@MrFootie100: my brother worked at a polaris dealer, he said that the polaris seem cheap and WAY Over priced, and they all ways came in for broken axles and some other problems, but he said it depends on how you use it lol I have used a gator hpx which is way different from the polaris ranger, and it's a beast. and it's only got 20hp, but the new gator 825i's are vary good quality and you can work AND play in it it's not just for work you can get it with foxshocks which is crazy awesome. But it
Gators are tuff when it comes to work, off road anything will out perform them though. My gator CS (the homeowner one) pulled a trailer with 2 round bales on it and didn't think twice. BUT at the same time it was horrible offroading. You really can't compare gotors to polaris and Kawasaki. John Deere doesn't make gators with "play" in mind...
I should have taken a picture this summer of the Gator pulling the 3 wagons of hay in the hay field with a fat tire on one of the wagons. That had everyone's head turned.I bet your Polaris Ranger could do twice that !!
I have not noticed a vibration problem with the gator. I have used it hard and have had it going on two years now. I have been pulling hay wagons out of the field stacking hay bales 6 high and connecting up to 3 wagons together. At one point a wagon had a flat tire which I didn't find out tell the tire came off the rim. So if there were going to be a vibration issue I'm sure I would have detected it by now. I am looking forward to taking it with me to Florida in three weeks!
i like how he is making fun of kawasaki and maybe the 825i is different but the previous gators have kawasaki motors. i have to a 6x4 and a 620i and they both are kawasakis
@TheHondadirtbiker Thanks, I really love my Gator. It's all street legal and you should see the looks I get. I just wish it went about 10 mph faster, then I could keep up w/ traffic. Any suggestions ?
@lkussmaul Not too sure what you could do for more speed.. I don't think the Gators were really made for going fast, but hey, im sure theres something you could do :) I think i'm going to get one of these Gators pretty soon, they seem so awesome, and it beats my 625i by a mile! More vids of it please
@lkussmaul where do you live if its street legal where i live no ATV UTV are alowed on roads.. i was looking at a Joiner Renegade 800 it has turning signal 50 HP (i think) and liecences plate holder but down side is its a manuel but i can still drive it like a pro
@mattrax55. We get your point, I would love to see your little 30hp Polaris pull 8 of those. I use a John deere gator hpx 4x4 that can pull that. And I have watched a John deere gator 825i out pull the newest ranger.
@kevin113423 the gas has more torque, i dont know why and the gas goes faster, the only thing the diesel version has on the 825i is that it has more cc's
I appreciate your candid truth, and off road Farm work is part of what it was designed for. The other part is just plain having a blast w it and seeing what it can do . I just got mine street legal and put turn signals and a horn and took it to the BMV and got a license plate for it . Now, how cool is that. I bought a toy hauler to put it in so I can take it w/ me on vacations.I put a removable rumble seat in the dump bed so I can take two more passengers. You must have a Gator I like my gator
It looks like it would be alot of fun around town! Do you mind saying what state you are in? Any troubles getting it registered? I am in Kansas and would love one of these on the street but have always heard you couldn't get it done.
@TheIceBurglar I am from OHIO. The bmv has had an on and off policy. I just cought them on the on time to register my gator. I believe the speed has alot to do w/ it as 47mph is not your usual speed of a suv. There are no restrictions as to day time, location, etc. so that was and is a big plus. Also they loved the sales tax. I had to get it insured almost like a car. Good luck in Kansas.
I like john deere dont get me wrong. Please. We have some old tractors of john deeres. I didnt get the gator in 2009 because the 825i wasnt available. Everyone gets what they need for there specific needs. Mine is a farm/off road capable machine. Polaris hd. If i had of waited for this to come out i prob woulda gotten it.
Pulling an esclade out of the ditch or even mud seems to be a pretty common thing. I'm sure there have been lots of types of machines pullig them out of a mistakes they thought they could or should be able to get them selves out of. Raw pulling power on dry ground John Deere has got them all beat. And I can prove it ! Watch and weap !
i think i would know. i sell these things all the time and they are a japanese based motor but they are assembled in waterloo, ia. they are very powerful and very quick for what they are. i have had more people want these than any other because they cost less and are a little easier to come by accessories with. overall john deere has made a hell of a machine i think.
@Ikussmaul sweet gator I'm going to have to get one soon I have a 6x4 now I love it but these seem a lot better hate to hear about the Parkinson's my grandpa has it it's terrible
I stand corrected. johnrambo1215 everything you said is correct. I was wrong. Thanks for the information to make this blog correct, and to enlighten myself on my own gator. Have fun w/ your new toy. !
I believe you stand correcrted. The front diff. lock on the gator is next to the gear shift lever. It is not, I repeat not a rear diff. lock only. You pull the front diff. lock up when engaging the front two wheels in the lock position. The Deere you tested must not have been the 825I. I would love to go head to head w/ your Teryx. Let me know the time and place. Then reason I look to be a little on the light side is I have parkinson's and my balance is not the best. I am in Ohio.
My Kawasaki would have no problem. Deeres diff lock is on the back axle only. Kaw's is front with a locked back axle. I helped run the test on these Deeres they are good machines, but you dont even have enough leg room to keep your feet inside. The steering wheel is upright like a bus too. When you want to get out ran and outperformed bring her on down and let the Teryx eat it up!
JOHN DEERE Just pay other manufactors to built there engines. They just tell them what they want in there motors and who ever comes up with the lowest price or bid gets the contract. So in this case the CHINESE GETS THE CONTRACT! Because they were the lowest or the cheapest bidder. JD just pay the manufactor to build it and resale it for many times more. In there gator, tractor, dozer, etc. Thats the FACTS! And they have the nerves to say its a AMERICAN MADE MACHINE! WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP. RESPECT
@vanthiectu All due respect, but you're talking out of your ass. I'd like to invite you to tour the John
Deere Engine Works factory in Waterloo, Iowa, USA. You might be surprised where John Deere engines come from for their tractors, dozers, combines, sprayers, etc. They come from Iowa, USA. John Deere also forges cast components for other companies (CAT, AGCO, CNH, etc.) Do your research before you blow it out your hole. RESPECT
Nice gator! I have the camo 825 version. Sir you are aware that the motor in the 825 is built by chery automotive in CHINA? The motor is used in mini cars in china.. And also the 625i the motor is built by KAWASAKI! And the 855d is built by JAPANESE! Is not an american made machine. So with all due respect please dont disrespect.. Please know the facts before u compare, when kawasaki been working with jd for many years engineering there engines. JOHN DEERE DOES NOT MAKE THERE OWN MOTORS!
