I think the only thing missing was the sound of desperate calls for help over the comms. I could almost imagine, at around the 2:48 - 2:59 mark, a panicking Marine radioing something on the lines of, "Contact! Zerg, Lieutenant! Orders? Ma'am?!"
Still, this is one of my favourite cutscenes from SC2 so far. Kudos to Blizzard for their hard work.
Well, I've had the biggest problem with Tricia in the flashback scenes. I remember old Campbell's quotes and I gotta say, that Helfer didn't play StarCraft 1 one bit, neither she looked at how it was supposed to sound. E.G. this scene: SC1: You can hear Kerrigan's panic, when she realizes, that she is going to be left behind, but she does not want to believe it.
in SC2, it gave more of the impression, that Kerrigan has a problem with her communication device. Meant in voice, purely, of course.
you know, for being an extremely powerful psionic being, Kerrigan really seems to have no clue what she's doing on a battlefield (ex wasting tons and tons of ammo she didn't have to)
@ST3V342 She, and most other Ghosts, were given implants that actually reduced their psionic powers by a lot. This was mostly to ensure that they didn't turn against the Confederacy (and later, the Dominion). In other words, she couldn't have had. After her infestation, she raided several Dominion-held science vessel and reversing the neural conditioning from her training as a psionic agent, in order to get most of her powers back again.
@Dualwieldingroxas Mengsk betrayed Kerrigan, according to Raynor in SC2:WoL, because she called Mengsk out on the genocide of the Confederates on Tarsonis. She complained about using psi emitters to lure the Zerg to kill fellow Terrans, and Mengsk perhaps thought that he could not trust her anymore, or that her usefulness had ended. Now with Raynor, Duke, and the player character, he may have felt he did not need her. I don't think he wanted to get rid of Raynor until Raynor quit.
@Aivottaja Wouldn't do much good. Mengsk's orders forced Sarah to go down to New Gettysberg with a small group that was very much outnumbered by the Protoss & was right next to a Zerg Base. Mengsk didn't allow anyone else down with her in the first place & you could hear the lies in his voice when in the briefing he said that he "Trusts her Abilities." Before the mission even begins it looks like he's feeding her to the Zerg Rush. Jim would still figure it out if Mengsk was using your idea.
@Justin5637 ... It's something best termed as " suppressive fire". In other words, she did exactly what would have had been realistic, when you're retreating.
But interesting is this. On Tarsonis there is a town called "New Gettysburg" and Tarsonis has orbital platform called "New Gettysburg". And the Kerrigans betrayal in SC1 was done on the platform and in SC2 was done in the town of New Gettysburg.
Kerrigan was betrayed by Mengsk, right. But Kerrigan was not a saint either
On New Gettysburg, she was attacking Tassadar's fleet of the Protoss
Tassadar's fleet prefered to fight directly the Zerg instead of using their planetary bombing, to SAVE the Terrans and all the planet's life. And on New Gettysburg, they once again were fighting directly the Zerg, not exterminating the planet
And then comes the "heroic" Kerrigan to kill Tassadar's fleet and not the Zerg. Not my idea of a good person

@tanete You do realize that Kerrigan was merely following Mengsk's orders in attacking Tassadar's Protoss forces, right? Mengsk, in his singleminded goal to destroy the Terran Confederacy, wanted none of them to escape alive, not when he had unleashed the Zerg on them. The Protoss engaging the Zerg would only ruin Mengsk's plans, and he can't have that happen. If I remember correctly, those were his specific orders.
Ha ha ha on this mission I built a super defense against the zerg. I had a tight wall of over 10 bunkers, then I had about 7 turrets, at least 5 sieged tanks, and a bunch of goliaths and marines standing around. By the end of the zerg assault, there was zergling and marine blood everywhere, but MY DEFENSE HELD!!!!
@chubaka1992 Maybe it's the same thing that caused the huge shift in feel from War I/War II to War III. I mean, compare how the Warcraft world changed. Even though the cartoony proportions did leak over here and there, SC II still feels -at least as far as I can tell- like Starcraft. War III comes just short of feeling like another world once you stop watching the cinematics and actually get to the lore and in-game look & feel.
