint ain't fooling no one hahahaha, dope song though!

  • lol, they said he "produces" the band and is a dear friend.

  • btw, genius, the white paint is to make him looke like a skeleton. Seriously, his hands are painted like bones too.

  • I LOVE LUPE but i aint gonn alie this aint my style but im sure other people are lovin this cause lupe is still creative with this song, F n F up any AwAY! pce much love to ya

  • This is Lupe's creativity and sort of kinda what he grew up liking. He says in an interview that he started to like groups like Pink Floyd and some other rock groups growing up. Plus Lupe traveled a lot in his early career. Maybe he got this idea in another country where it was really hot and decided to bring it with his own uniqueness and creativity over here. Cut him a little slack, he is trying something new, unlike most dudes who just give you the same shit over and over again.

  • *soulless soldier martian marchin forward* dopeness

  • Honestly it takes a little getting used to because I can't really consider it anything part of any genre. Its not brit rock, indie rock, ect. its something..unusual.

  • lol, it's Fake Brandie

    Fake British+Rap+Indie=Fake Brandie

  • Sounds like a cheap liquor.

  • Yeah, I was afraid someone would point that out.

  • I don't know... I think its kind of cool, but maybe that is because I am American. If you don't like this, at least someone will. Plus, Lupe has done a bunch of shows internationally and has met rappers from the UK like Sway. Lupe is a true cosmopolitan, he likes to do stuff internationally, rather than staying national about it. This contributes to his style and who he is, it is part of the diversity of living in a place like Chicago. Are you from the UK?

  • I'm from California. I've seen Lupe live twice before. I've been a big fan for a long time now, and that's why I'm disappointed in this. It's not hip hop.. that's fine. The thing is, it's not even good for "indie rock" or whatever you want to even call it. I don't mind the politics either, "hurt me soul" is one of my favorite songs from Lu.

  • You can't really call this Indie Rock. I don't really think it belongs in any genre. It's one of those types of music that can be classified as other, but I think it fits Lupe because is a very unique individual. You can count on him to ALWAYS be thinking of something outside the box. And like I said, he is a cosmopolitan. Think about songs like Paris, Tokyo and he makes references in Gold Watch, too. He's met people from all over and he doesn't limit himself to national music.

  • i'm confused.

  • Awesome A "military industrial Complex" mention from Lupe

you can tell he is a lil bit awakened to secret societies in songs like "put You On the Game"

  • YES!

  • Lupe said that he is not the vocals on Japanese Cartoon but if you listen to his song "hello/goobye (Uncool)" form his abum "The Cool". it sounds MORE like Lupe.

  • This is what I always bring up!

    This is indisputably Lupe.

  • dude i want this video and cd how yall get it?????

  • just wait... its not out yet. so far as i know

or you could search to get it the "wrong" way

  • it's lupeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • has lupe admitted that this shit is him yet?

  • FINALLY! I've been waiting for the video for so damn long! It's not my favorite song but it's cool.

  • percival fats is an african american? or british.. lets just assume... lol

    L.U.P.E J.A.P. CARTOON

  • yeah that is lupe

  • But How You Know ( Not Coming At Your Head, Just OD Curious About This Hype)

  • Hotness!!!!!

  • So0o0o0o Do0o0pe Curse his swagger lol

  • DOPE!!!

  • i like this... alot of energy. >)

  • he didn't delayed his album for this......this is just a side project for him. Lasers coming out this summer.

  • you just don't understand the meaning. this song is amazing.

  • I think you quoting the wrong guy, I like this song =/

  • YES! Japanese Cartoon!

  • this is dope, love it can't wait for the album
