@Tsunne I guess I'm the same way, I don't do stupid things very often and my friends are nerdy homebodies like me, so I don't relate to them personally but I LOVE what they do because they are polar opposite to my life. Besides I like their dynamic group, there are cool alpha males, not so cool betas, athletic, overweight, vertically challenged, drunk, uptight, loose, weird types so there is something for everyone and they are all friends united in a common goal to have some fun!
I have to agree that Jackass, where it doesn't appeal to everyone, is very much a way for people to escape for a couple hours. These people are not idiots and they understand that what they do is a little "out there" to some. And really, they could probably care less that some people find their stuff to be stupid. They do what makes them happy, so more power to them. They're not hurting anyone but themselves. :)

It's almost zen, in that there is no thought to past or future, it's simply present; here and now, living for an awesome moment. I find the most base form of entertainment things like Jerry Springer where the intention is to wound a 'friend' emotionally and psychologically for 15 minutes of fame. Jackass has no intention to hurt anyone but themselves, but even so it's done within a certain amount of safety precautions.
sorry, second thoughts... I don't believe that Jackass actually has the intention to 'hurt' themselves, as in that isn't the focus. They seem to thrive on the accomplishment, of winning against their opponent fear. There is a saying: The most I have to fear from my enemies is that they'll attack me, the worst I fear from my friends is they'll betray me, but indifferent people scare the hell out of me. That's why Jackass's foolery and bravery inspire me, because they are extreme!

From their point of view, I don't blame them for doing this as they are now rich and famous. I blame people who encourage them. We live in a world where the feeble-minded can survive on tomfoolery alone. That is my major complaint.