Everytime I played that mission in StarCraft, I made sure most of my troops were somewhere else, so my base was barely defended. Just enough, so that by the time they reached her, it would say; "victorious." It was all worth it after seeing this cinematic.
i still love before this when you first get to use kerrigan. Kerrigan: "You Pig" Raynor: "What, I didn't say anything" Kerrigan: "Yeah, But you were thinkin it"
"what if i have enought defence to stop them?" you can use a cheat to deactivate victory conditions, and it's possible to stop them indefinitely, but if you destroy a building by accident, say from the splash damage from a siege tank attacking a hydralisk on the high ground (you can see any unit attacking you that arent cloaked) you lose, so it takes a few tries.
@tubertomp I agree Kerrigan's old voice was waaay better for both Ghost and Queen of Blades. The voice actress tried to get into SC2 but Blizzard decided to go with that lame Galactica Actress >).< Shes fine but just not the same Kerrigan.
@TheCrysis95 The dialog plays anyways, even if it doesn't make sense. I.e., you can have a control group of battlecruisers effortlessly killing every invading zerg unit, but Kerrigan still goes "we're being overrun by zerg" and continues with her thing.
lol I love doing that tho covering the distance between the ramps and CC with bunkers filled with 3 rins and 1 bat, and have groups of siege tanks and BC's covering the route..
I could have taken on the entire zerg army in Char...
@TheCrysis95 yeah I did exactly that one game. It's funny that it actually seemed like the zerg was running out of money cus they eventually just sent all lings which died pretty easy.
I tried using cheats to build up defenses strong enough to defend against the initial invasion.... but the mission script just spews non-stop zerglings.....which slowed down my computer back then...
I did the mission again and prepped for the incoming horde. I had three layers of bunker around the exit, with Firebats on the 1st layer, Marines on the 2nd and Ghosts on the 3rd. After the layers of Bunkers, I had a line of Siege Tanks. There were Turrets all over the place, dozens of Spider Mines right down the expected Zerg horde exit. Kerrigan was well protected inside a bunker surrounded by other units.
TL;DR, I prepped Zerg didn't even touch the Bunkers, still we got overran
@Hanssen69 They literally threw Sarah under a bus? There was actually a bus there, with a driver and everything, and they literally threw her under it?
The reason he left her was that she knew about his plans of beeing as corrupted as the confederacy were. He knew she would soon tell the fleet and so he sent her down there to prevent the protoss of getting rid of the zerg so that the planet would be lost and give him the chance to leave he'r there to die
He didnt see know they take and that they would make her the Queen of blades
@starzerg96 Well, Kerrigan wasn't all that important, he left her to die because his plan was fulfilled...extermination of the capital confederate planet. He'd be dumb to just kill an entire planet to get to kerrigan -.-. She was just collateral damage.
@Bradatimrkonja Hey. if she wold have spooken about it mengesk wouldent have any ppl to lead, the planat could have been saved but he gave it away just to silence Kerrigan. One planat or losing your fleet and future control over the Korhal sector?
@Bradatimrkonja Yes I would have to agree with you. I just hope the US Army would never let a fellow soldier die like that. But nevermind the CIA agents... They do that all the time.

Something I didn't understand: She's on a space platform in Starcraft 1, and in a city in Starcraft 2... I guess I'm just gonna have to assume that the space platform tileset was the only thing that looked really manufactured at this time...
Blizzard aren't appreciate it's voice actors. If it's turning out that they deserve more money than they offer, they simply choose somebody who accept it. I think this is what happened with Justin Gross, aka Arthas.
Some of you may be thinking: why in the first video they are on a space plattform and on the second one on solid ground? Blizzard had 2 unused missions: one that attempted to rescue the antiga prime people from the zerg (bitting the bullet), and the second one consisted on destroying several terran buildings to then secure the area with psy emmiters, but this one ocurred ON THE SURFACE OF THE PLANET (operation silent scream). I could have done without the matrix slow mo and the lord of the rings music bit at the end. I mean its blizzard so they'll do their thing. but I would have preferred a more desperate and gruesome version. with a little more urgency from kerrigan
