Was Sean serious about the perfect crime or was it just a plot point to move the story? Is Sean still "bad" in this story?

@dlwoods7 He was joking, obviously BUT it's written in there for a purpose. It puts the seed of doubt in Monica's head when everybody thinks that Sean killed Alan.
